http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/2/671549.htmlAllen: 'I Felt Like I Would Fit Right In'By Steve CarterThe Tifton (Ga.) GazettePosted Aug 23, 2007 TIFTON — Already heavily recruited, Tift County Blue Devil Zach Allen was named the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman at a Nike camp held in Athens in April. That sent his stock up even higher as several Division I schools began to make offers to the 6-foot-3, 305-pound Allen.Wanting to get the recruiting process out of the way, Zach Allen verbally committed to North Carolina State University late Wednesday evening. The big senior is excited about going to Raleigh and suiting up next season with head coach Tom O’Brien’s Wolfpack.“It is a great city and I felt like I would fit right in when I got there,” said Allen. “The offensive line coach (Don Horton) has a good reputation for sending players to the NFL. The entire coaching staff is also good.”Keith Gosse, the offensive coordinator at Tift County, is happy for Allen.“It’s a real good situation. He’s worked hard and he deserved it,” said Gosse, who also serves as the team’s offensive line coach. “He has earned the opportunity and he is a great find for N.C. State.”The Tift County coach continued, “Zach is fully qualified, so it shows how hard he has worked in the classroom, as well.” (good, TOB seems to be getting guys that we don't have to worry about qualifying and will probably get a degree while they play here)Miller Safrit, a recruiting analyst with Scout.com, said Allen impressed N.C. State coaches early.“Allen became very important to N.C. State after having a tremendous camp (here) in the spring and received an offer over the summer,” Safrit said. “With the commitment, Allen takes up a spot along the interior of the offensive line where there are just one or two spots available for the Wolfpack and it really shows just how much new head coach Tom O'Brien really likes Allen as a prospect.”If he can step in early as a member of the Wolfpack, Allen is excited about a chance to play in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).“The competition level is crazy,” aid Allen. “The ACC is one of the biggest conferences in the nation and I am excited about getting my chance to play at that level.”With his Tift County team beginning the regular season a week from tonight at Brooks County, Allen is also excited about getting the recruiting process behind him.“I am happy to get it out of the way,” said Allen. “I just want to worry about football and my grades.”Allen will become the second member of his family to play at the Division I level. His older brother, Josh, is a senior this season at Troy University.[Edited on August 24, 2007 at 7:30 PM. Reason : ]

I can't believe the class we're putting togetherglad I have my LTR seats, they might become valuable once again
8/25/2007 11:22:56 AM
didnt know what thread to put this in, but check out this stat on Burke's senior year of high school
8/25/2007 1:52:18 PM
what is our class 08 ranked now?
8/25/2007 5:12:47 PM
^not sure there are ranking yet, but the guru's on statefans are guessing it is a top 15 class right now
8/25/2007 5:25:21 PM
19 on scout18 on rivals, but that is without Wallace I believe. It only has us listed with 11 recruits.
8/25/2007 5:31:27 PM
^^^^DE has better records than that.Evans I think has the 2nd most yards ever by a NC QB. Think he threw for 4000 his last two years?Sometimes those mean little when getting to college.
8/25/2007 5:57:57 PM
It sounds like these guys have the mobility to get out and pull in the running game.

well i guess its kinda relevant, being that the kid transferred to UF over UNC so we don't have to deal with his ass for 3 years. he's a talented RB, the fewer of those on the opposing sideline the better.if dude had made a new thread for it, people would've bitched at him then too.

^^^I know this topic was discussed somewhere. I saw a post on this guy a couple pages ago on this thread so I included it here.[Edited on August 27, 2007 at 2:47 PM. Reason : ^]

^^That brings up a good point, why haven't we moved Crouch to RT and Meares Green in at RG? Wouldn't that make more football sense?
8/27/2007 2:58:43 PM
^u don't move a kid thats played guard his whole career to tackle. Totally different position
8/27/2007 3:38:56 PM
His whole career? I am almost positive he would have been a tackle all through high school at that size. He has tackle written all over him.
8/27/2007 4:03:53 PM
He was recruited as a tackle and played tackle all through high school, but a depleted oline pushed him into the guard position.

Mike Glennon needs some help here folks. It's for the EA player of the year poll. He is in 2nd right now by just a few votes.http://ssfootball.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=1748&tid=100010463&mid=100010463&sid=1112&style=2
9/6/2007 11:49:03 AM
your post makes it sound like he is in second for EA Player Of The Year . . . that poll is for who should be moved into the top 9
9/6/2007 2:19:32 PM
We're recruiting this guy who plays QB for Hopewell HS in Charlotte (well Huntersville technically, but it's pretty much Charlotte).http://ncstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=62164&sport=1http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=3132438http://www.charlotte.com/sports/story/286889.html

"wants to play special teams"definitely team first. sign him up if he's got the talent.
9/21/2007 8:13:44 PM
Sounds like a good kid, team player, great athlete, and wants to sign with us.I like it.

Also I saw someone mention that T.J. Graham ran back the opening kickoff for a TD in tonights game.http://forums.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=178&f=2515#s=178&f=2515&t=1071085

http://tinyurl.com/2bk6voMaryland LB Takes in NC StateBy Steve WilliamsFootball Recruiting AnalystDate: Sep 25, 2007Although the Pack has secured commitments from three top-notch linebackers, they continue to leave the door open for adding a fourth at some point down the road. This past weekend they hosted one of Maryland’s best in Dalonte Wallace from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD.http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=3069412http://ncstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=50800&sport=1Schools of interestClemson IllinoisNC StatePenn StateSyracuseVirginia TechAkronBuffaloEastern MichiganJames MadisonSo far only Akron, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, and James Madison have offered. A lot of teams are awaiting to see tape on him before they offer. I know that's the case for Maryland. For some reason Maryland high school football seems to be always overlooked despite having decent football played there.[Edited on September 25, 2007 at 5:58 PM. Reason : ]

9/25/2007 6:23:53 PM
Yeah I didn't quite understand why PP thought it was weird we were going after a 4th LB, considering we are going to the 3-4 soon.
9/25/2007 6:27:01 PM
We need to recruit hard for some good linemen (especially a NT) if we want that to work.
9/25/2007 6:29:30 PM
for the 4th LB spot, i hope we end up with kevin reddick out of new bern. he'll probably be a heel or pirate though.
9/25/2007 6:38:39 PM
yeah, I've seen him play a couple of times. That kid's dirty (in a good way). He'd be great next to Maddox in the middle. Unfortunately, I think you're right. I'm pretty sure he's a lock for Carolina.
9/25/2007 7:17:31 PM
I know 5* WR Deion Walker is a little bit of a longshot, but if TOB got him to come to State our class would be insane. I can imagine it now being similar to Rivers to Cotchery, the Bama Boys. Glennon to Walker, the Virginia Boys or the boys from the Old Dominion.
9/25/2007 7:31:43 PM
Looks like we made 4* DE Quinton Coples Top 4 along with Tennessee, North Carolina, and Florida State. Look for him to make an official visit in the future. He's rated the #21 DE in the country.http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=2913776
9/28/2007 7:26:20 PM
Kevin Reddick would be a good pickup. He is very strong and powerful. Started out his high school career as a fullback. But ya he does seem to be leaning towards carolina

i like that list of schoolslooks like a speed demonand that red sureeeeeeeeeee does look good on him
10/2/2007 6:21:57 PM
Scout says he has a 40 inch vertical and Rivals says he has a 41 inch vertical. I guess those numbers are from two different combines.
10/2/2007 6:35:50 PM
deion walkerwe might not be mentioned by him when he reveals a "top" list to the recruiting services... but i find it interesting he has visited NC State unofficially SEVERAL times.
10/2/2007 7:14:42 PM
Man if we got Deion Walker that would be amazing. The idiots bad mouthing Red Tom would have to shut it. Walker would probably get the opportunity to play immediately even though we have quality receivers, Blackman and Dunlap are graduating. Here's what the wide receiving corps projects to look like next year (includes only those that will could see serious action, so no walk-ons):Donald Bowens *** Jr.Darrell Davis ** RSo.Steven Howard *** RFr. or So.Jay Smith **** RFr. or So.Owen Spencer *** RFr. or So.Jarvis Williams ** Jr.T.J. Graham ** Fr.While we have pretty decent talent, there isn't a whole lot of depth, and he could easily come in and be on the 2 deep depth chart from the start, perhaps even win a starting position.
10/2/2007 7:44:08 PM
too bad he'll end up at FSU
10/2/2007 10:32:49 PM
I stand corrected. Per PP, we continue to hang around in the hunt for Walker. He's been to State 6-7 times already this year, so that's encouraging. But FSU will be hard to beat considering the EJ Manuel love connection.
10/3/2007 12:43:58 PM
Deon Walker would be better off playing DB for FSU if he wants to catch balls from our QBs.
10/3/2007 1:51:36 PM
we're gonna have to hope deion trusts his boy from VA, mike glennon, will be the real deal for us.he is all about some EJ Manuel but it would be pretty damn sweet if this guy ended up comin to raleigh.someone needs to tell deion to watch the cards/rams this weekend and tell him to watch the # of ncsu players (atleast playmakers).
10/3/2007 1:54:12 PM
Willie Young might be better at OLB in a 3-4 scheme. If we move to that, we need plenty of playmaking linebackers as well as bigger, stronger 2-gap linemen.
10/3/2007 2:20:23 PM
Packpride says Walker visited state yet again. Any updates on where we stand with him? Landing two 5 star recruits in TOB's first class would be sick
10/5/2007 12:35:46 AM
we need to be offering another qb recruit, IMO.Im really tired of banking on one qb to change our system. Give me 5 OL, 2 QB every year until we improve, and Ill be happy. Anything short of that at this point is really scary.
10/5/2007 9:10:43 AM
^^ Walker basically said that he likes PSU, FSU, et al in terms of football and thinks they have the best atmosphere, etc. However, he said that in terms of "off the field" factors, NCSU is best because he has a lot of friends there, likes the area, etc. He isn't too keen on our football team.
10/5/2007 9:16:13 AM
10/5/2007 9:21:02 AM
10/5/2007 9:30:53 AM
10/5/2007 9:34:35 AM
We are so thin at OL right now we could easily take 5 or 6 for a year or two (maybe with 1 or 2 being JUCO) before getting settled in with 3-4 each year.I've seen Glennon play, and he definitely looks like he has the physical tools. His leadership/decisionmaking looks pretty good at the HS level, but you never know how they are going to make the transition to reading college defenses and playing against a college pass rush.
