a possible lakers + cavs final with the kobe shaq storyline would be crazy

MVP should have been Josh Powell...

...He actually played a few minutes during the playoffs, even though I don't think he saw the floor during the finals, nice to have an NCSU guy getting a ring, even if it was Powell

I'll put Howard, Turkoglu and Lewis up there in the best 3-man tandems in the league...up there with Duncan, Parker, Ginobli (although injuries fucked up their chemistry and stamina), Garnett, Pierce and Allen (even though KG was hurt), etc...Kobe was the best player in the building, Howard needs to develop some type of an offensive game aside from dunks, and look out for Cleveland next year with Lebron and SHAQ

Great playoffs this year. Best basketball on the planet. If you tell me you like the style of play in college basketball more, I'll take it as a given that you don't understand the sport.

Glad Kobe won his Championship, but I'm sure I'm in the minority on that one.

Countdown to Knicks relevance: 1 more long year.

^ Agreed. The playoffs this year were great. I just wish the Magic could have closed out game 4 and made the finals more interesting.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the were for the fact that it was just seven years since your last title. You're acting like you waited a lifetime for one, when this is your FOURTH of the damn decade.

My favorite team hasn't won one since 1973...

Congrats to Kobe and Phil!

Couple of things looking forward:

1) How good will the Celtics be next season? Is age catching up with them?

2) If Shaq joins Lebron, how good do they get? Is this Lebrons last season in Cleveland?

3) Who do the Lakers sign, Ariza or Odom or Both? Can they repeat?

4) Are the Magic a one year wonder???

5) Which team out west will step up and compete with the Lakers?? Denver? San Antone? Houston?

1) Solid again, but yes age is definitely becoming a factor, especially with Shuttlesworth

2) Instant favorites to win the East; if Cleveland continues to show they'll spend money to get him help, I think he stays with the Cavs

3) Ariza if they can only sign one of them, he's much younger; sign both of possible...definitely can repeat

4) If they can keep Turkoglu, no they're not a one-year wonder...Howard, Nelson and Lewis are locked in for a few years...when Howard develops some baby hooks, 10' bank shot jumpers, etc, they will be scary good

5) Despite age, if Duncan, Parker and Ginobli can stay healthy they can still compete, but I think Houston gives them the most trouble...Yao is Yao, and Artest played the best defense on Kobe in the entire playoffs

the Rockets are a better team overall without McGrady

their 20+ game win streak without him 2 years ago is evidence of that, if you needed evidence

But after that...baseball...nascar...golf...thats about it...at least NFL Live is on all year on ESPN and profootballtalk.com is up (crazy football players always getting arrested), and Cowherd has the Daily Football Fix

but yeah...this is the dead season for sports

No we can't. I'm sure you're too young to remember MJ at his best, but I'm an old fucker and remember it well (his last season in Chicago was my SOPH year in H.S.). Kobe needs to a) win 3 more titles; and b) maintain his last two year level for the next five years.

a) is possible because LA will continue to build a great team around him and b) is close to impossible with the mileage he has put on his knees. He is a workaholic so I'm not going to say it IS impossible, but it's highly unlikely.

^^^ baseball season is shaping up to be a very bad thing for me!

he has luckily gotten good run support, and can strike guys out...he is a promising pitcher

dont freak out over one horrible johan start after a couple below average starts...he'll pick it back up...he misses jose reyes

you'd probably rather have mauer or morneau...or, up until this year, nathan
