I mean, I can understand a little home-court bias or big-conference bias, but one team MAKING FOUR TIMES the number of FT's the other ATTEMPTED? wtf, ncaa...

well nobody was talking about that.

I said scheyer was the 2nd best in the acc and best in the nation statistically and you reply by saying you'll take john wall? that would imply that he was either a top 2 pg in the acc or the best pg in the nation statistically.

So what you're saying is assists / turnovers is the only stat that matters when comparing PGs? How good a defensive point guard is Scheyer statistically lol

pretty good on d. 19 ppg. 1steal 43% 3s 4 boards. Thats very efficient offensively and very well rounded overall.

wall gets less points twice as many steals but 4 turnovers per game. less turnovers and less % shooting

[Edited on January 6, 2010 at 10:15 PM. Reason : wall easily is better but not statistically]

so obviously John Scheyer is playing like one of the premier guards in the country this year. However, do you guys see him in the NBA next year?

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Redick has a niche as an outside shooter. Scheyer sure as hell isn't going to be playing PG in the NBA. And he's not as good / quick a shooter as Redick.

He can't be serious... Scheyer probably won't even be drafted...

He's not on any mock I've seen...

Quote :
"
Summary: Dec 18 Update: No senior point guard is having a better season than Duke's Jon Scheyer. He's sporting a ridiculous 6.4-1 assist to turnover ratio and averaging a very efficient 18 points per game. In his last game, against Gardner-Webb, he put up the most ridiculous line of the week: 36 points, 9 assists, 8 rebounds and 7-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc.

At 6-5, Scheyer has great size for his position, has a superior basketball IQ, is a dead-eye shooter from long range and is a true leader on the floor. So why isn't he in the conversation for a first-round pick?

I spoke with a number of NBA scouts and executives about Scheyer. While all of them like him, none was convinced he could make it in the NBA. Why? Position and athleticism. While Scheyer is good about bringing the ball up the floor and initiating Duke's offense, a number of scouts aren't impressed with his ability to create off the dribble. "He basically becomes Duke's 2-guard once the offense gets set," one said.

More importantly, scouts are worried about Scheyer's lack of elite athleticism. His lateral quickness has especially been questioned. "I'm just not sure who he guards at the next level. He's not guarding Brandon Jennings or Tyreke Evans. I don't think he has the quickness to guard 1s or 2s."

Scouts also point out the Scheyer's shooting touch tends to leave him when matched up against quick, athletic guards who can recover rapidly. This year is no exception. In Duke's three games against UConn, Wisconsin and St. John's, Scheyer shot a combined 4-for-19 from 3.

Still, we're taking a wait-and-see attitude. Scheyer has gotten better each year and is putting up big numbers at a high-profile program. Those types of players tend to rise late in the draft. So while he hasn't cracked our top 60, we're keeping our eye on him. "

redick was one of the best shooter in college history but hes used as a set shooter in the nba. scheyer will be just as good of a set shooter and has the ability to handle and penetrate better than jj. plus hes taller, longer, more athletic and can play better d.

Georgia Tech within two of Duke. It's early in the game, but they've already kinda comeback and shit.

14-12 Duke.

AHA, some serious bullshit in this GT game.

GT got away with a little physical stuff in the beginning. Coach K went crazy. So the refs called a load of make-up calls. Scheyer supposedly got fouled on the 3 at the end of the half...they had to go to replay to make sure it was a 3, not a 2...of course, there was no actual foul, just excellent defense that forced Scheyer to take an awkward shot. He swooshed all three FTs.

Six point game at the half.
