Rephrase, they don't get the exposure they deserve.

I was really close to posting this in the regular thread, but decided to put it here for now

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/06/14/game-thrones-jon-dies-interview

I'm going to be really really pissed if Jon Snow is actually gone from the show

Lol of course he is saying that. Someone already posted a picture of him from Belfast today where the show is filming. Wouldn't be much of an offseason if after this episode they just say "Haha, I'm alive!!!".

Okay good, didn't know about the pictures.

Comments similar to these wound up being true about Catelyn/Stoneheart, so I give them a little weight

Ehh that is different. I mean I might be wrong, but I'm assuming Jon will come back in a much bigger way then Lady Stoneheart did when/if he returns in book 6.

I would love stoneheart to be in it. It would be so creepy to have her all messed up entering frame.

I mean like everything take it with a grain of salt. The person who posted the pictures even said that Kit told her not to post the pictures, and that the media wasn't supposed to know he was there. Might've been a fake.

But either way, I'm pretty confident in saying Kit Harrington's character is not dead. Whether he returns as Jon, some sort of Whitewalker, or something, he will be back.

Until book 6 comes out, I guess? Should we make a book only thread so people and ask people who have seen the series not to ruin it?

benidict slumbercrotch spent a year telling everyone he wasn't playing the role of Khan in Star Trek.

hell, Ron Pearlman spent last year denying any involvement with the Fallout franchise, only to say "...one of the tougher secrets I ever had to keep..." the day Fallout 4 was announced.

Rumors picking up steam that Season 6 will open with a flashback, either the tourney at Harrenhal (where Rhaegar met Lyanna) or the Tower of Joy. We'll know fairly soon if Sean Bean shows up in Belfast.

I'd be okay with that. A lot of those "stories" always sounded really awesome...would be nice to put some visuals to them.

Yeah, I would have a pretty embarrassing geekasm if they put this on screen,

Quote :
"“I looked for you on the Trident,” Ned said to them.

“We were not there,” Ser Gerold answered.

“Woe to the Usurper if we had been,” said Ser Oswell.

“When King's Landing fell, Ser Jaime slew your king with a golden sword, and I wondered where you were.”

“Far away,” Ser Gerold said, “or Aerys would yet sit the Iron Throne, and our false brother would burn in seven hells.”

“I came down on Storm's End to lift the siege,” Ned told them, and the Lords Tyrell and Redwyne dipped their banners, and all their knights bent the knee to pledge us fealty. I was certain you would be among them.”

“Our knees do not bend easily,” said Ser Arthur Dayne.

“Ser Willem Darry is fled to Dragonstone, with your queen and Prince Viserys. I thought you might have sailed with him.”

“Ser Willem is a good man and true,” said Ser Oswell.

“But not of the Kingsguard,” Ser Gerold pointed out. “The Kingsguard does not flee.”

“Then or now,” said Ser Arthur. He donned his helm.

“We swore a vow,” explained old Ser Gerold.

Ned’s wraiths moved up beside him, with shadow swords in hand. They were seven against three.

“And now it begins,” said Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning. He unsheathed Dawn and held it with both hands. The blade was pale as milkglass, alive with light.

“No,” Ned said with sadness in his voice. “Now it ends.”"

I would love to see a spin off showing all the major events that happened prior to ASOIAF - the children of the forest, the first men, the age of heroes, the doom of valyria, etc etc

There are so many badass stories that I'm sure they could do a whole other standalone show

I read that theory the other day, but I don't really think it holds water. Seems mostly built around the fact that the actors in the show look sort of similar.

Yeah...there are some decent connections.

Probably not as strong as other theories...but there's definitely groundwork. And I think it gives Martin some "aha!"...since everyone and their grandma knows about R+L=J.

This guy's channel has some craaaaazy stuff to think about. This is a 3 part series specifically about R +L = J. Gives an alternate theory that works just as well and provides more parallels between Jon and danny.

The wildest of his videos is the sweet Robin series. Provides a ton of incite into Martin's thinking.

I just think it's sad that he doesn't give a fuck anymore if the show spoils the books. Giving that "I watched the Martian movie before reading the books" example is bull shit. That whole post was just a long drawn out excuse

I just hope he's told someone how he plans to finish the books so when he dies the stories don't die with him

^ yeah, otherwise you're looking at a Brian Herbert/Kevin Anderson destruction of the Dune series Frank Herbert started (due to him dying and his son finding notes on the final books)

I'm about half way through Clash of Kings. I didn't really notice many plot differences in GoT vs. the first season. CoK is definitely more interesting and foreshadows a lot of stuff I've seen come later in the show (like Bran being able to worg/warg or whatnot). These books take forever to read - so much detail. It's hard to sort through what's relevant for later and what's just fluff. I'm enjoying them, though - trying to get through the series before the next season of GoT.

What book do things really start to deviate from the show / what book will I start to get new information and story lines?

Looks like he's set to cut off Jon Snow's head in that final clip. I imagine he will wake up right before it happens? Question is...which episode does it happen in...hope its early.

And HOLY FUCK at little Stark kid beside the White Walker King. I'm sure it's one of his "visions" or whatever...but there was just a shit-ton of awesome in that trailer.

After seeing the first episode of season 6, I just don't see how Martin will be able to keep his own plot that is different from the show. I mean I hope he's still on board "advising" the writers where they need to go with the story, but at this point, I think he ends up getting lazy and just writes his books where the show goes.

I haven't read this anywhere else but I had an epiphany - in Feast Brienne goes to quiet isle where the silent monk people live and it's implied that Sandor Clegane might be the undertaker guy. His horse is there, etc and the undertaker is massive in size, has a hooded face, etc. the head monk says he tried to help the hound but the "hound" died. Fan theories think that it means the angry Hound personification "died" and the actual man lived on and has now resolved to a life of faith and solitude.

I think Sandor will end up at Cercei's trial. She will call the Mountain as her champion in a trial by combat. The Sparrow will call Sandor, who we find out is now a sparrow/faith militant.

This accomplished several things:

It will give the fans the eagerly awaited "Cleganebowl."

It gives Sandor vengence on Gregor but in a legitimate/legal/holy way.

It throws a fan favorite character on the side of the Sparrow, adding a new dimension.

^, ^^^I think Arya gets in the mix. Its the only other place for her to go to execute her list. Or she heads straight to the north.

I think it will be Loras, given what we know on the show. However, I'd still love to see The Hound get a comeback.

thought I had at least somewhat of an original twist on it

I'm not sure Arya will get in on it. There have been others on her list that she wasn't able to get to first. I don't think she has any intention to kill the Hound (also if we assume "the Hound" is dead and this is Sandor now".

I wouldn't be surprised if she does, but I'd rather see Sandor destroy giant monster Gregor.

A Hound/Mountain battle, where the Hound wins, would also fulfill Cercei's "dying at the hands of the younger brother" prophecy
