Hahaha "high profile non-involved friends" like Gary Wichard, various players on all expense paid for trips, recruits, and John Blake.
7/20/2011 6:37:06 PM
right, all the damning numbers... We gotta black those out
7/20/2011 6:52:06 PM
Davis being able to black out his own records with no oversight seems borderline unbelievable, just seems like it's asking for cover-up
7/20/2011 7:10:19 PM
Why not leave them as is and just say "I didn't know I called that number".It's worked until now...
7/20/2011 8:09:57 PM
This is fucking bullshit there is no way in hell he should be able to redact these numbers. It has been established that he used this number to conduct business therefore making it a MATTER OF PUBLIC FUCKING RECORD. Why the fuck is NO ONE IN THE MEDIA CRYING FOUL???
7/20/2011 8:21:22 PM
yeah if you redact a number there is no way to know if there is any chance it was used for public business or not.
7/20/2011 8:28:26 PM
It's only the phone calls he made in relation to his business with the school that are public record. He's well within his righs to black out any personal calls he made on that phone.
7/20/2011 8:31:39 PM
were going to find out he had an affair too
7/20/2011 8:35:04 PM
lol no he isnt.
7/20/2011 8:35:14 PM
I think its going to be hard to make a case that ALL his calls (regardless of if they're related to state business or not) become public record. I've been reading the statutes and can't find anything that would specifically support that.Letting Butch decide all by himself whether each call falls under public record or not is just retarded though. Its going to be hilarious if he releases this and claims the only phone calls he made as part of his job were to Thorpe and Baddour.
7/20/2011 8:37:58 PM
^^^Butch will be like "I needed to call Jennifer about some tutoring issues with my son at 3 in the morning."

you'd think that butch / blake / etc would use burners for anything remotely shady.

^I would assume so. But who knows...

Why don't they just have a third party verify who each number belonged to, then replace the number with a name? It'd be less work for the press, and no one's phone number would be jeopardized. He can hide all those "high profile" phone numbers and still release everything(I know he would never want to)

I don't understand. Can't they just go to verizon (or whoever) and get the records? Why do they have to go through Butch? It's not as if there was only one handwritten copy between verizon (or whoever) and butch. They're electronic files.[Edited on July 21, 2011 at 4:21 PM. Reason : ]
7/21/2011 4:21:22 PM
So UNC has had all the records for over a year.UNC is still refusing to hand them over, but Butch is going to do it himself? Why wouldn't he simply give the university permission and let them be handled like all other records requests?Butch gets to decides which records are pertinent? Seriously?
7/21/2011 6:10:13 PM
^^ that makes Verizon or whoever part of the legal process involved in all this. Since they wouldn't want that, I'm sure they wouldn't cooperate
7/21/2011 6:20:51 PM
What I liked is how this woman reporter asks him about Blake and he does that huffy-puffy thing we've all come to know and love in this investigation (and after heart-breaking losses to NCSU) and he goes "Excuse me", haha.then his answer is that the NCAA told them that they can't discuss it, BUT he tells her that if she'll call up Dick Baddour then he would be able to talk to her about it, hahaI too thought it interesting that he says they "recently got the request" for the phone records but that lawyers had been going over them since last fall. yea, nothing to see here, move along
7/21/2011 6:33:32 PM
Wonder if the same people that cleared macadoos papers will be going over butchys phone records. lol
7/21/2011 6:37:23 PM
if they were smart they'd get some of these UNC fan jerks over on the N&O forums who constantly call out anyone for spelling and grammar mistakes.
7/21/2011 6:41:25 PM
is it too much to ask for that they redact all the agents' phone numbers, etc, or so they think, then they release the phone records, a few guys on PackPride whitepages.com reverse lookup some phone numbers that are registered to sports agents, etc, then bleacherreport runs a story exposing the corruption?v i think its the media requesting them, not the NCAA, but it might be both[Edited on July 21, 2011 at 6:45 PM. I'll show my ingorance of this case, and of these type of proceedings in general and ask the stupid questions: why can't (or is) the NCAA demand UNC/Butch provide (unedited) print-outs of the phone bills? If it was a criminal case, would the police/feds/whatever be able to demand that? Why does Butch/UNC get to hold onto them for this long, and finally "decide" to hand them over now.... after they remove some #s? Is the hold-up because it's a personal phone (that was used to make some "business" calls?)?^Well, if it's the media, then that makes sense. But if so, why wouldn't that be part of the NCAA's investigation? Do they not have that authority? [Edited on July 21, 2011 at 6:58 PM. Reason : ]
7/21/2011 6:44:07 PM
The NCAA doesn't have the authority to demand they can request and if denied they assume it was bad and punish you accordingly. The real question is WHERE THE FUCK are butch's emails. Isn't UNC in violation of Manning's order for not supplying them?
7/21/2011 7:20:33 PM

Meh, nothing new there I was thinking earlier this week how ridiculous it is that that USC player who made a bad joke on TMZ warranted national backlash. The story was on mike and mike, ath, pti. I would think Austin's tweets would be a good story for esn to exploit during the slow summer. Or maybe they can cover UNCs NINE major violations
7/22/2011 9:18:35 AM
I found it interesting he's able to quickly explain the source for all the cars but no idea why there were so many different plates.
7/22/2011 9:22:46 AM
haha must've been the underwear license plate gnomes
7/22/2011 9:47:34 AM
Time for some PackPride enthusiasts to back up his claims that the cars belonged to all of those family members

this might be old but I sure hadn't seen it before. Pretty scathing critique from Browns players on Davis. We need every recruit to see this. Also really makes the "i don't know anything" argument entirely untenable.http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/writers/don_banks/11/30/browns.breakdown/index.html[Edited on July 22, 2011 at 12:32 PM.
