UVA is not as strong as I imagine before. We can seriously defeat them at their home.
2/25/2021 8:54:45 AM
That's the first time UVA has lost at home in something like 400 days.
2/25/2021 10:29:11 AM
Since the championship yr probably.
2/25/2021 10:38:12 AM
I mean Duke is on the bubble and we have very similar records with us arguably having better wins (UNC>Syracuse). They lost to Miami as well. They beat us pretty handily which obviously hurts. But if they are on the bubble we shouldn't be that far out. Oh yeah, I forgot our uniforms aren't blue.[Edited on February 25, 2021 at 11:36 AM. Reason : well, I missed that they beat Clemson. Still similar]
2/25/2021 11:29:39 AM
ehh, duke definitely has the better resumeDuke is 2-3 in Q1 and 4-4 in Q2...they lost to Miami on the road so it's Q3We are 1-6 Q1 and 2-2 Q2...and we lost to Miami at home so it's Q4. Duke is 30 kenpom and we're 67. Duke is 49 in NET and we're 79. i'm still not 100% sure how much our NET matters....seems like with quadrants, the more important thing is the NET of your opponents.[Edited on February 25, 2021 at 11:54 AM. Reason : the miami L is killing us, really.]
2/25/2021 11:53:18 AM
If there was a 2021 tww st word cloud, Miami loss would be massive.
2/25/2021 12:11:30 PM
^^ So they have 1 more Q1 win and their loss to Miami was away instead of home. I guess that's what I mean by similar. We're both 50% in Q2
2/25/2021 1:41:54 PM
I get that I’m arguing semantics, but they have 6 Q1+2 wins and we have 3....and those combined records are 6-7 vs 3-8 respectively. We have a Q4 loss and they don’t. Obviously some of that is just how schedules shake out and there’s still plenty of time for teams to move up or down quadrants. But they definitely have a better resume than us. The two resumes aren’t totally dissimilar and we do have a path to the tourney after last night. But duke’s resume is better. And like you said, I’m sure it doesn’t hurt that they’re Duke.
2/25/2021 2:03:21 PM
Agreed. Really hate we dropped that game against Clemson. We were winning most of that game. Pretty sure that's the one where we accidentally knocked the ball in our own net trying to grab the rebound. We had a 6 point lead at the time and it went to OT.

2/25/2021 2:51:28 PM
Trying to go back and find that own goal. Maybe it wasn't that game. When searching I was reminded of this ridiculous no call when Daniels gets demolished under the basket:https://youtu.be/khv4jMCvYoE?t=3726
2/25/2021 3:34:24 PM
Pretty sure it was the Clemson game
2/25/2021 5:36:08 PM
Certain. You can watch if here: https://youtu.be/TuNmhF_V3Zo?t=1725[Edited on February 25, 2021 at 9:29 PM. Reason : shoot, I'd forgotten about that no call]
2/25/2021 9:27:54 PM
^ Ah, thanks, I had it in my head it was kind of late in the game that's why I couldn't find it.
2/26/2021 10:50:23 AM
Wonder what happened to this team they are actually playing well
2/26/2021 12:57:41 PM
he still has a ways to go but Dowuona seems to be getting more comfortable
2/28/2021 4:50:45 PM
I don't want to jinx or shit talk but I think Pitt had two of their best 3-4 players go transfer portal like 2 days ago.
2/28/2021 4:59:40 PM
I haven't been watching, but LOL that Braxton is 0/3 from the field but has 7 points
2/28/2021 5:07:02 PM
Braxton!
2/28/2021 5:23:54 PM
Hahahahha Champagnie T’d up again. Can’t slap the backboard. Which is incredibly stupid but I’ve seen State T’d up enough for that over the years that I’m glad to finally see somebody else get. T for it So does two techs not mean an ejection?
2/28/2021 5:26:26 PM
I guess they both have to be "unsportsmanlike"
2/28/2021 5:29:46 PM
Hmm, I never knew that. But also would’ve assumed slapping the backboard and getting t’d up for shit talking would both qualify for unsportsmanlike.
2/28/2021 5:32:30 PM
we need to go ahead and put them away
2/28/2021 6:12:09 PM
Lol this final minute is so stupid
2/28/2021 6:12:37 PM
12 in a row vs Pitt, 19 out of 21. Lol.
2/28/2021 6:17:53 PM
Was a weird game, it seems like we were in control but we let them hang close to the end. Would have liked to hit some more free throws at the end but glad we squeaked it out. Now on to Notre Dame.
2/28/2021 10:14:37 PM
I would have liked to see champagnie get a triple double with 10 technicals
2/28/2021 10:39:28 PM
3/1/2021 7:12:16 AM
So Champagnie slapped the backboard on the 2nd T? I was watching and didn't notice that. The commentators were focusing on him possibly hanging on the rim so maybe I was looking for that instead. I thought is was a very weak T but if he slapped the backboard that makes sense.Edit, I went back to watch that play yeah he absolutely smacked the backboard. You can easily see/hear it live. Well deserved T. The replays didn't show it as well. [Edited on March 1, 2021 at 9:50 AM. Reason : .]
3/1/2021 9:22:32 AM
I thought it was obvious in real-time that the T was for slapping the backboard, you could hear it and see it, but the announcers seemed totally confused and never mentioned the slap, even after watching the replay several times. They were saying "did he hang? I think someone was under him...."
3/1/2021 10:26:46 AM
^ Yeah, I was walking by the TV and heard the T called and then started watching the replays and listening to the announcers. There is one replay that definitely shows the slap but because the announcers were talking about hanging on the rim I was looking below him.
3/1/2021 10:36:59 AM
Well i mean the announcers spent half the game blaming Kevin Stallings for transfers of guys Jeff Capel recruited to Pitt.
3/1/2021 3:09:38 PM
man a win streak feels so good, especially when it involves beating pitt. I hope we keep this momentum!
3/1/2021 10:07:31 PM
Someone make a wikipedia page about the nc state - pitt basketball rivalry.I got the idea from this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maryland%E2%80%93Penn_State_football_rivalry
3/1/2021 10:26:40 PM
Thomas Allen out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury. Hate it for him.
3/2/2021 10:56:30 AM
Louisville/VT game cancelled.....we may not even have a game Saturday.Boo needs to work the phones and get someone
3/2/2021 10:57:50 PM
Our schedule definitely hurt us this year (and losing games, duh). Not playing GT or UL in conference due to cancellations hurts our NET and chances for Q1/2 wins. Michigan and UConn games were cancelled. I think both of those would be Q- opportunities. I’m obviously not saying we’d go 4-0 in those games. Or even 1-3. But that’s probably better for our resume than beating BC twice. So if we have the opportunity to reschedule the VT game, it’d be nice to get a Q1/2 game. But I’m doubtful of that happening. [Edited on March 3, 2021 at 9:41 AM. Reason : A]
3/3/2021 9:40:34 AM
Yeah, it's easy to want those games on the schedule now that we have an outside shot at the tourney, but if we have those games anytime between Clemson and Pitt #1 and we likely lose both of those games. I suppose they still help our net, but put two more losses on the board and we are still on the outside looking in.
3/3/2021 10:40:59 AM
Yeah I’m not confident we win those games at all. But the opportunity would be nice. Regardless, using the “eye test” (which I know is dumb)...this team really hasn’t looked worthy of the NCAAT for most of this season.
3/3/2021 11:30:51 AM
Playing less games was the way to go. Leaves something to the imagination.
3/3/2021 4:35:45 PM
https://accsports.com/acc-analytics/nc-state-changes-things-up-to-find-balance-with-jericole-hellems-cam-hayes-and-shakeel-moore/Interesting breakdown of Keatts' offense. My contention has never been that we don't have an offense, but rather that too often --especially in important moments--our players don't run it. The initial action breaks down and our guards freestyle and end up jacking up a terrible shot.
3/3/2021 4:50:06 PM
I don't think we have any outside shot at the tourney unless we get to at least acc tourney finals (and win tonight of course)
3/3/2021 5:35:07 PM
And of course I didn't mention the VT game bc it is indeed canceled
3/3/2021 6:25:15 PM
Beverly quietly having his best 3PT% shooting season of his career. 40.9% coming into today.
3/3/2021 8:28:51 PM
not bad for the worst player in ACC history
3/3/2021 8:39:43 PM
Hyperbole alert
3/3/2021 8:43:39 PM
Can't believe you are just erasing trevor ferguson from history
3/3/2021 9:55:51 PM
So do we want UNC to win and get the bye or do we want to avoid FSU again?and lol at the lack of posts here after winning 5 straight ACC games for the first time since 2004[Edited on March 3, 2021 at 10:02 PM. Reason : .]
3/3/2021 9:59:40 PM
As far as this season goes I'm a nihilist. But I appreciate you being a better fan than me.
3/3/2021 10:07:09 PM
Was nice to watch a game tonight and not have to worry too much at the end. I never though Seabron would be playing like this based on the first half of the season. Defense was pretty solid tonight other than giving up a few open 3s. First time we won 5 staight ACC games since the Julius Hodge days I think.
