You're quoting figures from 2014 and 2015 lololol get outta hereDon't forget the huge amount the school is set to get from the ACC for their network. The money is there...if Marshall wants 5 million, pay the man 5 million.Who cares the price, it's the product.[Edited on March 11, 2017 at 6:42 PM. The acc network money, that all acc teams will get, will vault us past the other acc teams that are ahead of us in revenue. And will easily make up the tens of millions difference bw us and non-acc teams. Also my 2014/2015 sources are way better than the nonsense you pull out of your ass. Post some proof of 2nd in the nation in "donor amount"
3/11/2017 6:56:00 PM
That statement shows you don't go to meetings, donate or attend any of the coaches caravans.Don't come at me with that weak sauce.
3/11/2017 7:05:30 PM
I MADE 3 STATEMENTS attempt to show even the tiniest evidence for your claims. You didn't even say mine was wrong, just that we'll have money in the future!
3/11/2017 7:08:35 PM
So If we're hoping the acc tv contract in 2019 is gonna give us enough money to pay a coach $5m today, then I'm guessing that means we kinda can't afford $5m. Sounds like, from PP and rivals, we could go as high as $3.5m. Which is still way higher than the last two searches. Doesn't mean we will go that high, of course.
3/11/2017 7:27:27 PM
James Henderson was saying it's more like $4m iirc but yeah I see State trying to save the money if they can get a guy for less that the fan base won't lose their shit over. Keatts/Wade fit the bill. However, I'm in the "pay them what they want to come here" camp. It's essential that we lock somebody up now when four HOC coaches are about to retire in the ACC in the next few years plus the network contract. It sounds crazy to say out loud but what we do now could define our program and start a dynasty.

what I hope happens and what I expect to happen are two different things. I expect State to blow the opportunities in front of us but I hope they don't.
3/11/2017 11:01:51 PM
Not sure how long ago it was, but we absolutely were the third largest donor group in the nation behind Clemson and aTm. That doesn't necessarily translate to money.

I don't think Archie wants to come here but people say with Marshall it is as simple as handing over a blank check. But then again, he could and probably will just run back to the Kochs and barter for more over there just like he did with Alabama, etc. I can't really blame him - he's got it made, even if it is in shitty Wichita. I've said it a bunch of times but I'm thinking it's going to be Wade and if not him then somebody out of left field.
3/12/2017 1:04:27 PM
It's gonna be Jay Bilas
3/12/2017 1:32:02 PM
I'm totally cool with Wade. I'd be completely fine with that
3/12/2017 1:48:07 PM
Read a couple of really good articles on PP today. One was James Henderson answering reader questions and the other was an interview with John Goodman.I think most people think Wade is the front runner and Keatts the backup. Goodman was saying just get over Archie because it's not happening and he was also really singing Pat Kelsey's praises. I'm not sure there's enough of a track record for me to be on board with him. They also mentioned that Gregg Marshall is not in contention.Holtmann was also mentioned and I think he would be awesome but several have mentioned he might be too laid back to succeed here. Scott Drew is another name that is apparently in serious contention but it may come down to how much State is willing to mess with the baggage that would come with him. The more I see of Wade the more I like and I really think we'd do well to get him here. Dude is smart af and a grinder with a fiery personality. They're playing Rhode Island right now in the A10 tourney.[Edited on March 12, 2017 at 2:21 PM. Reason : .]

3/12/2017 2:25:19 PM
It's gonna be Dan Dakich
3/12/2017 2:25:26 PM
I'm not a Goodman fan either but it was a pretty fair take.
3/12/2017 2:26:37 PM
What do you mean? John Goodman is great[Edited on March 12, 2017 at 2:42 PM. Reason : Didn't know he was knowledgeable about State and/or Archie tho]
3/12/2017 2:42:00 PM
Jeff* goodman But yeah I read that too. Seemed fair

3/12/2017 3:09:45 PM
Moton added another tournament championship to his resume yesterday.
3/12/2017 3:48:13 PM
Can we hire John Goodman?
3/12/2017 3:56:07 PM
Morton, Keatts and Marshall wonMiller, Wade and Holtmann lost[Edited on March 12, 2017 at 3:57 PM. Reason : A]
3/12/2017 3:57:11 PM
I'm all in for Morton.
3/12/2017 4:29:29 PM
as long as he brings the salt
3/12/2017 5:06:33 PM
Spelling is hard
3/12/2017 5:07:52 PM
Why would we want Moton over any of the other names mentioned? I feel like if he wasn't a local guy nobody would mention him
3/12/2017 5:16:22 PM
No one wants him, he's not even a fringe candidate. If his agent even gets a courtesy phone call it will mean he's balls deep in Yow.
3/12/2017 5:19:07 PM
3/12/2017 5:35:55 PM
no, stop being an idiot
3/12/2017 5:43:44 PM
so Keatts is a candidate to schools outside the region? and we'd be deluding ourselves about Archie if he wasn't an alum? you sure know your sports
3/12/2017 5:54:20 PM
Wichita State vs. Dayton in the first round.
3/12/2017 5:57:29 PM
Yeah we'd definitely still be interested in Archie no matter what. He'd be even less realistic, of course. But most schools with openings are throwing his name around from what I've seen. Saw where mizzou was interested in Keatts. So I dont think it's a stretch to say that him being local is the only reason he's high on some folks' list.[Edited on March 12, 2017 at 6:08 PM. 3/12/2017 6:05:40 PM
Hearing a lot of Keatts to Illinois
3/12/2017 6:13:59 PM
Yeah Archie would be high on our list regardless. I'll budge on Keatts but what he's done at W is impressive and his Pitino pedigree and multiple conference regular and tourney titles don't hurt. I think they could upset UVA
3/12/2017 6:14:40 PM
If Archie makes it to the sweet 16 with his draw, we should pay him 4 mill.
3/12/2017 6:35:17 PM
Go Shockers!
3/12/2017 7:26:53 PM
Calipari was on our list last time. The only reason people think we have a shot with Archie is because he went here.
3/12/2017 8:16:17 PM
And Calimari was a signature on a plane away from being the NC State coach...your point is???
3/12/2017 8:56:11 PM
You people really don't want Keatts huh? He HAS to be a top 3 choice. But DY will want to go big... I just wish this played out when she left so we could get a new AD Keatts under our awesome chancellor. He has GOT to be the best we have had in a LONG LONG TIME. also random to insert but we are freaking #12 in the directors cup BEFORE Swimming and Diving and Track and Field? WOW..... http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/nacda/sports/directorscup/auto_pdf/2016-17/misc_non_event/Jan12DivIOverall.pdfhttp://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/nacda/sports/directorscup/auto_pdf/2016-17/misc_non_event/Jan12DivIConference.pdf

Did anyone also mention his wife is from NC and is a State alumna as well? That has to help at least a little, assuming her family is still in the state.Fun fact, I spent about 30 minutes in her dorm room in the fall of '98.
3/12/2017 10:06:17 PM
Keatts is pretty high on my list after Archie. I'm fine with exploring the Drew's and such of the world, but I'd rather go with him than some of the other mid major options
3/12/2017 10:09:18 PM
3/12/2017 10:15:12 PM
Archie/Drew (reach)Wade/Holtmann (solid hires)Keatts (more iffy but high potential. Should be our floor)----we fucked up the search----Kelsey (very little record to go on but great reputation)Moton (more to go off of but a long shot imo)There may be others but of the common names floating around this is how I see the list. I'd be happy with Keats for the record and PP says we've had serious talks with him already. [Edited on March 12, 2017 at 10:18 PM. Reason : Still think we get Wade unless they go deep]
3/12/2017 10:16:32 PM
^^i mean obviously that's the expectation of what we'd do. Im not trying to act like I'm smarter than the folks conducting the search. I was just kinda spelling it out in response to the "we wouldn't have a shot with Archie if he didn't go to state" argument. Like I said, that argument may actually be true. But archie did go to state, so that hypothetical argument is silly and doesn't make Archie some insanely unrealistic option[Edited on March 12, 2017 at 10:19 PM. Reason : A]

interesting, SC plays Marquette...a glimpse into 2020?
3/12/2017 10:19:00 PM
I know this is from last year and not about our coaching search, but was shocked to see Archie mentioned as a potential eventual Roy Williams replacement. Would Archie do that? Maybe, it is undoubtedly an elite college bball gig. But would UNC actually hire a former State player? I don't know that their fan base would go for it.http://www.si.com/college-basketball/2016/04/01/assessing-possible-candidates-replace-roy-williams-north-carolina
3/12/2017 11:27:48 PM
If Drew is in the conversation, I may have to go cold turkey on State Just bc UNC is happy with dirty coaches doesn't mean we should be
