I wouldnt say no onecared. It appears that there were some in the administration who thought this should have been made public months ago. But thats beside the point. The fact of the matter is that there was a MAJOR attack on our computer systems, which might have swayed the election. It doesnt really matter what public opinion was at the time, it was clearly not handled correctly. This also isnt the first time a foreign government hacked into U.S. systems either. So its not like this is the first time and no one saw this coming.[Edited on December 14, 2016 at 12:24 PM. Reason : no one]
12/14/2016 12:24:18 PM
we are hacked daily, its only newsworthy because they used the information to impact politics
12/14/2016 12:33:54 PM
So you are cool with foreign countries hacking into our computer systems. Just dont talk about it.
12/14/2016 12:38:59 PM
No mention of McConnell or Ryan refusing to sign on to a release of hacking information pre-election?[Edited on December 14, 2016 at 12:41 PM. Reason : They ran interference and cries foul. Party always comes before country for the GOP]

Other than Trump (Lord, help us all), who is pretending that it didn't happen? My criticism isn't that this didn't happen, its that it has happened on such a large scale previously, and we still weren't able to stop it. This was an attack on U.S. infrastructure, which PBO is accountable for.

How is it the president's job to secure a privately owned server?[Edited on December 14, 2016 at 1:07 PM. Reason : Excluding privately owned server's that may contain sensitive info.]

^Pretty sure that is a responsibility of the SoS, who reports to the president.I've seen republican's downplay the significance of the attack on the results of the election, which is understandable since its hard to quantify. But I havent seen anyone actually say it never happened (again, other than Trump).

I think it's pretty clear at this point that Obama's legacy will be mixed at best. Disastrous foreign policy misadventures, a very slow and uneven economic recovery that looks better on paper than in fact, midterm defeats for his party in congress, a war on whistle blowers, continuation of domestic spying and civil liberties abuses, expansion of drone warfare, and his one piece of key legislation is widely unpopular and likely to be repealed or gutted very soon after he leaves office.Honestly there isn't much to say on the overall positive side except for the cultural impact of being the first black president.

I am thinking of going in a couple years for my 40th. Unless Trump undoes all of the hard work Obama has done. Which I fully expect.

isn't that a pretty huge move? normally wouldn't we vote against that? that seems like a big deal to me.[Edited on December 23, 2016 at 5:30 PM. Reason : or are you saying being against settlements is bad? because no. ]

Usually, anytime the UN wants to beat up on Israel (which is very often), the US vetoes. The fact that we didn't is "troubling" but not unexpected, with as anti-semitic the Obama administration has been.[Edited on December 23, 2016 at 8:13 PM. Reason : space, comma, space]

not supporting israeli settlements is not being anti-semetic.

the US should abstain from the UN

Never understood why conservatives have always had a hard on for Israel. I mean, yea, a Bible in a sea of Qurans, but it seems like they spend so much effort on Israel.Let's focus on getting our own homeless resettled? K?

12/27/2016 9:43:26 AM
The hard on for Israel is entirely a theocractic notion that jews are the chosen people and this is one of the ways conservatives have secured political power to enact a Christian principle. It may have some other offshoots, but the core is purely religious.
12/28/2016 12:12:47 AM
It's not that republicans love Israel so much as liberals hate Israel because it is everything they despise: an independent, capitalist, conservative, patriotic nation
12/28/2016 1:37:59 AM
They're so independent the US sends them $4Billion a year to prop up their military! They're so capitalist and conservative they have (nearly) universal healthcare!

Democrats in the Bush years: Bush lied, people diedDemocrats in the Obama years: Why would the FBI or DHS lie!?It's hard to tell if they really are that naive, or if reality doesn't matter and it's all about cheap political points.

Pretty sure Bush setup his own intelligence unit to override the CIA, FBI, and state department findings so that they could pick and choose the evidence to support the Iraq warhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_of_Special_Plans[Edited on December 29, 2016 at 10:19 PM. Reason : pesky facts]
