Better still, JJ is on the DL. Maybe they'll just forget to reactivate him. Moylan will be back soon!!

JJ is on the DL? I guess that was the move they made to open up Maholm's spot? The Braves probably just listed the injury as arm problems.

When is Moylan returning? Braves pen is looking better each week with Venters starting to get it together, Avilan pitching decent, and Gearrin/Durbin giving some good outings. The pen (if you just look at the names) looks like complete ass on paper other than Kimbrel/Venters/EOF.

JJ went on the DL the same night he pitched in relief, which was weird. Moylan is at Gwinnett, I think.

Holy hell Tony Gwynn. I bet his fat ass cannot even swing a bat now. Maybe Greg Maddux could actually get him out now.

Man, it feels real good to actually own the phillies for once...since the early 2000's. Granted, they are a shadow of their former selves, but still. Now, if those fuckers from DC would just lose at the same time. It's unbelievable how consistent they have been all year.

Phillies are so fucking bad. And I'm not even really talking about the W/L and the score, but just the fundamentals, they are so bad at them now. That Howard pickoff throw to second looked like something out of a Dorf movie. Missed cutoff men, outfielders not calling for the ball (either that or they did and the other OF just ignored it, couldnt tell on TV), fumbling the ball in the OF, etc.

I know the Braves are on a tear since the break....I just would like to temper expectations some by posting the teams they have beaten:

Swept Mets
Swept Phillies
1/3 vs Giants
2/4 vs Nationals
2/3 vs Marlins
3/4 vs Marlins
2/3 vs Astros

Not exactly stellar competition. 3-4 vs possible Playoff teams. Another fun thing I noticed is that we face the Pirates in a series to end the season. Talk about playoff implications. I love Bravos Baseball!

^ You play the schedule you are given. There are only about 6-7 quality teams in the NL anyway so it's more likely than not that you will be playing a bad team. Look at the Reds 2nd half schedule and you'll see why they are going to coast into the playoffs with the best record in the NL.

The Braves really are a different team now than they were before the break. Adding Sheets has been a huge move and with the full lineup healthy sans Simmons, the team is playing more consistent. I still believe the Braves will overtake the Nats.

"The new-look Phillies, meanwhile, failed to sell out Citizens Bank Park for the first time since July 7, 2009, ending a streak of 257 sold-out regular-season starts. It was the longest home sell-out streak in National League history. Only the Red Sox (current streak of 772 sellouts) and Indians, who sold out 455 from 1995-2001, have had longer streaks."

This makes me Glad the Braves could be there to see this streak end.

"One MLB official told ESPN.com’s Buster Olney that the Phillies would like to re-acquire a player they once drafted and developed. "You know who they want, right?" the official asked Olney. "They love Michael Bourn." Bourn also figures to draw interest from the Nationals when he hits free agency this offseason, and the Braves will likely have some interest in retaining him. Bourn and agent Scott Boras might have tremendous leverage as the three NL East teams bid for his services. Olney suggests Bourn figures to get a multiyear deal in the $16-22MM per season range, and I agree."

the Nats makes sense. Shouldn't the Phils be looking to trade everything they have and get younger? Not pay $20M for a 31 year old?

Uggla with the big hit last night. Maybe that will get him going. Even though he has been horrible the past two months or whatever, he has had a few good moments.

Hudson sucked last night. Got the Mess coming up next.

i stepped away from the game in the 4th up 6-1 and told my gf "i think the braves have this one handled" i checked my phone about 30 minutes later and saw 6-6 glad they didn't shit all over themselves and the bats stayed hot.

I'll believe Uggla is back when he shows up against a better team.

^ A hit is a hit regardless if it is against the a suck team like the Phils or a good team like the Yankees. Uggla getting three hits is a good sign for the Braves. He's probably already exceeded his July production thus far in August.

The Nats just keep winning. They did what the Braves should have done and swept the amazingly horrible Astros. I am not backing off my prediction that the Braves will overtake the Nats. They still have 6 head to head meetings and the Nats will have some concerns with the young pitching come Sept. LaRoche has been on fire for Washington, but we Brave fans know that his goofy ass will hit .450 for a couple weeks and then follow it up with four weeks of striking out and hitting .100.

Sucks we blew a chance to gain some ground on the Nats. Still 7 weeks or so to catch those assholes. I don't like the idea of the Braves being stuck in a one game series against the Pirates or Dodgers if we fail to win the East. I like us in a longer series, but definitely not this one game crap.

Damn this Padres series for the Braves was supposed to be a chance to gain some ground on the Nats. After this series the Braves have 9 games against the LAD, Nats, and Giants. Make or break time. Nats schedule is much easier once this Giants series is over for them.

Diaz is a good role player for playing against lefties, but the Braves already replaced him by acquiring Reed Johnson. Hope Diaz can recover, but his time with the Braves may be over.

Also fuck D.Lowe and the Yankees since I have to look at both now everytime I post in this thread. Ernie you need to have a picture of Kate Upton in the OP of the 2013 thread.

Let's just accept the fact that this is the Nats year. Braves were playing out of their minds since the all star break and didn't make up a single game. I hate the idea of a 1 game playoff with pittsburgh/LA/St. Louis as well, but I don't know if I can see the braves catching washington. Let's at least ensure it's a home game
