3rd in ACC this year. best we've done in a long time. UNC looks tough against a great IU team that would roll us by 37
11/27/2012 9:51:08 PM
We could def still finish second. I do think first is asking alot.
11/27/2012 9:51:56 PM
Rich Howell is the only player I feel like shows real heart 100% of the time, but he cant stay on the court. I'm impressed w/ Warren but havent seen enough yet.so far, this team is rivaling the Hickson team for "talent that cant play together and wont play D." hopefully Gott does something about this asap.

I'll leave the conference standings predictions until any team plays a conference game

Michigan will drop. They don't make mistakes so they won't give the polls much reason to drop them, but they don't look like a final 4 team.
11/27/2012 9:56:08 PM
they wont dropat all
11/27/2012 9:57:31 PM
Which 4 teams that you've watched look better so far? MAYBE Duke or Louisville. But, that's it.
11/27/2012 9:57:42 PM
Some stats that stood out to me: Warren 8-10 FGA, Howell 6-7 FGA, Wood made our only 2 threes and our team shot 8 threes to 24 from UM, we actually shot better than them from the field 57% to 50%, we had twice as many fouls 18 to 9, and even though Lobro shot 3-10 FGA he had 10 assists and 1 TO.I think we'll be alright.

You guys are about 1-2 games behind with recognizing the data. OSU game told us we were 3rd in the ACC but still a good team. You guys are there now. The last two games have told me that we are in big trouble in general. You can forget the ranking. We may bounce in and out but right now we are trending towards being a bubble team in march. With our defense, we will struggle against the top half of the ACC. The UCONN game is a must win if you want to prove me wrong. Too many games have been played for us to be a "good team just waiting to bond" excuse.

haha, i admit post-loss lunacy, got it genetically from my dadthat said, the lack of effort at times and the lack of general awareness on the court are very frustrating. where your guys arent talented, its easier to handle b/c there isnt much they can do beyond play hard. but when they are talented and just play soft all the time, very frustrating.EXHIBIT A, B, C AND Dmessage_topic.aspx?topic=624066[Edited on November 27, 2012 at 10:05 PM. also for the people saying we wouldnt miss TDT at all, please see JVD's PT this game. slowest guy on the damn planet.

Take a look at the results for the JJ hickson team yall are talking about: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/schedule/_/id/152/year/2008/north-carolina-state-wolfpackDidn't realize they lost their last 9 ACC games to miss the NIT. What a fiasco. I do remember the ECU loss though, and Hickson scoring 31 in his first game.
11/27/2012 10:11:16 PM
yall? its just me bro.and that team had promise coming into the season, Costner finally playing like an AA at end of season, McCauley as the heart of the team, gavin showing sense once in-a-while. Then Hickson comes in and becomes A#1 KING OF NEW YORK day 1 and the team sulks through the whole season. that team had talent, whether anyone cares to admit it or not.
11/27/2012 10:15:45 PM
Hickson's first game was pretty flawlessit basically got him drafted
11/27/2012 10:16:57 PM
every other game however...and hickson played decently well that season but he wasnt ready to be the focus of an ACC offense and we struggled trying to force it into him against good big men.but my post history is littered w/ rants about Lowe's handling of that team, moving on...
11/27/2012 10:19:01 PM
talented? yes....2nd most talented in state's history? lol.
11/27/2012 10:20:25 PM
^sorry, i meant to qualify that as 2nd most talented in the last 10, maybe 15 or 20, years.

For those of you watching the UNC game, IU just turned it on. Doubt they win by less than 10
11/27/2012 10:22:05 PM
11/27/2012 10:26:39 PM
yeah, but UNC won't fall far in the rankings, if at all, cause IU is ranked so much higher than them

name better teams. Two McD's AA, both of whom could play at a high level in the ACC, plus multiple top-50, top-100 guys that had proven themselves exceptional athletes and capable of playing well in any given game. Plus Tracy Smith off the bench. Unfortunately, none of them could ever show up on the same night. they had no PG, but plenty of teams have survived w/out a pg.It goes down to the question of how much smarts and heart go into the term "talent" i guess. Hodge was probably single-handedly better than those teams if you include those factors, but he had no help.[Edited on November 27, 2012 at 10:39 PM. Reason : a]

better vs talentedhodge/grundy were better coached (BLASPHEMY) and those two guys had more heart by themselves then the combined abilities of the Hickson team.^evtimov, melvin vs costner/mccauley?[Edited on November 27, 2012 at 10:41 PM. Reason : a]

i disagree, but its a pointless argument
11/27/2012 10:41:33 PM
truei could probably sound more rational in a face-to-face argument, but i'm cool w/ letting it drop.
11/27/2012 10:42:18 PM
PG's on that team Degand, Freshman Javi, Marques Johnson. Complete ass at that position[Edited on November 27, 2012 at 10:42 PM. Reason : trying to replace Atsur][Edited on November 27, 2012 at 10:46 PM. Reason : Success usually require a point guard in college basketball]

The Ishua Benjamin, Curtis Marshall, Lakista McCuller team was way more talented
11/27/2012 10:44:32 PM
A good coach would have compensated for the downgrade from Atsur to poo poo platter w/ the upgrade of an almost-NBA talent like Hickson (almost as in he wasnt quite ready, needed time in the weight room)^^ding ding ding? hodge/grundy had archie fucking miller running the point. I hate to say it, but Gott really has to think about sitting Wood. Start Purvis and Warren. He is a defensive liability and is basically useless when he can't spot up. More athletic teams eat him up.
11/27/2012 10:45:28 PM
not to continue the argument, but I'd take Melvin/Evtimov over Costner/McCauley
11/27/2012 10:47:59 PM
again, head vs talentcostner alone was more talented than both those guys combined.[Edited on November 27, 2012 at 10:49 PM. Reason : haha also NOT TO CONTINUE THE ARGUMENT, BUT LETS CONTINUE #ThreadHijack]

arguing about this type of stupid pointless bullshit helps me remember why i love sports after a game like thisi could argue about subjects like this for hours, in an enjoyable way (to me anyways). Not much gives me more conversational pleasure than a good SPORTS TALK (sponsored post).
11/27/2012 10:51:36 PM
Costner and Melvin were pretty comparable...4's who could hit the 3...dunno why you act like Costner was Lebron
