No. Rothstein made mention about how he doesn't let women interfere with his business (like Nucky has with Billie) because he doesn't have anything between his legs. Does anyone else remember something like that?

Nucky told Rothstein he was dead below the waistThe gelding comment was in the Nucky/Eddie conversation. [Edited on October 17, 2012 at 10:31 AM. Reason : .]

I thought it was just Nucky that made the comment about Rothstein being "dead below the waist" I don't think Arnold made mention of that himself other than to say he's not ruled by his dick.

nm]
10/17/2012 10:22:27 AM
Ah, Eddie Cantor was the one that made the gelding comment. But I'm not even sure if that was made in reference to Rothstien in that scene.
10/17/2012 12:44:06 PM
It wasn't
10/17/2012 5:11:32 PM
Jimmy's mom.
10/21/2012 10:30:03 PM
Even Oedipus thinks that's fucked up
10/22/2012 12:28:26 AM
this show is starting to lose it it's still better than most, but they're starting to put too many eggs in one basket
10/22/2012 9:28:52 AM
They may have a lot of story lines going on, but I disagree completely about them "losing it."
10/22/2012 9:40:26 AM
Jimmy's mom is fucking demented. Ugh
10/22/2012 10:25:34 AM
Guess that's what happens when an old guy knocks her up at 13 in Atlantic City
10/22/2012 10:26:43 AM
I'll go ahead and call Nucky having Richard Harrow kill Slater due to him knocking up Margaret
10/22/2012 2:30:11 PM
I kind of hope he knocks off margaret. She is unlikeable and her line is boring as hell
10/22/2012 3:22:12 PM
yeah i think she'll be knocked up here shortly - to sort of play on her birth control campaign that they showed at the start.
10/22/2012 7:11:02 PM
Glad to see Harrow getting some more screen time and a potential love interest.
10/22/2012 10:08:56 PM
So no Al Capone, no Gyp, no Rotheistein, man its like they can't fit everything in anymore.
10/23/2012 7:05:10 AM
I'm hoping for a spinoff for Capones rise in Chicago.
10/23/2012 7:15:11 AM
I liked the end of the courtroom scene when Nucky asked if they could break a 100 to pay the $5 fine.
10/24/2012 9:38:14 AM
So Gyp steals from a church and Jimmy's mom is a psycho.
10/28/2012 10:23:05 PM
you just now figured out the 2nd part?
10/29/2012 12:11:42 AM
No, she's moved to another level.
10/29/2012 8:54:25 AM
this season (series?) is beginning to drag
10/29/2012 10:51:09 AM
terrible episode. i feel like nothing happened.
10/29/2012 2:33:12 PM
That episode had everything that we love about Boardwalk.Eli being incredulousMargaret being humbleGyp being a dick to a throw away character
10/29/2012 3:53:53 PM
Gyp is under a lot of stress. Cut him some slack. Same with that crazy bitch Gillian.
10/29/2012 4:39:55 PM
I am so fucking sick of Gillian. Where the hell are they taking that storyline?
10/29/2012 9:34:16 PM
Harrow continues to be a badass about everything."Let him go right now""Or what?""Or I will kill you"
10/29/2012 10:09:04 PM
I am glad to see more Richard Harrow on screen, but I don't think I like the story they're writing him.
10/31/2012 7:42:10 AM
they're obviously writing a way to get Tommy out of Gillian's custody. Richard Harrow was supposed to be a one-off character. But Jack Huston's portrayal was such a hit with the viewers they kept him on. Even knowing early on in the show's life that Jimmy wasn't going to be around past season 2. So everything they've done with Harrow seems to be on a whim at this point.

That was a great episode not sure how anyone could not like it. The episode doesn't have to be all violence for something to happen...This episode was so dynamic with character development. We learned so much about gyp. The fact that he is the only male in a family of full of women explains a ton. It was greatI really thought nucky and marge were going to bone there at the endGillian needs money and luciano (sp) isn't giving her enough. She needs a body to replace jimmy's i guess for insurance.I hope harrow gets to take that lady to pound town
11/4/2012 2:41:06 PM
Wow. Did not see that coming.
11/4/2012 10:33:39 PM
I got the feeling that chick wouldn't last long a few episodes ago.If Mellon is one of the wealthiest men on the planet at the time, why does he care if his little distillery is up and operational making a profit? Why would he have any ties to any distillery at all whether he believes it should be legal by principle or not. He isn't making his fortune from it. Seems more like a liability than anything. He should just get rid of it.
11/5/2012 7:08:19 AM
as soon as i saw her out on the Boardwalk with Nucky I knew something was going to happen to her. I didn't expect that though. I really wanted to see Nucky get his ass kicked by that actor in Kent's apartment earlier. Guess that was too much to ask for though.
11/5/2012 8:23:23 AM
^^ God complex, most likely. It doesn't matter how insignificant, he doesn't want anyone telling him what he can or cannot do.
11/5/2012 9:01:27 AM
To clarify...Billie dying was expected. The bomb was what I didn't see coming. Although, Gyp likes to go all out so I dunno why it shocked me like it did.
11/5/2012 9:52:22 AM
I was a bit surprised (impressed?) that Gyp was talented/resourceful enough to get his hands on some explosives and plant them unnoticed at Babette's all within the span of a few short hours.
11/5/2012 1:03:18 PM
it's the 1920s. I'm sure it was just a bundle of dynamite with a clock on it.
11/5/2012 1:25:15 PM
Looking forward to seeing Nucky and Goldstein's combined efforts to take down Rosetti now. I was expecting Harrow to come warn Nucky since he obviously knows what Gillian did and disapproves but we'll see.
11/7/2012 9:50:44 AM
Rothstein
11/7/2012 11:28:24 AM
^he had a handle on the jewish part at least.
11/7/2012 11:55:03 AM
lol I don't know where I got Goldstein from but yeah, him.
11/7/2012 11:55:06 AM
11/7/2012 12:14:07 PM
that explosion was insane; the sheer size and intensity of it made me go "holy fuck" out loud. could any reasonable amount of dynamite (i'm assuming TNT due to time-period) have caused that type of explosion IRL?
11/7/2012 1:14:34 PM
perhaps there was a makeshift still in the basement of babette's
11/7/2012 1:18:53 PM
You would need the tnt strategically placed throughout the structure. Something I highly doubt Gyp would have had the time or brains to pull off.
11/7/2012 1:59:01 PM
It seems like every other character in the show has some well known characters under them in their criminal enterprise.Gyp just has a bunch of nameless henchman with guns whose loyalty is never explained. Also I have no idea how he got to where he is, he just seems like a two dimensional villain for one season.
11/7/2012 2:44:36 PM
^Yeah he does seem like a standard "bad guy" but the thing that I'm not too sure about it is that he just isn't nearly as powerful as the other gangsters. It seems like Torrio runs all of Chicago, Rothstein runs all of New York, and obviously Nucky runs all of Atlantic City. I just don't see how Rosetti is even able to compete with that.Van Alden delivered as always. I still feel bad for him though, even though he's almost a "villain". I'm glad that guy ironed. It will be interesting if he becomes a full time henchman of that guy in Chicago and ends up running into Nucky again.Speaking of Chicago, it looks like things are gonna be heating up with Capone more. Looks like he's starting to disagree with Torrio on some things. Maybe in the season finale he takes over?
11/7/2012 4:14:02 PM
^^It may not be a fully fleshed-out backstory, but they've alluded a bunch to Gyp's upbringing in an extremely poor family in Sicily. Goes a long way in explaining his intense inferiority complex. And I thought they did a good job bringing more dimension to Gyp's character a few episodes ago, when they showed him being relentlessly chastised by his mother at Easter dinner, and then also when he has the tirade in the church: "What, I don't deserve love?!."I personally love Gyp's character, even though it's clear he won't make it through the end of the season. Maybe it's just that he's so well-acted by Bobby Cannavale, but I haven't been bothered by him since the season debut, when all he did was walk around being pissed and insulting everyone.I will say that I don't like the characters of Margaret or Van Alden; both portrayed by good actors (especially Shannon, he's excellent), but their storylines resemble a dog chasing its own tail.
