Yeah I typically use speakers but when it's later I'll use them. They really work well for phone calls too via Google. Use them for conference calls all the time.

I wish they had done a benchmark on BF3, it would be interesting to see.

over $300 though? I'd have to see some benchmarks in BF3, the only game that would really show the difference.

not worth it, For $300, I'd get a 6950/70 2gb.

The new EVGA 560ti 2Win (basically a 560ti x2 card) looks pretty cool, but damn... $500ish for a 560Ti SLI is pretty hard to chew. Good option for those who want a single card solution but don't want to dish out 750+ for the 590.

killing people 400+ meters is fun but hard for head shots so always takes 2 or 3 hits. but i'm aiming for the 400+ headshot.

Damn, I'm at 387, with the sv98. I can consistently get hit markers at up to about 350m but beyond that gets pretty difficult.

Trying to figure out how much to lead people by at those distances is pretty damn hard. I've gotten hit markers on Firestorm in the crane at A on people coming from E, but from that distance the bullet travel is so long, half the time they change direction before it gets there.

I really don't like SC in this game. 3d spotting is one of the lamest things ever. And I play recon most of the time trying to hit people from really far distances so I don't like having to hit people 3-4 times to kill them (if I can't get a headshot). If I hit someone from 600m away, they should be dead.

I play assault or support roles, so I'm always using an assault rifle. If I was sniping, SC would suck for it. But I like my M27 and c4/claymore combo.

Can anyone give me a no-BS assessment here: I did not like BC2 at all, but I do really like BF2. Will I like this? How is the infantry gameplay compared to BC2?

Oh and that would be for the PC version, and yes my PC can run it.

I loved BF2, but wasn't a fan of BC2 at all. I gave it a shot, probably played 50+ hours of it - just never liked it. I think BF3 is growing on me as I unlock and modify some of the cooler guns and gadgets, it has some characteristics of both BF2 and BC2

having played 500+ hours of BC2 and probably 1000+ hours over the years of BF2, I like BF3. If you played MoH, the game play is pretty similar, but its a cross between COD and BC2. If you like fast action play, you can do it, or stay afar and pick people off. I just like the mobility and ability to choose how you wish to play.

It's got the same kind of brutalness that BC2 has, but a friendlier feel of control that BF2 has. If you are up in the air, I'd say go test it out at a friends house or see if you can play it at an internet cafe (donno if this is possible).


Can't wait till my Clan's lan party this weekend. Should be pretty awesome. I know plenty of people are gonna be sad to see that I am actually not hacking.

I just converted a friend to BF3.... I showed him the trailers of BF3, he bought it for PS3... played 41 hours already... waited in line for MW3, went home and played it til 3:30am. Took today off to play MW3 and ended up playing BF3 3+ hours in addition to MW3. He said he actually liked BF3 better and never thought he'd say it... and that's on console!!!!

It is an e-IPS + LED 1920x1080 23" LCD for $170 after MIR on NewEgg until 11/30/11

Overall for the price the display is very nice and it will allow me to have workspace while in a full screen application. Or even have two multimedia types playing on both screen.

It does have black light bleed (common in W-LED displays) when displaying black in a dark room.


my question is what monitor do I game or watch videos on? I have the P-MVA BenQ FP241W and then I will be adding this beside it. Obviously I can't run Multi Monitor since it is 2 screens and not 3. Does anyone know of a better deal than this? Or does anyone own the monitor and can give me some feedback?


I know the BenQ FP241W is one of the highest rated multimedia monitors in the last 5-10 years, but I'm not sure how it stacks up to something newer like this. The BenQ was right under $700 about 5 years ago and I still don't regret buying it to this day. The only thing the BenQ is missing is a digital audio out and higher response times.

Basically, any opinions on the panel?

the key word is Local; if we were all still in Raleigh/State we could easily get a LAN together. However even at an Engineering/Geek colleges like State, few people have a computer up to the task of running the game.

I assume he's doing surround or eyefinity? Really no benefit going higher than dual SLI unless you're at that high a resolution. Hell a single 580 runs it great at 1920 by 1200.

I have to admit, the new Frostbite engine is pretty boss. The beta ran fine on my laptop, good on my server machine (8800GT SLI, Core2Quad Q6600), and perfect on my current machine (i7-2700k, HD6970). I bought it last night with MW3. Enjoying the getting back to vehicles, but the gunplay still feels...off for me. Not that BF2's infantry gameplay was great, but I did like it better than BC2s.

Anyone have problems with running this on overclocked graphics cards? There are apparently some issues with this, but I didn't know how widespread. I couldn't even run the game until I scaled my overclock way back from where I had originally set it.

I also finally figured out how to reset the timings on my AutoHotkey macro so that whenever I aim down sights, I'm also always constantly spotting.

Nvidia or ATI? Been running smooth on both the 460 (SLI) and 580 I've tested it on. Both quite overclocked. Have you stress tested your OC'd card before in general? Maybe it's the OC and not BF3.

Ended up getting the COD MW3 Turtle Beach Earforce Charlie headset at best-buy. THe X12 i was going after was sold out.

I like them so far. 5.1 is awesome. Just gotta get used to the amplified headset static noise when no audio is played. Only gripe is the in-line control unit is not far enough away from my head. I want it to lay in my lap or on the table and instead its about belly-button level.

I hit level 20 today..JBaz plays ALOT and he is very good. I have never been online and Not seen him in-game.

I played about 40 hours the first week, but I've only played about 4 hours this week, mostly yesterday. I mostly play on my clan's AFRO server. I'm like 5k points away from lvl 42 so like 1 or two more matches. A few other friends in may clan have like 10-20 more hours than me, yet I'm still like 10-15 lvls higher than them. my points per min is pretty crazy.

I get a shit ton of points for cappin, kill assist and supply points. If you really want to level, play TDM on a small server, like 16 man. I usually get 10k-20k points per match. once you get claymores, its hard not to dominate the server.

^Never played TDM. I really wish games did not use the COD "leveling" scheme.. I would play the shit out of a game anyways. It would just mean i would die less to start with since everyone has the same shit.

^^IDK about the scene anymore either (since CS 1.5 / mohAA) but i would be interested for sure.

I play on TDM servers that have all the weapons unlocked. its nice since I can just instantly use any upgrades I want to work on for a weapon so I can use it on normal servers. Working on my platinum stars on a few support weapons atm. Close to getting my 2nd one so then I'll start to work on the m249 next.
