lol, just as they come out with the D2Xs
6/7/2006 10:39:54 PM
^he means he actually found a lost camera and returned it to the owner.-ZiP!-
6/8/2006 10:16:41 AM
how the fuck do you lose a D2X... thats like losing a car. the thing is large and expensive. i think if i had one it'd never leave my pants unless i was taking a picture...thats right i said it... never leave my pants... i'd have it in the front so i could feel more manly.
6/8/2006 10:19:33 AM
100% crop, no noise reduction aplied anywhere. Also, using Nikon Capture, I bumped the EV 1/3 stop so that would bring even more noise, so it is basically an ISO 2000
6/8/2006 10:35:12 AM
i must say... not bad... i'm glad you are online sirPM sending
6/8/2006 10:41:50 AM
^^ Very cool man. Thanks for the full sized images. Look'n good.
6/8/2006 12:23:37 PM
Some trash on the end table next to me while I has hanging out at my buddy's place the other night.Someone sucks at being neat with paint.Intimidation.
6/8/2006 12:31:45 PM
so ronny, do you black out the background or is that just how it turns out?
6/8/2006 12:35:49 PM
Just how it turns out. There was a bunch of change and a picture frame behind it, but they didn't show up since it was dark enough.
6/8/2006 12:37:40 PM
cool
6/8/2006 12:38:38 PM
Actually, I know what happened. From that angle, all I could see other than the bottle was the wall. I metered to the glare spot in the bottle, so everything is a bit underexposed which is why the white wall looks black.[Edited on June 8, 2006 at 12:41 PM. Reason : .]
6/8/2006 12:41:29 PM
I like that foosball picture.
6/8/2006 12:45:20 PM
he's all like "YA CAIN'T RUN BITCH"
6/8/2006 12:46:43 PM
makes sensei also wondered if you did that with the smoke one... from a while back... girl with smoke pouring from her mouth. looked cool either way.. gotta go lata
6/8/2006 12:51:51 PM
Yeah, there was an empty room behind her with a wall at the other end. Since the wall was so far away and dimly lit, I exposed for her face, which underexposed the wall. Same type of thing.
6/8/2006 12:54:02 PM
spot metering > *
6/8/2006 12:54:44 PM
True that. The 30D has supposedly a new and bombass spot metering system.
6/8/2006 12:56:12 PM
took canon long enough i remember spot metering on my old ass n6006 film camera, and all subsequent nikons.
6/8/2006 3:59:57 PM
i rarely use anything but spot metering yo
6/8/2006 4:13:00 PM
thanks for the tip, i may have to read about spot metering in my manual during my flight tonighti've only done spot focusing thus far-ZiP!-
6/8/2006 4:19:06 PM
matrix metering is awesome in most situations, but if you do anything with backlighting spot is the way to go. Center-weighted metering has actually become my most used metering mode outdoors if I use aperture priority.
6/8/2006 4:34:32 PM
^^its super easy on canonsi have no clue how you do it on nikons
6/8/2006 4:35:18 PM
excuse my noobness, but what do you guys mean with the f##, is that the shutter speed?and what does adjusting the apature meanthanks guys, great shots

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F_stopUseful information. It is a lot to read, but it covers pretty much everything.
6/8/2006 4:55:32 PM
What are some good places to practice shooting around Raleigh? Campus is only so much fun.
6/8/2006 5:16:37 PM
its crazy that something as "basic" or "elementary" as f-stops are so complicated really. any question about aperature is a good question, because that is basically asking about the foundation of the "photography" building. and its always good to know what the foundation is made out of... no matter how high the building is.ok sorry for the metaphor. it was accidental.
6/8/2006 5:20:04 PM
^^I just got back from Oakwood cemetary. Downtown always has some cool stuff. Just walk around and be creative.
6/8/2006 6:10:47 PM
another picture
6/8/2006 6:23:06 PM
as per chocolatervh's suggestion, i'll post some pics, though1.) i'm a MAJOR n00b at this so my pics will suck2.) i'm using a lumix dmc-fz30, which isn't technically a DSLR3.) i've cropped all my images so they'll fit, and they're the jpegs created by the camera, so they look worse than the RAW (converted into DNG) filesbees on my parents' farm:my brother burning his senior paper from high school since he graduates tomorrow hail from a couple of weeks agosnake that crawled into one of my mouse cages and ate one of my pregnant breeders rose in my girlfriend's parents' gardenas i mentioned, i'm a huge n00b at this, and so i'm still practicing and learning about the different settings (the fz30 has a full-featured manual mode)...feel free to criticize, comment, or suggest anything, though i think i really just need to practice a lot more because these pictures aren't that great, i know[Edited on June 8, 2006 at 6:49 PM. 6/9/2006 2:36:58 AM
Some shots from the cemetary the other day.The other night my buddy and I had the idea for this collage. It was my first attempt at any "artistic" postprocessing. It came out "meh" but at least I got some practice.
6/9/2006 3:24:48 PM
At the risk of sounding analog, does anybody know of a place that develops and prints 120 format film? I've been messing around with my Holga some this week and don't want to bother developing it myself. I don't have the stuff to make prints, either.
6/9/2006 8:05:17 PM
Not a clue dude. If you're a member of Flickr, there are a bunch of people on the Raleigh group that have Holgas. I can message one of them to ask if you aren't on that site.
6/9/2006 8:21:19 PM
I have a flickr account. Thanks for the tip.
6/9/2006 8:22:46 PM
http://www.cpq.net/ does all of our 120 stuff, and does a great job on proofs and reprints. We go through 80-100 rolls a week and get stuff back in about 7 days, including shipping both ways.
6/9/2006 9:21:24 PM
wolf does it, but they have to send it out to be done i'm pretty sure.
