There were a couple of transition plays late in the game that really hurt us. Twice we had numbers on them where the pass was intercepted/deflected by our player who the pass was not intended for. If they weren't there or let the ball go, it ends in two easy dunks/layups. Hard to really blame them because they were hustling and I'm sure they thought the pass was for them. Just unlucky.

We get those couple of baskets down the stretch and it could have been a different ball game by score and momentum.

Yeah. We’re not that good. But sometimes it really is as simple as just making some shots. I know it’s completely unreasonable to expect to Hellems and Terq to play like they did vs UVa every game. But our two best shooters combining for 3/11 from 3 and 6/24 overall is bad and pretty hard to overcome.

We’ve been smashed many times in Chapel Hill. This one feels worse than some of the others because I’m not sure they’re actually any good. They have a few good individual players but collectively this team doesn’t seem nearly as talented as some of their past teams. They just can’t fucking miss.

I know it doesn't change anything, but it doesn't seem to matter how we play we never get foul calls. Like there are games where we double up points in the paint on the opposing team and they still will dwarf our FT attempts.

Smith definitely avoids contact when he drives…he puts up a lot of floaters. But Seabron never shies from contact. Morsell usually goes up strong too. Hellems is definitely a below the rim player too. But we really just can’t get to the line at all.

I feat Hellems and Terq are gonna sit back after the game and think to themselves that it wasn't on them, they were playing/scoring. Those were Russel Westbrook types of stat line--looks good on paper but it wasn't winning basketball. That was the most selfish, ugly looking, ISO nastiness I have seen from at Keatts team.

9 assists and 10 turnovers for the team isn't ever going to get it done.

Hayes puts up another 0-fer but somehow doubles Pass's minutes again.

I didn't expect much today, but they still managed to disappoint me.

^Bacot happened to him. He couldn't get to the rim. Then Keatts sat him for most of the second half after we were down 30.

I think it was more than just Bacot for Seabron. Hellems and Smith played all through garbage time. Idk if he got hurt or is sick or something.

I posted it in the KK thread, so this is repetitive. I get criticizing the offense. But Hellems and Smith were making shots (a lot of Smith’s was in garbage time, I’ll give you that). To me the defense is the thing to be upset about. Manek had several wide open looks. Love hit some tough shots for sure, but he had a few wide open looks to. We have no answer for Bacot (not that i expected we would).

The offense struggled early, especially about midway thru the first half. UNC was up 19-9 or something like that, and UNC went on a scoring drought. But we couldn’t cut into the lead. That hurt. But giving up easy layups and open 3s for 40 minutes was just awful.

Hellems was 9/17 and 5/9 on 3. At halftime he was 5/11 and 4/7 on 3…he was the only reason we weren’t down by more at halftime. I know Smith and Hellems padded their stats in garbage time but I don’t know how you can criticize the only 2 dudes on the team that could make a shot today. We scored 21 points if you take out Smith and Hellems. We made 7 total shots from guys not named Smith or Hellems. Not every shot they took was a great shot. But they aren’t the ones to criticize imo

I'm saying it would be a mistake for either of them to sit back and think this game wasn't their fault because they got theirs. It sounded a bit like that in Terq's post game is why I mentioned it.

At least Smith gives us something fun to watch. Seabron is fading because all he can do is drive. He has no outside shot or mid range shot. So games like this are going to be hard on him going against shot blockers.
