Mr Frog @ HarpersActually similar to my own reactions to John McCain, except stretched out over a longer period of time. So maybe I am giving Obama supporters more shit than they deserve. The cartoon's conclusion is a bit trite though. It seems a to be suggesting that things will never change in this country so long as we keep...voting for politicians we don't agree 100% with? Real fresh smart idea Mr Frog. Really, I think this type of attitude misses the entire point of median voter theorem (the median voter in the primary is different than the median voter in the general election, so it should be no surprise Obama is moving to the center). The simple fact of the matter is that most people don't want broad sweeping change, probably because things are not really that bad to start with.

I really enjoyed Mr. Obama's rant about Exxon moving jobs and profits offshore and "getting tax-breaks for it." He wants to end tax-breaks for companies that move jobs offshore. Why are companies getting tax-breaks anyway? I'm sure there are far worse reasons that companies are "getting tax-breaks" than simply moving jobs away from profit-sucking unions and democrats.Furthermore, how, exactly, does Obama expect Exxon to make jobs in the US when he won't let them fucking DRILL FOR OIL IN THE US? Where are those jobs gonna come from, Obama? THEN, he's gonna tax the "windfall profits" which will, say it with me, move more profits offshore so as to avoid the tax on profits, as well as decrease domestic and foreign drilling, thus destroying jobs in the US. All while driving the price of oil UP. Pure. Fucking. Genius.

I dunno man, you could be like Kevin Costnar in that shitty movie that's out. At which case we'll put a life size cut out of Obama in your front yard. No, he's delaying the VP pick becuase he doesnt want it to wash over the mileage he can get out of the new 'country club economics' gaffe going on. that has the potential to be political gold, why waste it?
8/22/2008 2:56:06 PM
hes delaying the pick because he is trying to gather as many cell phone numbers as possible

8/22/2008 5:43:18 PM
well yes the south is typically red states...didnt know why old and white were relevant]
8/22/2008 5:44:36 PM
^^^^ Are you really smearing the people of 11 Southern states like that, you fucking douche bag? Really?!In any event, I want to clear something up. This arugula business was started by Obama--not the Republicans. And it became a way to simply illustrate that Obama seems to be out of touch with everyday folks.I mean, most places don't even have a Whole Foods, and most average folks probably eat iceberg lettuce with Thousand Island dressing or something along those lines (I know, "STUPID RACIST FATASSES!!!1" ). In addition, this type of thing has been done time and again, such as when past presidential candidates have been asked about the price of a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk and so on--but Obambi gets testy about it because he's apparently above any sort of "questions."Newsweek, which is definitely not a conservative publication, perpetuated the arugula angle on a cover (I have the hard copy in front of me). Incidentally, my MS Word didn't even recognize "arugula" until I added it to the dictionary, so it's not a commonly used word. Only in AmericaBarack Obama is a Niebuhr-reading ESPN watcher. The origins of his troubles with the 'other' tag.

Your arugula stance is full of shit hooksaw. The fact that you are even brandishing an argument with it is so bush league amateur. He was talking to farmers. he was noting that retailers are raising their prices, with none of that trickling down to the farmers. One could research to see how accurate that is, but that was the point he was making – that big corporate retailers are getting rich at their expense. Granted his choice of arugula was not the most keen, but like i said originally, “big deal.”Iowans know what arugula is man...the farmers there grow it and it is available. Reference this article if you want to see all the ways how: http://mediamatters.org/items/200708280009

You are full of shit, Kraiyon. I can find no listing for a Whole Foods in Iowa on the company's Web site:http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/My explanation stands. And your use of Media Matters as a source says it all.Keep dreaming those deep, sweet arugula-smelling dreams of Obama--along with the rest of the Obamatose. PS: I realize that farmers ship products out of their areas, so spare me.

8/22/2008 6:43:37 PM
^ That's hardly what you posted:
8/22/2008 6:45:36 PM
The Republican was the relevant part. you know.... because for the last 50 years, Republicans have always led in the South, so why should it be any surprise that McCain leads now. the "old, white" was for good humor, and was not meant to imply that's why McCain's leading.
8/22/2008 6:49:30 PM
Uh, hook, that oh-so-evil source doesn't claim there are Whole Foods stores in Iowa.
8/22/2008 6:52:51 PM
^^ So, you were not implying the poll at issue indicated that most of the people in 11 Southern states would only vote for an old white Republican?^ Um. . .I have no idea what you're babbling about. Obama was addressing farmers in Iowa when he mentioned going into Whole Foods. The Whole Foods Web site shows no listing for one of their stores in Iowa. That is all.
