have any of you all in TWW have a Uberti. I really want a SAA in 45 long colt. I know a colt is out of the question at this time and stage in my life. So is it ok as a shooter? If so pick it up then save up to hold on to the colt[Edited on October 30, 2012 at 7:56 PM. Reason : fml]

Uberti has a pretty good reputation and I've handled many of them.Their handguns are reasonably priced although I think their rifles are a bit high.Their rifles are beautiful though...Be aware that the case-hardening isn't real but rather a chemical bath. The finish will likely come off in short order even with relatively light use. Again, it's not the real deal, so I would suggest getting the Uberti if you really want a shooter. It will probably need a trigger job as every Uberti I've ever handled had a trigger at least as stiff as a stock Ruger SA.On the other hand you will see some stories on Google of factory-stock guns having dangerously light ones. What barrel length, grip, and finish are you considering?

brass in 5-1/2case-hardened walnut grip. Side note, Need ideas to hit a "target" with a Parker-Hale WHITWORTH @ 400 yrd, which is the max I can do at home. iron plate rig or something. My dad really wants to hit a target at 400 with it so I am looking something sound wise to let you know you made the mark. thanks

Got my sub2k back today! That was rather quick!!!!Report says they replaced the barrel. They also replaced the entire bolt assembly, including the charging handle, and refinished the bolt tube for me. They even gave me a new box, tools, and the factory manual; items the previous owner lost.A+++ Service. I am beyond impressed. They did, however, forget to send me my check for $26.xx for the shipping they said they would reimburse. However, considering practically a new gun from them and they went beyond my expectations in restoring the entire rifle, I'm not going to debate it. $326.xx + $20 gas for a "new" Sub2k in .40 Glock. Heck of a deal.

Anybody know where I can get my SIG's slide done with duracoat or cerakote and a price?
11/2/2012 7:02:27 PM
Anybody here with a CHP have their handgun mounted in their car? (In some clever way, better yet.) I'm contemplating trying to mount a holster under the bottom of the dash where it's out-of-sight, but could still be accessible. I go to far too many places which forbid me from carrying during a regular day, so I've taken to just leaving my handgun in the car.
11/5/2012 11:21:34 AM
I used to use a small lock box that was cable locked to my seat. Sure you could get it with some cable cutters but most people breaking into your car will not have cable cutters.

Working on the AR. It is getting a refresh. Transferring all the parts from one AR to another foundation. War Sport lower with VLTOR MUR upper in Colt gray.
11/5/2012 10:44:04 PM
I do like that color
11/6/2012 7:55:25 AM
To my surprise, I got a check in the mail covering the shipping to kel tec.W00T
11/6/2012 9:41:02 AM
my friend said he saw standard WASR-10s for sale on gunbroker for like $900 this morninghere we fucking go again
11/6/2012 11:56:53 AM
I really doubt the panic buying will be that bad this time but I am glad I have basically everything I planned on buying for the foreseeable future. Only other thing might be a match barrel for my AR-10, decided that would be a better option than a precision .223 and I doubt people will be panic buying those
11/6/2012 12:32:07 PM
I just had a tragic boating accident......
11/6/2012 11:52:09 PM

11/7/2012 12:17:04 AM
Need a home defense weapon... May as well get an AR instead of a shotgun and go on a boating trip real quick
11/7/2012 12:44:46 AM
I had a pretty bad boating accident earlier this week myself. Lost 4-5 guns at the bottom of Jordan Lake
11/7/2012 12:48:50 AM
that's a damn shame
11/7/2012 8:52:18 AM
My wife told me I shouldn't have taken all of my firearms with me on that kayak I rented last night and damn if she wasn't right, lost them all.Sigh, fingers crossed for no new gun legislation and no extreme anti 2nd amendment supreme court nominations over the next four years.
11/7/2012 12:40:16 PM
Can we get details on the boating accidents?
11/7/2012 2:18:34 PM
Awesome simple-minded jokes for the dumb fear-mongers who think Obama is going to take your guns, guys! (If you fucks make it impossible for me to buy ammo for months again I'm going to be so pissed)
11/7/2012 2:29:49 PM
^this. if I can't find decent priced .380 I'm going to be pissed; I'm about out and forgot to get more.

the last one didn't cause them to come take your gunsalso it took democrats years to recover from the political damage from that, no way they try again[Edited on November 7, 2012 at 3:03 PM. Reason : so yes, dumb fear monger]
11/7/2012 3:03:29 PM
I went out yesterday and today to try and buy .223 for my class this weekend.3 walmarts are sold out.1 local gun shop that stocks it was sold out1 local gun shop hasn't sold any, as their prices are through the roof normally.1 local gun shop jacked their prices up and won't budge. So, ammo is already getting hard to find.I ended up getting a can of silver bear because it was still a somewhat reasonable price.
11/7/2012 3:06:42 PM
You waited for the wrong time to try to find some .223. Glad I bought a ton of reloading stuff already, I should be pretty set for a good long while minus a few items here or there.
11/7/2012 3:17:28 PM
^^well, duh? It's the same knee-jerk as last time. everyone screamed about the pending shortage and gun control...when lordy lordy firearm and ammunition sales are at the highest they have ever been - manufacturers are some happy folk right now.[Edited on November 7, 2012 at 3:18 PM. Reason : -]

i don't think the majority of the folks who stock up on ammo around election time do it because they're afraid the new president will propose some sort of ammo/gun ban legislation. they do it because they think others are afraid the new president will propose some sort of ammo/gun ban legislation.self-fulfilling prophecy[Edited on November 7, 2012 at 3:30 PM. Reason : i stocked up on primers at regular prices months ago and not b/c i think new laws are coming]

Finished the refresh on the AR. I think I may get the foliage Magpul stock instead of the OD.
11/7/2012 10:23:12 PM
Welp, ordered an AUG A3 NATO.Last one in stock too, lucky me.
11/8/2012 4:45:51 PM
^^ Why not just spray the stock? You sprayed the rest of the furniture
11/8/2012 4:53:48 PM
^I have had bad experiences with paint on plastic. I may try it on the off side of the stock and see how it holds up this weekend.Everything that I applied paint to is metal.
11/8/2012 5:26:27 PM
JK where did you order the AUG from? Was it about $1800?Let me know when it arrives and do a range review. What cheap magazines work well in a Glock 17? Factory are a bit pricey-[Edited on November 8, 2012 at 5:56 PM. Reason : -]
11/8/2012 5:42:15 PM
Some of the Korean and Chinese mags work, and some don't. It really is a crap shoot on whether they will be reliable or not.If you watch for deals, you can find the factory mags for <$20 each every few months.
11/8/2012 6:00:07 PM
^^ http://www.pjs-steyraug.com/USAUG.htmlThey may have more standard AUGs in, but not sure. I got the last NATO according to the guy.
11/8/2012 11:49:00 PM
Also I just realized this thing ships without iron sights. Are the Magpul MBUS pretty good? I'm also looking at an eotech 553.
11/9/2012 11:19:37 AM
^ I've found the Magpul sights to be perfectly serviceable.
11/9/2012 11:38:16 AM
I have seen the magpuls be stepped on and dropped while attached to rifles and suffer no damage.I would say they are good to go as back ups. I would still consider metal if you want something that you can hang off of and really beat up.

I have an Uberti SAA in .357 and I absolutely love it. Probably my most fun gun to shoot. It shoots great and is a beautiful design. It feels just like you think a six shooter should feel.
11/10/2012 10:30:37 PM
Anyone have experience with a Colt Python? I found one at a decent price and might go for it. I've heard great things but don't have any hands on with one.
11/10/2012 11:41:49 PM
^ any idea what year? At any rate if the price is right get it. [Edited on November 11, 2012 at 7:49 AM. Reason : a]

I saw an ad in the sports section of N&O today for the XD Essential package for $329.99 (9mm or 40, with case, two clips, cleaning supplies, etc). That seems like a great deal. The best I've seen anyone selling online is $399 and that was months ago on slickdeals. What am I missing? Is it possibly used? A loss leader? The ad was for Perry's Gun Shop. Also looking at a Ruger LC9 9mm for the same price ($329) at Gander Mountain on Black Friday. What do you guys think is a better gun for a novice that wants to learn to shoot and have something for home defense?
11/11/2012 9:03:51 PM
Yeah I want to get a 9mm 1911 now and then a python/anacondaThey are such pretty guns
11/11/2012 9:54:59 PM
An xd for $329 is a damn good deal to me
