I'd love to bitch some more about last night but considering it was the same crap we saw against Atlanta there's really nothing more to talk about... more of the same And still NO EFFORT WHATSOEVER from Eric Staal

^^ alrighti'm tired of you fuckfaces shitting on staalyes, he's having a rough time. But to say NO EFFORT WHATSOEVER is fucking stupid. He had at least 4 chances that he just couldn't get in the net. NEWSFLASHTHE WHOLE TEAM IS SHITTING THE BEDgoddammit, I hate to say it, but I doubt Laviolette is long for this world.
11/13/2008 1:59:35 PM
lolwut
11/13/2008 2:02:31 PM
Also I'm pretty sure Staal is leading the NHL in shots
11/13/2008 2:13:42 PM
Well guys, at least we have this worriedness going on. Imagine if it was like the Florida Panthers. You suck dog shit for 10 years and you get used to it. Hell, they would trade their situation for ours in heartbeat.I like to think of it like that, you know, at least we are better than the panthers
11/13/2008 2:27:45 PM
Haha, I remember that time we drank beers in the parking lot and then went to a hockey game.
11/13/2008 2:29:33 PM
As opposed to drinking beer in the parking lot and going to see 6 monkeys fuck a football for an hour.

11/13/2008 2:49:03 PM
At least they know they're sucking and now they can work on fixing it
11/13/2008 2:55:16 PM
Staal may have had at least 4 chances of scoring but that has NOTHING to do with the amount of effort he is putting forth when 3 of them came on a 5 on 3 powerplay where he was standing IDLE in front of the net completely missing on 2 of them and then firing the 3rd over the net. Scoring chances doesn't necessarily have to do with effort. Not skating back on defense does. If you watched the game there was a play where Staal had a scoring chance, didn't work out, got down on himself and slowly skated back on defense (which gives him too much credit it was more of a crawl). Ray Whitney stole a pass in OUR defensive end and then saw Staal so sent him a pass for a potential breakaway or at least an odd man advantage. Staal was STILL in the offensive zone and the play was called offsides. So let's recap... a scoring chance, pure laziness, Capitals are rushing the play and creating offense in our zone, Whit steals, Staal is not only not helping out on defense but it STILL in the offensive zone, offsides, crowd boo's, everyone's pissed. So I stand by my comment. No effort from the future captain who I happen to be a big fan of. But facts are facts.
11/13/2008 10:07:27 PM
And another note I don't wanna talk about Staal leading the league in shots. That's a horrible statistic to base an argument around. Nearly all of Staals shots during times where he's struggling like this are horrible. He streaks through the neutral zone right up center ice, crosses the blue line and takes a wrist shot through 2 bodies that the goalie bats to the side and then the defense collapses on and clear out of the zone. He does it at least 5 times a game. It's even worse than dump and chase because it gives the opposing team direct possession.
11/13/2008 10:10:46 PM
Staal's recent play has reminded me a bit of all those prima donna strikers in soccer I hated playing with. They'd streak to the goal, fall over, flop around on the ground for a while, and then start to walk back to the action. Meanwhile, I'm busting my ass in the midfield, fighting tooth and nail for possession of the ball. When I'd get it, I'd look up to get a pass to the striker, but he's still dicking around in an offside position. And then he'd get pissy when I wouldn't pass it to him. I'm waiting for him to sprint back to an onside position, and he's waiting for me to pass it to him, and in the meantime I get my pocket picked. And then he makes a whiny face at me and takes my refusal to pass as reason to try even less next time. That's kind of how I characterize his play recently.

Random fact that I discovered today:Ilya Kovalchuk's daughter's name is Carolina
11/14/2008 4:19:08 PM
I always thought Staal never gave it his all. Beg to disagree, but if he gave it his all, he would have more 100 point seasons.
11/14/2008 4:32:00 PM
This is in no way a reflection of my opinion on Staal's effort, but I think the 100 point season was a product of the post lockout season and I have doubts that he will ever hit triple digits again.
11/14/2008 4:35:38 PM
So then you guys agree that Staal was NOT worth 8.25 mil a year ($100,000 per game)?[Edited on November 14, 2008 at 5:47 PM. Reason : ?]
11/14/2008 5:47:11 PM
is he really getting paid that much? I could've sworn it's a gradual increase every year until he reaches that 8 million mark.
11/14/2008 5:54:38 PM
11/14/2008 6:04:13 PM
that contract doesn't take effect until next year, thoughi think?
11/14/2008 6:27:15 PM
yeah. He only makes 5 mil this year.Still that's 8.25mil for 7 year, nothing gradually increasing about it.[Edited on November 14, 2008 at 6:29 PM. Reason : ]
11/14/2008 6:29:06 PM
Clearly he plans on playing at a $5 million level this season then increasing his work ethic to $8 next year
11/14/2008 6:34:55 PM
Someone should make a sign for Sunday"Eric, will you earn your 100k tonight?"
11/14/2008 6:39:02 PM
2009-10 $6M2010-11 $7.5M2011-12 $7.752012-13 $8.5M2013-14 $9.25M2014-15 $9.25M2015-16 $9.5M
11/14/2008 8:24:17 PM
Maybe Sammy or Staal would score if they would shoot somewhere other than the 5 hole every time
11/14/2008 8:44:42 PM
yay, another Eric Staal just flicking one at the net without any sort of desire to do anything else. I'm sick of this shit.
11/14/2008 9:04:39 PM
RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
11/14/2008 9:05:26 PM

11/14/2008 9:54:03 PM
The look on Lavi's face said, "shit I hope I don't get fired!"
11/14/2008 10:07:32 PM

11/14/2008 10:09:22 PM
*sigh*
11/14/2008 10:09:55 PM
Well Gleason's speech didn't do shit.We suck.
11/14/2008 10:10:34 PM
I didn't watch the game, caught the last 2 minutes though.I take it that it was a lack of effort again?
11/14/2008 10:10:47 PM
you caught about 2 of a total of 6 minutes we actually played
11/14/2008 10:11:14 PM

11/15/2008 11:51:24 AM
Remember the good old days when we were going on winning streaks with a lineup that looked something like thisSamsonov - Staal - ColeBayda - Aucoin - WalkerRuutu - Letowski - LaRoseBrookbank - Jensen - HamiltonHedicone - GleasonWesley - WallinKaberle - CorvoWardGrahame
11/15/2008 12:44:02 PM
CONNNNBOYYYYYYYYYYYalso, lemme hear a big
11/15/2008 2:15:43 PM
We still have 18 points? Man this is what happens when you don't pay attention for a week and a half. Everything goes to shit when you thought it had to be going great still. What is going on?! I even rep'd my Canes gear at a Mississippi State hockey game last night!
11/16/2008 12:10:00 AM
They can't outskate anybody, they wont hit anyone and they're not outworking or outhustling nobody. That's the style of hockey they play, which is turning out to be a very unsuccessful one.
11/16/2008 12:18:46 AM
ah ha. so is our season turning out to be like the Pee Wee vs. Red Wings South Park episode? fail-tacular.
