^ as far as I know, they are.

They had an album out late last year and they're scheduled to be playing some shows at the Cradle in the coming months.

and for AC Slater to sample:

http://www.myspace.com/schooner

"trains and parades" was what got me listening to them, and their latest record is pretty damn solid, imo.

His self titled record this year is freaking incredible. It reminds me if you fuzzed up the beach boys sound and added lots of keyboards. Reminds me of super furry animals but even catchier."

been listening to it in my car the past few days

it passes my standards testing

gave the new wolf parade its first listen today while running. some of the songs hit right away...i think like "apologies" it may take a bit for me to really get into it, but i still listen to that about once a week, so i hold out hope.

ive only listened to it once. its ok. i wanted to love this album. As every album of theirs, ive found a few things to love the first time through but overall was a very disappointing experience. Im sure i will grow to enjoy it but I was hoping for something a little bigger considering the change of sound

there are some parts on this album i LOVE. but most of the songs just seem undeveloped, or seem to continue to build, yet never actually get to the meat and potatoes of a song that really grabs you. Like an album of solid intros and builds that they never finished because its without the hooks or something.

no way. to me they have always been an extremely catchy band full of hooks and parts you just want to sing along to even when down tempo. their albums have always been about cute little gibbardized choruses that you have a hard time not enjoying.

even going all the way back to something about airplanes and facts. they had very defined choruses that i still want to sing along to any time they pop up on shuffle in my car.

on this album i feel like they take one part and just kind of build on it instead of adding other parts. i cant really describe it. then again after 5-6 albums and EPs of a very similar (yet successful) formula im sure they wanted to try something at least slightly different, i cant blame them.

I really dig "No Sunlight" "Cath" and "Your New Twin Sized Bed" ... all 3 of which could be a lot better than what they are. I reallllly like the drums and guitars and just overall production of those 3 songs. They are really good as they are, but could have been so much better.

rapidshare is the worst piece of shit ever. 2 minute queue and then having to type 4 blurry ass letters that have a cat icon intertwined?

not being able to find this on revott, usenet, or any other dupechecking mechanism seems sketchy.

it's free yeah, but they don't have to make it so hard to figure out the access code

jeez finally.

for a while the code was only four letter/numbers, and all had cats.

it's hard as fuck to figure out which is a cat and which is a dog when it's all stretched out like that, but oh well. it's still easy as hell to find free music, and dl it fast w/o having to worry about seeders or anything.

The new rapidshare cat code was tough to figure out the first time but I'm used to it now. Considering the we are getting free music from these sites I don't mind putting 20 seconds of effort.

I'm six songs into the DCFC album and I have no desire to listen to the second half. I was waiting during "Talking Bird" and "You Can Do Better Than Me" for something to happen, anything interesting at all, but nope.

thats pretty much what i was saying i felt like during a lot of this album. i kept waiting for the full song to actually kick in but in several of the songs it never happened.

i still enjoy the 3 i listed a lot but im having a hard time getting into the rest of the album today on my 3rd and 4th listen through here.

"Your New Twin Sized Bed" and "Long Division" are decent songs on the Narrow Stairs. The rest is so bad I can't believe that this was released. It really did sound like the album was just too long and the producer was like "Hey! Let's just cut the last minute or two off each song!"

I couldn't even make it through "Narrow Stairs" without cutting it off. Blech. I'll try again later.

On the other hand, I like the new Wolf Parade on first listen, though.

Fleet Foxes -- Ragged Wood (June 3rd, 2008)
hxxp://www.mediafire.com/?dmisjjbxamr

This is the newest release from Fleet Foxes --- it comes out in June. I was totally blown away by their Sun Giant EP from April, so I'm so psyched to download this when I get home from work. (pitchfork gave Sun Giant an 8.7 for those that it matters to)

These guys have the best "sound" I've heard in ages (yeah, yeah... my morning jacket did it first, but I dig it, lol).

I remarked earlier in this thread about hhow pissed off I was to miss them when they opened for Blitzen Trapper back in March --- Well, they're coming back playing the Local 506 in July. I'm getting my tickets before they blow up, because these guys are putting out some damn good material right now.

http://www.myspace.com/fleetfoxes

Also, I put "mykonos" from their EP on my muxtape thing if anyone wants to check that song out. It's not on their myspace and it's my favorite on their EP --- an epic song with a definite Neil Young vibe.

8 tracks from Weezer's upcoming red album have leaked and here they are.
