Airplay SDK is available on Android and I know you can go Android to ATV. I don't know enough about gtv to know whether you can run one of the airplay apps (Doubletwist supports it iirc) on it and then stream between them that way?
7/18/2012 11:30:09 PM
^ do you have more info on the Android/Airplay SDK?Also, Android is largely a rip off of iOS, and Samsung most likely did copy the iPad design...

most recent update of google maps adds "go offline" capability.1. download map data via wifi2. use no data while driving, maps load fast3. ???4. profit
7/19/2012 4:07:05 PM
nice. It's annoying that GPS won't automatically turn on when I enter the nav app... why must I get a pop-up saying GPS is disabled, then have to go enable it, then return to nav. I've already agreed to the warning, just turn the damn GPS on.
7/19/2012 4:12:55 PM
It's good as long as you don't have a long drive or just want a specific area. If you're going 100mi or so then it's good but anything more requires multiple saves. ]
7/19/2012 4:19:19 PM
sometimes i'm surprised google hasn't managed to put some useful features in google maps/nav (ie. "find xxxxx on my route")...while waze doesn't do this, either, i just like the app more than google navgoogle's gonna have to step up their game if i'm going to go back to their barebones navigation
7/19/2012 4:24:51 PM
someone point me at an ICS->JB rooting guide plz, i've decided I don't want to wait on Verizon this go-around
7/19/2012 4:59:49 PM
hey verizon, fuck you and your locked bootloader...CM9 for the Verizon GSIII with CM10 already in the works.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783262
7/19/2012 9:33:53 PM
Anyone know if the Verizon Galaxy SIII can use a Canadian prepaid SIM? I know it's not unlocked for Int'l yet but not sure whether Canada's system is the same. My Dad and I are heading up there in August and I don't want to get stuck roaming.
7/22/2012 2:06:57 PM
Verizon offers CDMA roaming depending on what part of Canada you're in. Some have said they have been able to put AT&T and Tmobile sims in it to get voice and text to work but seems to be glitchy. And gotta love that locked bootloader
7/23/2012 11:16:37 AM
^running same on SCH-I515
7/23/2012 11:51:23 AM
nexus s 4g, 4.0.4 apex romaround once per day the phone will randomly lose ALL data. even calls and texts will not go through. the bars go gray and it won't reconnect until I reboot.and then I went to myrtle beach over the weekend and it was a crapshoot trying to dial out. 75% of the time it wouldn't even ring, just sit there "Dialing..." until I got fed up. all incoming calls went straight to VM, and texts kept failing to send.i'm about to say fuck it, pay the etf and head to big red
7/23/2012 11:37:29 PM
It's the Apex rom ... I've not had any problems like that with the Gummy rom I loaded up a while ago. And actually, I've been eyeing that SlimICS rom recently, but I can't get myself to wipe yet.
7/24/2012 12:40:30 AM
i tried gummy before apex, had even more problems with that. I just flashed SlimICS, looks good so far. we shall see...I'll still switch to vzw eventually, because to me, reliable voice/data service is worth $10 more per month

My Droid Razr just updated to Android 4.0 and while I like IceCreamSandwich and all, some wonky things have been happening for me on my phone since the update. Forewarning: this is the first update I've had on this phone, my first Android product, so I might just not realize some things. When it updated it removed some of my apps that I assume aren't compatible with 4.0, like a task manager I had (which I can't find in Google Play Store anymore), et cetera. I assume that's normal.I think I'm having flash troubles or something. YouTube when viewed through desktop-view on a browser won't play videos and freezes, same for other flash services both on desktop-view and on the mobile sites. I used to be able to put my browser on desktop-view and watch Amazon Prime Video, but I can't anymore--which I kind of hate because I don't have internet service at the moment, and love my Prime videos. Youtube will often lose sound, or just stop working entirely.
7/24/2012 3:10:41 PM
^ why do people still use task managers? Android has gotten to be a pretty robust OS and having to kill apps is unnecessary.
7/24/2012 3:16:32 PM
long press the home button and it should show you all the apps currently running. slide them to the left or right to turn them offdid the update replace the browser with Chrome? chrome doesn't support flash
7/24/2012 3:17:53 PM
^^^ You might need to wipe.[Edited on July 24, 2012 at 3:18 PM. Reason : .]

What's the best app to sync FB pictures to an Android 4.x device?
7/24/2012 8:24:58 PM
Thanks for the advice about the long press home tool, definitely don't need a task manager now.As far as browser and flash, my browser doesn't say Chrome? The default browser. I doubt that's it though, Dolphin is having trouble too.
7/24/2012 9:53:14 PM
I don't think chrome is stock yet in ICS. At least my S3 still had stock "Android Browser"

^ Thx. That's the one I had, but it was returning an authentication error. Just had to logout and log back into FB.
7/25/2012 10:05:11 AM
^This one supports hi-res contact pictures, I like it better:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ro.weednet.contactssync
7/25/2012 11:03:09 AM
7/25/2012 11:46:25 AM
^^ Is that the only reason you like it better? When does the hi-res thing come into play? I just want thumbnail sized pictures next to their names to be updated.
7/25/2012 11:49:36 AM
^^Ack, that's not cool. I really don't understand why the MMS thing seems to be so difficult for custom roms.^Well, yes, because wait until you get a phone call and a big blurry picture takes over your screen. That's why I like the 720x720 resolution contact pictures.
7/25/2012 12:42:53 PM
7/25/2012 12:50:14 PM
^^ yeah it seems to be a finicky thing to integrate mms functionality into a 3rd party ROM.i just got a phone call and immediately (while the phone is still ringing) the ANR dialog pops up with "activity phone is not responding, [wait] or [close]"ಠ_ಠ
7/25/2012 1:03:34 PM
7/25/2012 2:02:34 PM
^ yeah, that seems to be the only complaint...you don't know that it's running or when it's done
7/25/2012 2:27:18 PM
My brother accidentally called 911 from my Maxx today and hung up. Got the call back and told them it was a mistake. The phone turns off data for 5 mins after an emergency call... Is that to make sure nothing blocks communications?
7/26/2012 12:41:11 PM
Any rumors on when Verizon will be so kind as to pass along the Jellybean update to the Samsung GNex?
7/26/2012 12:59:50 PM
7/26/2012 3:42:29 PM
So is there a way to figure out WHAT app is keeping my screen from dimming? I'm on a GS3 and one of the apps I've installed lately is keeping my screen on. I thought it was widgetlocker (trying to get gmail notifications on lockscreen) since it started after I installed it but it still happens after deleting it. I'd really prefer not to go through deleting apps until I find it (especially since it isn't constant).
7/26/2012 7:19:56 PM
instead of deleting apps, you can go to Settings, Applications, Running Services and try stopping services until you find it
7/26/2012 7:22:15 PM
My gps/nav. has taken a hit since the ICS update was pushed to my razr. It's often a couple of streets off on my location, it has told me to take a right when I should clearly be taking a left, etc.It worked perfectly before the update. Has anyone else here experienced this issue since updating?
7/26/2012 7:53:06 PM
^^^ better battery stats will break down screen usage by app and tell you what is holding the screen on. $2.89 but I think it's worth ithttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats&hl=en
7/27/2012 8:08:00 AM
^^nope; just takes longer for mine to capture a GPS signal and it seems to drop GPS signals now.
7/27/2012 8:33:12 AM
ok i took this thing all the way back to stock, locked bootloader and everything. if it still acts up then i have some leverage with the retentions dept
7/27/2012 12:56:52 PM
So what's the best streaming media server app?
7/27/2012 9:07:59 PM
man, my droid razr just got some huge update, and the performance now completely sucks.[Edited on July 27, 2012 at 9:30 PM. Reason : .]
7/27/2012 9:29:00 PM
^Elaborate? Is it just the IceCreamSandwich update or is there a new one out? I haven't had any updates.
7/28/2012 7:48:29 PM
So my first android question after a couple days of use. Is there no standby? If I don't use my Nexus 7 for a night I'll wake it up the next morning and half the battery will be gone. Is it best practice to just turn it off if you're not using it? I'm used to iOS devices that last a week or more without any battery discharge if the screen isn't on. Or am I doing something wrong?
7/29/2012 7:25:39 AM
Something is wrong or running in the background. I can leave my asus transformer asleep for a number of days and not be dead, but it will slowly drain the battery over the course of a week. But I do tend to shut it down if I don't plan to use it in the next 24hrs.
7/29/2012 7:56:27 AM
generally as long as it isn't trying to actively sync all the time your drain should be =<1% a hour when not in use. play with your sync settings or just turn it off when not in use.
7/29/2012 7:56:53 AM
Thanks! Other than that I'm loving 4.1. Might have to sell my iPad.
