^ Mine were David Bowie and Kevin Barnes, lol.
5/19/2009 6:11:51 PM
ha, kevin barnes isn't a very mannish singer...
5/19/2009 6:21:08 PM
agreed, but in comparison to the dude from Passion Pit, he sounds like Barry White.
5/19/2009 6:36:28 PM
I don't mind girly voices so much. It's voices like that of the Decemberists singer that piss me off.
5/19/2009 6:56:44 PM
i don't see how you complain against the dudes voice when they put out such an awesome song in "sleepy head"
5/19/2009 7:00:34 PM
^ Because his voice is part of the song? That, and it sounds like Mickey Mouse being raped.
5/19/2009 8:38:47 PM
i really liked their ep, but his voice does get super fucking annoying on the full-length.
5/19/2009 8:40:27 PM
bradford cox has a pretty normal voice, i think.. i can't recall him ever singing like kevin barnes.
5/19/2009 9:14:51 PM
^Cox was mentioned as singing like a man, but with androgynous appearance.

Ducktails - Ducktails http://rapidshare.com/files/234252993/ducktails.rar.htmllo-fi, psychedelic, mostly instrumental... the songs don't really go anywhere but i'm digging itoh, and the new Bowerbirds leaked, but i'm not gonna post that here. it's good thoughjust found another good link, another lo-fi jam, this one has some pretty fucking catchy songs on it thoughGanglians [self-titled]http://rapidshare.com/files/232515645/2009_-_Woodsist_12__.zip[Edited on May 20, 2009 at 8:16 PM. new sunset rubdown is on BG
5/20/2009 8:37:12 PM
can anyone post that new passion pit?i missed out the first time around
5/22/2009 1:06:40 PM
i could do w/o three minutes of car sounds during "black swan", but other than that i really like the new sunset rubdown.
5/22/2009 3:08:03 PM
Not music of 2009, but I just got a hell of a deal on some vinyl. Holy fuck. (example --- 5 first print Beatles albums... woman asked me for $1 a piece for them... every 45 the Beach Boys and Beatles released b/t 62 and 68 (about 30 of 'em)... gave her $10 for those... WTF?)
5/22/2009 3:46:11 PM
^^black swan is definitely the least accessible song on the album. i could see it being one of those spencer songs that grows on me over time - i felt the same way about "an animal in you care" on at mount zoomer, but now that is one of my fav. tracks on that album.
5/22/2009 8:29:40 PM
Teengirl Fantasy... sounds like Dan Deacon meets The Field. can't find a link but it's on what.cd etc. check it out. these dudes will probably get big soon

Jupiter One new album release date just announced (as in... the band themselves just found out this afternoon)... August 25th. Long way off and I'm probably the only one on this site that follows them, but whatever, just got back from seeing them live so I'll post it anyway. For those slightly interested, they'll be at Jack Sprat Cafe in Chapel Hill tomorrow night. I highly recommend them, amazing band. And they're cool people to chat with after a show.
5/23/2009 3:19:39 AM
the new sunset rubdown is just fucking fantastic. it may be my fave album of the year.
5/24/2009 1:32:41 PM
^i love it too. spencer's songwriting ability is really on display with this album. my favorite track currently is "nightingale/december song".
5/24/2009 2:25:07 PM
I agree. The "live" vibe the album gives off is fantastic. Especially the guitar playing. Can't wait to see them again next month.

5/25/2009 11:53:54 PM
yes please
5/26/2009 2:45:07 AM
I would, but it would be disservice to all mankind.I'll let someone who thinks it's worthy of hearing post it. Check the blogs, though, it's errywhere.
5/26/2009 1:20:19 PM
don't worry, i sent it to the both of them, haha
5/26/2009 1:30:03 PM
nice -- in all seriousness, I would've upped it when I got home -- can't check the links to verify they're still working while I'm at work anymore, though (firewall).
5/26/2009 3:53:58 PM
i haven't listened to it much. I like that one song that's on the radio.
5/26/2009 3:57:24 PM
for some reason, my itunes won't play in rainbows...[Edited on May 27, 2009 at 2:16 AM. Reason : that is, anymore]

Just downloaded Dave Matthew's Band's new album - Big Whiskey and the Goo Grux King. After the first run through, there are 3-4 standout tracks. Not sure it is their best album to date, which was said by some reviewers. Definitely better than Stand Up, but I think some of their earlier albums are better. Of course this is just an initial impression. It'll take plenty more listens for the songs to grow on me.
5/27/2009 5:12:59 PM
just picked up an album that came out last year. people might have talked about it on here or not i don't remember, but I hadnt heard of this band somehow (despite loving both bands they came from). The band is Able Baker Fox, featuring the lead guitar/vocalist from The Casket Lottery and members of Small Brown Bike. Album is called "voices." Really good stuff if you enjoyed either of those 2 bands. I've been rocking this since I woke up.[Edited on May 29, 2009 at 9:41 AM. Reason : ]

oh, that also reminds me, the singer of the casket lottery and able baker fox is the current bass player for Coalesce as well and their new album is awesome. any old fans of them, definitely check that out as well.[Edited on May 29, 2009 at 11:33 AM. Reason : ]

6/2/2009 4:45:54 PM
understandably so haha. I can see people either loving them or never wanting to listen again after you listen for the first time. Theyre not my favorite or anything, but I love listening to them at work a lot.[Edited on June 2, 2009 at 4:51 PM. Reason : ]

I could see it being good "trance-ish" music. not the "trance" genre. but trance-ish.

haha yea i knew what you meant
6/2/2009 5:02:28 PM
