thats not what he said. he said that he had won a championship and he coached in the league, nothing wrong with that." im not sure how that was misquoted so bad

If Hansbrough, Wright and McRoberts all go pro (which is very likely), our frontline could just about dominate the ACC offensively next year. Thornton, Visser and Ibekwe are seniors also. Looking good already.
2/20/2007 12:07:03 PM
^Wright going pro is a STRONG possibility. But I don't think McRoberts' stock is going to be nearly as high this year so I expect he'll stay and hope for a stronger showing next season with a better team around him. And I have a strong feeling that ol' Hansblow will be there for 4.
2/20/2007 12:30:50 PM
i wouldn't be surprised if half of unc's roster went pro. unless roy gives them stuff to stay =Xlol nevermind, roy wouldn't do that.
2/20/2007 12:34:53 PM
Tyler has said he will stay for four yearsWright is goneits not the deepest of drafts yet again for big men so there may be a pretty large bit of the ACC going this year

Some folks are saying they don't think he has a committable scholarship... who knows
2/27/2007 10:13:35 PM
so as it stands right now whats our recruiting situation, commits, transfers, scollys available, etc?
2/27/2007 10:41:14 PM
^^^hopefully it means, "later on bartoz"
2/27/2007 10:44:55 PM
lets see... our staff knows more than tww. who cares if we "dont have an offer available". if we offer, we have one available. he has offers from some small schools plus wash st., lsu and apparently nc state. dont think dowdell was a highly ranked recruit and look what he has become. if sidney lowe and monty towe think he is capable of being an ACC PG, then i'll take their word for it.
2/27/2007 10:45:35 PM
^ rumor has it lsu offered too. that's kindof a loose rumor, though.
2/27/2007 10:50:09 PM
im looking forward to basketball next year, much more so than football actually
2/27/2007 11:00:49 PM
next year, i'm looking forward more to basketball than football.over the next, say 5 years, i think they're both going to take off. here's to hoping our excitement isn't uncalled for.
2/27/2007 11:03:46 PM
yea, if we go to a bcs bowl next year in out first year with red tom then ill up the excitement for football
2/27/2007 11:15:51 PM
Dude why are you posting that shit in legit threads? This Javi kid is a little small but looks like he can ball. Are we really expecting someone to leave after next year besides Grant finishing up?
2/28/2007 2:04:54 AM
I think the point is that Javi looks like Rupaul
2/28/2007 2:25:08 AM
not that much

3/2/2007 11:27:04 AM
I like him. He looks like a thug, but it sounds like he can ball..and it a true 1, which we haven't had for oh so very long. And for those of you who and whining about us going after Javi and no Lucas...Lucas is long gone, and we're going after the player ranked #2 behind Lucas. What more do you want?
3/2/2007 11:28:40 AM
LSU, Duquesne, and Hofstra??? Where are the big boys??
3/2/2007 11:31:29 AM
Last I heard, LSU was a pretty big boy.But you do raise a good point. Why are more people not drooling over this guy and offering him? Too early?[Edited on March 2, 2007 at 11:36 AM. Reason : ]
3/2/2007 11:35:46 AM
So we actually offered? I didn't catch that before. Ok. The rumors can officially start. Who is transferring? We know no one is going pro (unless they are absolute idiots like Powell x 25). Bartosz? He is the only one other than Horner it would make sense for from a RS/playing time perspective..**and i like the hispanic PGs. I'd love to have Vasquez.. the energy he brings to the floor is amazing..
3/2/2007 11:42:49 AM
What was Guillermo Diaz rated coming out of high school?Nevermind I found it. He was a 4 * prospect.http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=13&p=8&c=1&nid=477087Zabian Dowdell was only a 2 * prospect and he turned out pretty well. Sometimes good players just aren't discovered early. Monte Towe wasn't a highly recruited prospect, but turned out to be one of the best PG's we ever had.[Edited on March 2, 2007 at 12:20 PM. Reason : ]

3/2/2007 12:22:58 PM
According to Scout he is an unrated 3*.. not a very highly rated recruit.. and I was mistaken about his size. The recruiting sites have him listed at 6'0" 165..--- 39th best PG in the class via Scout.. Jai is 7th (1 behind Chris Wright)V that's an awfully big gamble to take. It's one thing when you are talking about football with 25 man classes and knowing a hanful won't qualify but with only 3 incoming players I'd hate for us to have to reneg on a scholly...[Edited on March 2, 2007 at 12:29 PM. 3/2/2007 12:26:06 PM
Javi didnt commit because he didnt have any good offers to take. He came on late but is having an incredible season. Everyone has known for a long time that Jai can ball, except teams semi-recruited over him because of his size...so he waited for a possible better situation. ^to the rumors about who is transfering, I'd say there's as good of a chance that someone doesnt qualify...like Tracy Smith who we havent heard anything about since he committed. I, like all of you, wish we could have gotten Wright or Lucas, but since that isn't going to happen we needed to get the next best player available. If Degand goes down to injury early next year we are screwed. Maybe Javi is truly a 3 * player, maybe he's a diamond in the rough that within a year or two will be very developed. Kammron Taylor of Wisconsin was only a 2 * player, and Acie Law of TAMU was only a 3 * player. They're now tearing it up at their respective schools. Hopefully if he comes here then he'll become a reliable PG that will give us 4 good years, and we'll give him a free world class education in return.[Edited on March 2, 2007 at 12:35 PM. Reason : commas]
3/2/2007 12:33:12 PM
Law and Dowdell are the exceptions to the rule. I don't have a problem with locking up another PG but that pretty much precludes us from any PG for the next 3-4 years considering Javi would have 4 yrs and Degand and Johnson will have 3 years of eligiblity left. No team is going to carry more than 3 scholly PGs (hell most only have 2)..I'm not sure I'm high on keeping our options so limited in the next few years with what could turn out to be less than optimal PG situations. We all know how important it is to have a true 1 running the show..In a vacuum I'd love to have Javi though based on what I've read.-----I forgot about Mays.. wtf? We are going to have FOUR sholly PGs??? That doesn't even make sense. Oh well, they know better than me.[Edited on March 2, 2007 at 12:48 PM. Reason : johnson will be a 2 eventually with his size I bet..]
3/2/2007 12:37:51 PM
the next signing period is when...April? Everyone is expected for Smith to sign when the day comes around again.i would love to get Javi. The more i read up on him the more i am impressed. In agreement w/ NYM...i too like hispanic point guards / esp. if they are a true 1
3/2/2007 12:39:21 PM
Well hopefully Julius Mays will be able to come in and contribute and become our main option by his second year. I don't know why he's rated as a 3 * prospect. Everything I've heard about this guy sounds great. Some stories even say he's got a great chance at being Mr. Basketball in the state of Indiana for his senior season.
3/2/2007 12:43:04 PM
Where are all these rumors about Tracy Smith's supposed academic problems coming from?
3/2/2007 12:44:24 PM
i have no idea. i've heard he has a stellar gpa and scored 1100 on the sat
3/2/2007 12:45:17 PM
Mays chose us over Indiana and Michigan State and a few other schools....he will be good.http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=389&p=8&c=1&nid=2578013[Edited on March 2, 2007 at 12:49 PM. Reason : scout page]
3/2/2007 12:49:20 PM
Yeah, from what I've heard he could almost get into state without academics.I think the qualification issues come from the school he goes to. But not his actual smarts.

so that will make 7 guys coming in next year that aren't playing right now? HicksonSmithThomasBartosz DelegandJohnsonGonzalez
3/2/2007 12:58:23 PM
^^ i see what you mean... damn. I just cant believe that Sidney would recruit him from that school if he knew there would be problems with the school being recognized. Why were so many other big schools going after him too? Also "common knowledge" does not warrant research.... You underestimate how much you know about this stuff compared to most other "common" ppl...^Cut Bartosz, he's a wash and we all know it... we gambled on him this year and it didnt work out.[Edited on March 2, 2007 at 1:01 PM. he said back durin the start of the season that everything was cleared up and they were letting him come, how much of that was tru im not sure
