honestly i could take or leave frasier. i feel like if we load up on RBs this year it will take carries away from samuels
9/30/2014 1:08:50 PM
You're right, but it's doubtful they all stay there too. Some will eventually change positions.
9/30/2014 1:18:19 PM
Apparently Scotty wants Darian Roseboro too:

Rumors are that Shad wants to go pro after this year. If he keeps running like he did against FSU, then he can definitely get drafted in a decent round. I also feel like the staff is starting to feed him the ball a little more because of this.I mean...we're going to have a stable of running backs, but most teams have a lot of RBs anyways. At least we normally use two or three and one of those three is split out as a WR (Dayes). Hines will be like Dayes and Gallaspy and Frasier can be our 1-2 punch. Throw Samuels and Nichols in there and you've got enough bodies in case someone gets injured/is unhappy/switches positions.I think our staff has always wanted 3 rbs in this class. They'll be satisfied with two...but they'll take three.

I'd hate to see Shad go early...but I think he's definitely got a pro future.

We just got a commitment from 2016 Safety Tim Glass out of Danville, VA:https://rivals.yahoo.com/ncstate/football/recruiting/player-Tim-Glass-152750;_ylt=AqFb7qMEK_X1toUsPMOUnaM9s5B4

Houshun Gaines is committing somewhere today supposedly. We'll see.....
10/3/2014 2:21:15 PM
Gaines picks Florida
10/3/2014 2:31:35 PM
Wow.....didn't see that coming. He seemed over the top with Va Tech. Oh well.......
10/3/2014 3:11:07 PM
^^Yeah but it looks like Florida didn't pick gaines
10/4/2014 8:01:05 AM
^ ?
10/4/2014 8:20:57 AM
According to the twittersphere - he didn't have a committable offer.https://twitter.com/andrewrivins
10/4/2014 8:28:59 AM
Oh wow.......that's harsh. I read someone's tweet saying he contacted someone at UF the night before he "committed" and they were aware of it. Seems very strange......maybe we can snag him.
10/4/2014 9:26:09 AM
I wonder if they told him that they wanted him so bad they named the city after him
10/5/2014 12:10:29 PM
I used to follow recruiting a ton, but very little in the last 2 or 3 years. I read the article on the link above, and it mentions that Florida came to his high school and gave him a "verbal offer" at the end of the last school year. I'm clearly missing the meaning of that. They "showed interest" or "let him know he was on their list" makes sense to me, but "verbal offer" has at least a reasonable implication that the kid can commit. Clearly he was catfished in the last 4-6 weeks, and I get that, but the reason that it worked was (at least partially) based on how Florida phrased their interest in the past. I've kept up the progression of the term "verbal" commitment and realized that it doesn't mean shit these days from the kids perspective, but clearly the same thing is true from the school's side.[Edited on October 5, 2014 at 1:05 PM. 10/6/2014 2:25:09 PM
Don't know if this looks anything like Florida's offer letter, but I came across this on r/cfb
10/6/2014 2:31:45 PM
Probably a situation where he was a back-up plan and he tried to commit before they were ready to accept his commitment.
10/6/2014 2:35:14 PM
Yeah I don't entirely understand this story. With all the recruiting insiders and sites like scout, rivals, 247, etc...wouldn't it become pretty obvious that this recruit either did or didn't have an offer from Florida? And it's not like this guy wasn't recruited by other schools. He had legitimate (well, I assume they were real) offers from State, Miami, VT, and others I think. It just seems like with all these websites and people paid to get the inside scoop on recruiting (through #sources at both the college level and high school level), it'd be clear that something was fishy about the UF offer. Or, surely UF was aware that this 3 star recruit - a somewhat well regarded recruit based on his offers - was listing them in his top 5 and claiming an offer. And the coaches would've been like "hey wait who offered this guy?" But maybe I'm just completely clueless about the recruiting process.[Edited on October 6, 2014 at 2:44 PM. Reason : ^that would seem like the most likely story...but still doesn't explain the fake coach thing]
10/6/2014 2:44:29 PM
Fuck Florida if they don't honor that. Hope he flips to us now obviously.
10/6/2014 2:46:23 PM
Supposedly we have several guys in front of him who we're waiting on.... supposedly.
10/6/2014 3:00:47 PM
Beggers can't be choosers.
10/6/2014 4:26:36 PM
10/6/2014 4:30:30 PM
I don't know that this guy is a "shitty prospect". UF had expressed legitimate interest in him. But he apparently didn't have a committable offer from UF.[Edited on October 6, 2014 at 4:34 PM. Reason : ^i don't think those two things are comparable really]
10/6/2014 4:34:12 PM
^^ Is that a fake letter? That is the first I heard of that. If so, then no I don't think UF should honor it. I was under the assumption that the letter was legit.
10/6/2014 4:49:53 PM
^^yeah, he's not just some "shitty prospect"
10/6/2014 4:58:14 PM
This happens all the time, kids have "offers" but the coaches will only accept their commitment when both parties are ready.NC State wouldn't except a commitment from the kid either, we have at least 2 DL ahead of him that we want more and won't give up the spots(limited numbers) until we get their answers. Sure it means we might miss on the kid, but seems like the coaches are OK with that.Florida won't take the kid, plus it probably won't matter when Muschamp is fired later anyway.
10/6/2014 7:16:05 PM
^^ He's not "shitty"...but he's a fallback recruit for us...so he's definitely not on the top of UF's list...if on their list at all.
10/6/2014 7:18:51 PM
Roseboro to State per the Twitters.
10/11/2014 2:36:56 PM
HELL YEAH!
10/11/2014 3:10:40 PM
He'd be smart to decommit
10/11/2014 8:17:16 PM
offensive tackle daris workman from greensboro comitted today toounranked according to espn, with no other offers (but interest from BYU lol)[Edited on October 11, 2014 at 9:23 PM. Reason : apparently JUCO guy...can't find much info on him]
10/11/2014 9:18:45 PM
JUCO OT, played basketball mainly in high school. Had an offer from VT and was considering taking an OV there but committed today.Think many are still holding out hope that Hines or Hughes commit before they leave this weekend.
10/11/2014 9:24:50 PM
also saw where roseboro went ahead and signed his financial aid papers and plans to enroll in january. good news being, this seems like a firm committment and he (in all likelihood) won't decommit.
10/11/2014 9:26:23 PM
What an idiot
10/11/2014 9:37:23 PM
^Why, our defense looks horrible, plenty of PT available.Roseboro, Jones, Street, strong DL we're building. Staaaaaaaaaars.Arguably the top 2 defensive players in NC the last 2 years is definitely a good accomplishment.
10/11/2014 9:52:32 PM
Glad to hear about Roseboro, at least one positive thing for State football today.
10/11/2014 11:35:51 PM
just put roseboro in bubble wrap until he gets here please
10/12/2014 12:11:12 AM
roseboro should be a sick player as an upperclassman for our next coach
10/12/2014 1:03:30 AM
Roseboro had all the best offers
10/13/2014 10:47:53 AM
Also glad to hear that Roseboro is already recruiting Hines and McGirt for us. After Roseboro, McGirt is definitely the biggest need for us, but Hines would really hurt to miss on as well.
10/13/2014 11:02:26 AM
we need all of the players.[Edited on October 13, 2014 at 11:07 AM. Reason : he should start recruiting bill cowher for us.]
10/13/2014 11:07:21 AM
I guess the two things we have going for us is the promise of playing time because we are terrible and the fact that despite being mediocre fo many many years we have put a lot of talent into the NFL. Other than that I have no idea why anyone would come here with offers from the likes of Clemson or Alabama or really any other power conference school unless they grew up wanting to play for us.
10/13/2014 11:10:41 AM
Probably just paying the players cash because the NCAA won't waste investigators on such a mediocre program
10/13/2014 11:24:57 AM
if you're a talented defensive end and your goal is to be rich and famous, it's a no brainer to come to State33% of all DE's selected #1 in the NFL draft over the past 30 years attended NC State
