I have a netbook just for surfing and playing chess (installed .exe) and that pretty much all I do with it. I would love to replace my netbook with something as thin and light as this thing, and not have to use my laptop board to make sure that the fan vent is uncovered are all the things that would make me want this, however since I can't install a few .exe files I'll pass. Hell if I could install some apps to it I MIGHT would go for it ...EDIT - so apparently you can install apps on it ... would I have access to the full Google Play store?Oh I think I see, its apps from the Chrome store..[Edited on October 21, 2012 at 5:14 PM. I picked up a Transformer TF300 the other day after wanting something a little bigger than my Nexus 7. Wow, what a piece of shit. I couldnt get over how bad it was. Quadrant score was a 2800! I took it back last night and swapped it for a Galaxy Note 10.1 and love it. It lives up to every positve review that I read and can't find any of the issues in the negative reviews (primarily a cheap flexible build and tons of lag. It's blazing fast (quadrant = 5300 after 18 hours without rebooting or closing any apps). The pen is fantastic and exactly what I've wanted since I got my first iPad a few years ago. It will be great in the field. The only thingnthat I'm not 100% satisfied with is the stock keyboard's auto corection. It seems to work only part of the time and even then not so well. I would really like to find something as good as Swiftkey that maintains the stock ability of a split layout.[Edited on October 21, 2012 at 6:22 PM. Reason : wtf? up = iPhone? meh quadrant is overratedLooks like Google will be announcing a 10" Samsung Nexus tablet, 32GB Nexus 7 (some have already manged to get one from staples) and LG Nexus on Oct 29th.http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-nexus-10-reported-once-again-run-google-event

^ I agree to an extent but such a large disparity can help show performance differences. You probably wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference between 4500 & 5000 but when 2 quad cores are separated by 50% and the only major differences are RAM, I think the difference is staggering (especially considering the TF300 was on JB while the GNote is still on ICS.

So I'm slightly interested in getting a tablet in the next year or so... mostly for browsing at home or on the road. It would also be nice to use a "media center', where I could connect to my windows machine via wifi and to my HTIB mostly for music. I doubt I'd sign up for/use the cell service, though I'm undecided on that part. Any suggestions? I really haven't kept up with tablets, so I'm out of the loop completely.

Wait a couple of days. Rumor is that Google is releasing a 10" Nexus tablet on Monday. Otherwise the Nexus 7, Galaxy Note 10.1, and Transformer Infinity are the top choices. There's no reason to get something other than the Nexus 7 if you want a 7" but there are several lower cost 10" tabs to choose from. The Transformer TF300 is shit (mine was beyond horrible, there was actually another guy returning his at the exact same time as I returned mine, and the BB cs rep told they get them back all the time) but I don't have any experience with any others.

the Nexus 10 will supposedly be announced Monday but released in early 2013

best .CBR viewer/reader?- I tried ACV and like how it automatically goes to the next file in the folder when you turn the last page, but I got too many memory errors that didn't allow certain pages to show up- I tried Perfect Viewer but its pretty tedious to switch from one volume to another, but no memory/page errors- I tried Moon Reader, which is less tedious than Perfect Viewer, but doesn't automatically switch to the next file in the folder like ACV, and the transitions between pages are a little slowany suggestions?

comic rack and komik are two others you can try.

thanksComicRack seems to be the fastest, memory errors, and will easily go to next file

When I bought an Android in 2010 after having an iphone for 3 years, I got rid of it after a month and switched to a windows phone, which i've otherwise enjoyed except for the fact that my phone has been a PITA since june (battery can't tell if it's charging or not, half the time to make a call i have to reboot). i've had my eye on the lumia 920 for a while, but since I got a Nexus 7 to replace my iPad last month, it didn't feel as small as I was expecting and it was too awkward to use on my commute.long story short, instead of the lumia 920 + nexus 7, i'm converging my phone/tablet and picked up a Galaxy Note 2 last night.

How do you like it? I pre-ordered the galaxy note 2 yesterday on Verizon.

Been messing with juice defender. It's awesome. During work hours (8-6): connectivity is always on. Then off hours connectivity goes off with the screen and checks on 15m intervals. On the weekend this interval gets changed to 30m. Then at night it goes into airplane mode automatically. The wifi also automatically turns on/off based upon my location (tower not gps). So when I'm at home the wifi goes on - LTE goes off, etc. Seems to be saving a lot of battery life as the biggest phone drain is the 4g/LTE connectivity which is always on even while the phone's sleeping by default.
10/29/2012 10:21:24 AM
^ is all that available in the free version?if not, it's not worth paying for, as go power master will do the big power saving things and is way easier to use (unless juice has changed their interface): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex.gowidget.gopowermasterif so, it might be worth plowing through for the extra 30 minutes juice will give you
10/29/2012 10:32:09 AM
I'll give it a shot. I didn't try it out initially because it doesn't seem to have all the same scheduling/trigger tools as Juice Defender (peak hours/night hours/etc). Also I don't see a location based wifi on/off. The big battery saver is knowing when to turn off the LTE radio and go power master seems to only allow for data off/screen but not on a schedule.http://androidheadlines.com/2012/08/featured-top-10-best-battery-saving-apps-for-android.html[Edited on October 29, 2012 at 10:46 AM. 10/29/2012 10:39:53 AM
oh, hands down juice defender gives you more specific control over...everythingno doubt you'll get better energy savings than you will with go power masteri just wasn't sure if all of those features were available in the free version...it's been a while since i tried juice defender and i found it to be over-complicated for my purposes and some of the features i wanted were pay-onlygo power master more than doubles the battery life on my thunderbolt (even with the lean ICS ROM i'm running) and it took all of 90 seconds to set it up like i wanted...juice defender took more time than it was worth (to me) to make it any better than gpm
10/29/2012 10:54:37 AM
Yeah I went ahead and paid for the ultimate edition. It's worth the battery savings in my opinion. It does take a little messing around with to get the best settings but the UI isn't bad. Compared to tasker it's easy. That app has a learning curve.

10/29/2012 2:19:41 PM
Yeah the no LTE or SD slot keeps me away from Nexus phones. Looks like a nice device otherwise though. Now the 10" Nexus at 2560 by 1600 looks pretty awesome.v finally so I can get away from Widget locker. [Edited on October 29, 2012 at 2:42 PM. Reason : s]

So what is the best LTE android phone out now (or coming out soon)
10/29/2012 3:28:23 PM
GSIII or Galaxy Note 2 if you want something bigger. hmm...nexus 10 is $100 cheaper than their respective 16 and 32GB ipad models but 2x the comparable Nexus 7. Wonder how many will sacrifice screen size and just get the Nexus 7. And who knows if google will wait 4 months and pull the same thing they did with the Nexus 7 by announcing one with more storage for the same price.

11/1/2012 4:01:34 PM
(samsung) galaxy nexus
11/1/2012 6:27:42 PM
I thought it didn't have LTE and wasn't available on Verizon? I had android in the past and wasn't happy, but I read that it's great on a new device. I am going to try out this and a new windows hone back to back to decide what I want.
11/1/2012 7:31:49 PM
The LG Nexus 4 is the upcoming GSM-only nexus. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus was released on Verizon last december and supports their CDMA/LTE network. Verizon's handling of it has pretty much been a huge debacle which is why google has basically told them to go fuck themselves with the Nexus 4.

Running Paranoid Android on my Nexus 7. Damn it's a great ROM. It is really what CM10 should be feature wise. It's snappy and allows me to customize it. If it had the muscle CM has behind it, it could be better.
