1st half of the season 1-5Second half so far4-1I smell crabcakes
11/17/2007 7:46:03 PM
i'd rather have jay davis or reggie ball than evans. i shit you not.
11/17/2007 7:46:16 PM
The way you guys treat Evans you'd think he was a 5* recruit. He should be a walk-on at Elon, not starting at NCSU.Cut him some slack. We're 5-6 with at team that should be 1-10.You guys are probably the same ones that beat your kid for spilling his milk.
11/17/2007 7:46:17 PM
in soviet russia, milk spills you!
11/17/2007 7:47:14 PM
on the brightside evans had positive rushing yardage(+2) Damn, we only had 57yds rushing.

our Defense was as bad as Evans
11/17/2007 7:48:35 PM
our defense was pretty solid for the most part, especially the 2nd half.[Edited on November 17, 2007 at 7:50 PM. Reason : ]

the defense gets a C, but they played well enough to put us in a position to win.

you obviously need to take another look at those passes.

no need to feed. Some people just need to take amato's red glasses off.

Daniel Evans and Adam Kiker are best friends.
11/17/2007 8:00:25 PM
So the best bowl game we can make if we win next week is Boise, right?Cause whoever wins between Maryland and State will be 6-6.There are 7 other teams with 7 or more wins in the ACC and they're required to get picked first. There's also Miami at 5-6, but the number of fans they'd take to Boise would be in single digits.

^^^^no you need to stop being such a douche bagYes some fans have way to high expectations but for the most part fans understand that A: our QB is below average B:our Qb throws copious amounts of pick 6's and C: you like to stir the hornets nest[Edited on November 17, 2007 at 8:04 PM. Reason : ^^]
11/17/2007 8:03:32 PM
No way Evans should be throwing the ball more than 56 times. That's more at bats than a typical baseball game
11/17/2007 8:14:05 PM
^true....I mean with Eugene and Brown coming back you'd think we would run a little bit more but jesus.....If evans throws that much its bound to be pick 6'd at least once.ugh

^we got away from the run way too early imo.It was slow going when we started but as the game went on we stated to carve out more yards.....In the end we relied too heavy on evans arm which is not the best thing to rely on.
11/17/2007 8:42:59 PM
i knew when everyone started assuming we were going to win this we were going to lose
11/17/2007 10:08:56 PM
I knew when Maryland lost that we were gonna lose . . . that way us and Maryland are playing for bowl eligibility. And I'll call it now that it will go down to the wire. This is NC State afterall and things are always close and get your heart pumping.
11/17/2007 10:14:03 PM
sorry guys. just wasnt in the cards for the pack. good game though... i've never been in a football stadium that small except maybe wallace wade. lots of state fans turned up too.... wake student section was cruel at heckling the few displaced state fans that sat nearby but you guys are the worst when it comes to that
11/17/2007 10:18:57 PM

Just got back, here's the deal.Wake was the better team on the field. Wake with a healthy Riley Skinner should beat this year's Pack team. Not to mention the fact that Wake was coming off an embarrassing loss and wanted to win their final home game of the season, while the Wolfpack were on the road and were coming off an emotional win at home against a rival. It was a tough draw, and I'm not surprised we lost. That being said, we still could have won this game. IMO this is why we lost:1) No rushing game - Wake's D-line controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game. Without a rushing game Evans was called on to throw 56 passes. Never a good sign. Evans is NOT a QB who can carry the team on his back. Evans has never had a good game without some semblance of a rushing attack to keep the defense honest. Instead he was repeatedly running for his life and getting knocked to the turf.2) Penalties - 10 of them for 90 yards to be exact. Dunno what the issue was on offense, but we had way too many freakin' false starts. Too many drives were killed by penalties tonight, which we couldn't afford given the struggles on offense.3) Turnovers - 3 INTs in 56 passing attempts sounds about right. Evans was forcing to many throws. He got away with several that should have been picked off. Bottom line, we lost the turnover battle for the first time in 5 weeks, so we lost for the 1st time in 5 weeks. End of story. On the plus side, the defense played great in the 2nd half. One bad play gave Wake it's only offensive TD in the final 30 minutes. A turnover set Wake up for an easy FG despite going 3-and-out. An INT was returned for a TD. Despite their struggles in the 1st half, the D was the main reason we had a shot at winning this game.I'm routinely depressed to see this useless bickering about Evans and whether he sucks. Face facts guys - his job is to get the ball to our playmakers. Hand it off to Baker Brown Eugene, throw it to Stone in the middle, loft it up for grabs so our big receivers can make a play. Evans is not a playmaker. He makes good decisions when given time to throw and a decent rushing attack to setup the pass. He had neither tonight, so he struggled. It's really not any more complicated than that.Evans does deserve to be criticized for his mistakes, which were plentiful. A lot of mistimed passes, too many false-starts, and no real talent for playmaking when a play breaks down. He doesn't have a cannon of an arm to force tough passes. He doesn't have the speed to scramble for a 1st down. Evans cannot and will not ever carry the burden for the offense. He will always throw 2-3 INTs when asked to throw the ball 40+ times......and none of this changes the fact that he's our best option under center and we're just going to have to deal with it until someone better comes along. Evans did not lose to Wake Forest. The Wolfpack lost to Wake Forest. And Evans, like the rest of the team, played his guts out and did his best. Yeah he didn't play well. Bitch about it if you need to get it off your chest. But at some point let's stop pretending that (1) we can lay this loss at Evans' feet, and (2) there's anything we can do about it until the next recruiting class comes in.[Edited on November 17, 2007 at 10:33 PM. from just a sports fan point of view, wake forest has to have the worst fans of all time, 0 cheering at all, unless is was a big 3rd down they would all stand up. they had one cheer...wakeeee...forestt, and they were just plain gay.
11/17/2007 11:00:12 PM
how about that halftime show? hahaha what the fuck was with the singing? and their marching band is smaller than my high school'spatheticon the upside, they were selling chic fil a sandwiches + chips and a cup of water for $4.50...not bad[Edited on November 17, 2007 at 11:03 PM. Reason : ]

11/17/2007 11:04:29 PM
there was a great State fan turnout at the game, i was impressed.penalties, penalties, penalties.....
11/17/2007 11:08:54 PM
yep i hate that stadium, shitty band, shitty fans that barely participate or cheer at all, they don't deserve a football team at allI swear the loudest they ever got was quieter than C-F with nothing special happening
11/17/2007 11:13:26 PM
the only thing i liked about the fans was the noise and how fast they picked up the wake.. forest.. cheerwhy is that so hard for us?
11/17/2007 11:14:31 PM

we changed it to "WEAK" in one chant, then later tried "WHITE" but that apparently wasn't so funny with the people around us...
11/17/2007 11:19:26 PM
some old timer NCSU alumn told me to remember that i represent my school while i was yellin "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" on defense.WTF is up with that shit?
11/17/2007 11:22:27 PM
well you know yelling is profane and the work of satanhe's probably just like all of the other geriatrics in that stadium that couldn't make noise to save their lives
11/17/2007 11:34:39 PM
when we don't run the ball, we will fucking lose. and don't give me this shit about "we were behind, we had to pass" or "wake's d line was too good".we only ran eugene 18 fucking times all night. i don't know what league we think we're in, but when you throw 3 times as much as you run, unless you play for hawaii or texas tech, you're gonna lose.i was screaming at the fucking tv the whole second half because we wouldn't run the ball. daniel evans is not a good QB, he's a starter by default, because we don't have another option. he's not awful, but he's not good, either. i blame the coaching staff, because they kept calling pass plays over and over. i mean, 7 rushes in the first half? what kind of shit is that?
11/17/2007 11:35:23 PM
YOU CANT RUN THE FUCKING BALL WHEN YOU'RE LOSING ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU'RE GETTING 2 YARDS PER RUSH IN THE FIRST PLACE.
11/17/2007 11:52:33 PM
that's horse shit. we ran it three times in the first quarter. THREE FUCKING TIMES. half of the rushes in the second quarter went for first downs. you have to at least try and run, especially when you clearly can't pass for shit.we started trailing heavy at 21-3, and before then there is no excuse for not trying to run more. how can you establish ANY sort of run game if you don't even try? you don't find it strange that wake rushed the ball more times in their first drive than we did in a whole half?TOB made a decision early on not to run the ball with any dedication.
11/18/2007 12:13:19 AM
^^you do realize both teams start the game with zero points right? both teams.and still we had abandoned the run game before the game even got underway. before we were down.
11/18/2007 12:18:46 AM
I suppose you would still bitch about the lack of running if we hang onto those balls that should have been caught all game too? Because that was more frustrating that the play calling to me. I mean shit, we execute everything and had guys open 10 times where they tried to catch it with their vaginas. Fuck that.^I guess going 3/out means we abandones the running game from the get go. How about Blackman's dropped pass on the first drive? [Edited on November 18, 2007 at 12:20 AM. Reason : ]
11/18/2007 12:18:57 AM
evans terrible passes far outweigh the few dropped passes.but yeah sucky game overall by pretty much everyone. it's a shame we didn't get to see if eugene would have had a sucky one or not.
