Xbox 1 is more of a whole home entertainment system, PS4 is more of a pure gaming machine. Really depends on which you find more useful to your particular situation.

I can say that for games like TitanFall/CoD there's always been a stronger TWW presence on XBox, and by and large I love playing with you people. If having built-in folks to play with is your goal, I'd say XBox.

Interesting. What was frustrating about the PS3? Sony do a lot of aggravating shit?

I am buying a house and am going to create a dedicated home theater room with a projector. Seems like XBone has some nice features for that kinda setup, but not necessarily anything i can't replicate with a few inputs for cable box, pc, bluray, etc...

And there's a chance depending on the placement of everything that the front projection setup wouldn't play nice with the Kinect anyway. Guess atm I'm a slight lean toward PS4, but I think it's a solid suggestion to wait and see how it plays out over the next 6 months. Thanks.

Played Titanfall a while back with mildew and Exiled. Lot of fun, thanks guys! Hoping to catch some people online to play BF4 until Titanfall release. Send me invites if you see me online.

Also, wanting to sell/trade Ghosts and possibly Forza. Might also sell BF4 if I don't start playing with a group. It's pretty boring with randoms. I'd be interested in FIFA, NBA, Thief, AC4, Tomb Raider, NFS, maybe others. Maybe even just a temp trade to try 'em out.

I had both the PS3 and Xbox 360 (also had ps2 and xbox). This is the first generation I haven't had both and don't intend to. I was frustrated with the PS3 by a lot of little things...
* PSN was annoying to use and seemed secondary (shopping, online gaming, community, etc). Xbox Live was 1,000x better
* Backwards capability revoked. Granted the 360 had some shortcomings here also, but not playing a single PS2 game seemed a purposeful decision by Sony. It was initially available on early models, then essentially deactivated to provoke the purchase of new games (PS2 had some of the greatest games ever IMO)
* Controller dead for the PS3? Plug it in to a 3 foot USB cord and wait. Xbox360 had swappable, rechargeable battery packs that took seconds to swap out and continue gaming
* Updates on the PS3, it was something that put me off very early on... There seemed a great more amount of update needed for each app/game on PS3 than on Xbox360. Each update would have to be downloaded... then each would have to be installed. I could not understand the breaking up of these steps and a UI prompt at each. This was eventually removed. Then while the 360 could do updates while the system was off, the PS3 required you to pay for this feature. Seemed silly.

My PS3 was relegated to being a Blu ray player and nothing more. I was annoyed I had purchased it.

Now for the new generation, I decided to skip Sony's contender as I felt let down by their previous offering. Meanwhile, the 360 (even without Blu ray) was the much better gaming machine for me, in that it let me play with an undefeatable group of hooligans known as The White Warriors on any night of the week. Don't buy into graphics arguments between the 2 consoles, that is not either of their strong points and the differences are negligible. The features are neat, but not overwhelming. I do use the voice commands during combat in BF4, for example. Kinect... I still think is a gimick and I don't use the tv feature (cut our cable last year), but I still went with the Xbone for games and community.


tldr; #1) Fuck PS3. #2) Yay Xbox360. #3) I like XBone so far. #4) Unsure about PS4 bc of #1.

The Xbox 360 was awesome back in 2007-2008 when Halo 3 and COD4 were in their prime.

There hasn't been a good competitive shooter released since. Crysis 2 and BF3 had potential but the 360 can't run them. Not to mention they removed support for Halo 2 years ago, and now the old Call of Duty games are full of modded lobbies.

I think my XB1 has a problem ... I was switching from a game to the home screen and the video just went black. Audio works but can't see anything on screen. Did all the obvious reconnection of cords/restarts, still no good.

No I won't enjoy it, I went el-cheapo and didn't purchase a extended warranty. I owned 5 360's before I found one that lasted. I haven't had many issues with my x1, once it appeared to brick for 10 mins. It was in a bootloop I guess, the light on the console was on, kinect off, and it sat there until I unplugged it.

Yeah, that bug is a known issue. I used to have that problem too. I got invited to the os preview program and already have the March update. I haven't experienced it since, so a fix is on the way.

i did. i never played 2k14, madden, fifa, or forza so i traded them in at gamestop. they gave me $30 each, plus $8 extra for each since i am one of those rewards members. i picked up rayman and tomb raider and had some money left over.

i really just started playing tomb raider, but it is fun so far. i'll give you an update when i get further along.

also, i signed up for a lot of the 360 betas so that might have something do to with getting an invite to the xbone program.

Called the local Best Buy to see if they had any of the new Turtle Beach XO Seven headsets in stock and the guy tells me they have 3 on the shelf.

By the time I get to the store, I am just able to grab the only one on the shelf. I go to pay but the cashier tells me she cant sell them because they aren't supposed to be on sale until tomorrow (Friday). I tell her how I called ahead and ask for the manager.

My lucky day, he tells me if I come back tomorrow for them, he will give them to me for half price. Yahtzee!

how do you like the turtle beaches? what is the difference between the 4 and 7s? they are all wireless except for connecting to the controller right?

^I'd get the XO4 if I wasn't already converting my PC headset. I can't justify paying $100 for a cheap ass headset when I paid $40 for my Sennheiser PC pair and the adapter is only $25. That said, the XO4 seems like the best option otherwise. I was originally leaning toward the Polk 4-shot/Melee, but initial quality of the 4 shot is apparently bad. The XO7 has a leather band and some style inserts, but otherwise seems the same as the XO4. The leather might make it a bit more comfortable, but $150 is really steep. At that point, I'd be considering getting Astros.

Btw, thanks for the heads-up about Game Stop! Especially the bonus. I ended up getting $98 in store credit for Ghosts and Forza 5. Put part of it towards a Destiny preorder, which comes with beta access. I don't usually pre-order, but Bungie seems like a pretty solid bet. I only paid ~$100 for both games in the first place, with tax, so that was pretty awesome.

Picked up the half price XO Sevens today.

The headset required an update for the controller which was accomplished by plugging in the USB to mini USB cord that came in the box. The mini end went in the front of the controller and the USB went in the Xbone. Update was simple prompts on the screen and only took about two minutes.

The headset is wirelessly connected to the Xbox but a cord connects the headset to the controller for chat purposes. One end of the cord is permanently attached to the headset. A breakaway cord connects the headset cord to the controller adapter.

The controller adapter is just like the one that came with the xbox except there are two buttons on the left. Top left button is pushed to select game audio and lower left button is pushed to switch controls to chat audio. The center button mutes your mic and the buttons on the right are up and down volume buttons. When switching between chat and game audio, make sure you push the button on the left until it beeps before trying to use the volume up and down buttons.

I am not audiophile but the audio sounds good to me and gives a surround sound effect. I dont believe it is true surround sound per Dolby, but directional sound is easy to tell.

The mic boom plugs into the left earpiece and can be removed. The housing and jack are slotted so that it is "locked" in.

The headset is adjustable on both sides and the earpieces can rotate such that they can lay flat.

i ended up picking up some XO sevens over the weekend with my gamestop credit. i wish there was better directions on how the adapter works. from this video it looks like the chat and game buttons control the volume of each feed vs the other, while the volume +/- controls the master volume. that seems like a weird way to have it set up.

as far as tomb raider goes, its a fun game, but really easy. the only downfall of death is that you have to start over at a checkpoint, but there are so many that you are never really that far back. lara also has this "survival instinct" thing where it basically highlights everything you can collect and what you need to do to advance. like i said it is fun, but easy.
