The videos also have someone doing the exercises with bands so I would suggest watching the workouts without doing them so that you can get a clue as to how to use the bands for that particular movement.

^ I never have been. Probably a little of all of it.
7/27/2010 9:26:22 PM
So, the biggest concern I have is that it will be to hard. I don't think I'll be able to complete the recommended requirements. Is that something that you can ignore? or is that definitely a good idea to follow?
7/28/2010 9:22:03 PM
"Just do your best, and forget the rest."
7/28/2010 9:23:19 PM
^ right on. Seriously just do the best you can. He preaches "modify, modify, modify" throughout many of the workouts. Just do what you can and slowly build up strength/endurance. You'll get there.
7/28/2010 9:41:39 PM
At the same time going in with a defeatist attitude isn't healthy either. If by "I can't meet all the requirements" you mean there might be a few exercises you struggle with, that is absolutely fine (and true). If you mean that working out so often might be too hard for you and you already plan on skipping workouts..... that is pretty lame.In order to get the best results you just have to tell yourself before you start, "I am going to commit to 90 days of being tired and sore and eating healthy. Allowing yourself to have any plans other than complete success before you start is already setting yourself up on the road to failure.

^It sounds like such a cheesy thing, but my attitude has been the difference each day. On the days where I'm fired up and confident, I've excelled. But on both days of plyo so far, I had a bad feeling and had no desire to do the workout. And on those days, I struggled.Anyway, it's day 11 for me. I haven't missed a day and I've been eating really well. I've had a couple slip ups in terms of eating, but a drastic change from the way I was eating before. I feel like I've already gained a little bit of flexibility and I improved on chest/back and shoulders/arms days. Didn't do as well on plyo this week for some reason (soreness from back/legs workout and lack of motivation probably played a role).
7/30/2010 10:30:02 AM
Today is stretch day, yay!
8/1/2010 9:57:38 AM
I actually made through Plyometrics without having to pause it for a minute or two. Still stopped early on some exercises though.
8/1/2010 7:06:32 PM
Alright, just got it today! Going to start it on the 16th. For the people who PMed me, sorry, I found it locally here in Charlotte for cheap.Looking through the nutrition guide, how should I substitute the Protein bars and the recovery drinks (and I'm not going to add "protein powder" to anything, should I just add more of the meat?)?Also, LOL at all the typos!Looking at the stuff, I think my wife and I are probably gonna do the "Lean" workout. Not my preference, but it is what it is. Any workout is better than no workout!

^&^^For me, two reasons: The recovery drink is $52 for a 30-day supply and it's filled with chemicals and sugar. The pump people are seeing from it is probably partly unsustainable due to it containing creatine (whose effects go away as soon as you go off of it). So the best thing to do would be to just get some natural protein within 30 min after a workout. I know he said he doesn't want to do protein powder, but hear this out first: I've found unflavored whey protein powder on sale compares favorably to the price/gram-of-protein of boneless skinless chicken breasts from BJs. The unflavored kind is almost entirely protein, whereas flavored is often as little as 60% protein. If you can't stomach mixing the unflavored stuff in, then even the flavored stuff will probably have less chemicals and more protein than the Recovery drink, and will definitely still be cheaper. If you want to do your own comparison, just divide the protein grams on the side of one of these drinks or "formulas" by the total grams in the serving. Do it for the flavored proteins if you'd prefer them to unflavored and pick the one with the highest proportion of protein/serving at the lowest price.[Edited on August 2, 2010 at 1:54 AM. A lot of the protein powders are actually very good, I'm pretty confident that almost anyone can find a flavor they like. The Optimum Whey protein has some of the best flavors in my opinion and it's pretty cheap if you order it off the internet in larger quantities. It's not hard to just drink one or two of these a day with two scoops each and get all the protein you'd ever need in a nice tasting drink.Optimum is 24gm per scoop, and two scoops makes an approximately 10 oz delicious drink with 48gm of protein in it. My favorite is banana cream btw, or strawberry banana.[Edited on August 2, 2010 at 2:30 AM. Reason : ]

^ Do you have any suggestions for adding bulk while doing the Lean program? Like I said in my last post, my wife wants to do that program, while I'd benifit more from the original. Or, should we just do seperate workouts at seperate times?
8/2/2010 10:13:15 AM
^^I think you've lost noticeable weight since we've been playing basketball. no homo
8/2/2010 10:18:06 AM
^^ do a separate workout. You're not going to add bulk doing the lean routine. Personally, I wouldn't even do p90x if i was really trying to add mass. If you do go that route, make sure you don't just do what they're doing on the screen. Read the documents and listen to what they're saying. They do tell you how to adjust rep-range, weights, diet, etc. for different goals (losing weight, adding muscle, adding strength).

8/2/2010 7:29:33 PM
How's it going for everyone so far? Started week 3 yesterday and I've seen improvement each week with the chest/back workout.I did struggle at the end of week 2 -- didn't really have the motivation. But, it was back yesterday!
8/4/2010 9:44:59 AM
I was supposed to start yesterday.. but my apartment is still in shambles. I'm moving my date to next Monday for when I get back from Atlanta (plus I think a Sunday rest day would be nice)
8/4/2010 9:47:57 AM
^^I've had improvements. I've gained some weight since my last update in the beach body thread (2-4 pounds). I'm pretty sure it's muscle mass though.I'll probably scan in my workout sheets at the end of it though so the improvement can be used as motivation for others. Also, pictures help too. 8/4/2010 10:06:40 AM
ran yesterday instead of doing plyo. Mainly because my lab was going batshit crazy and I decided that it would be nice to take him running and burn some of that energy off. workout today after work!!seriously considering using NosXplode (or however its spelled).
8/4/2010 10:37:33 AM
^ Do it! You'll like it. After my first time I felt like Hypnotoad!
8/4/2010 10:42:12 AM
^^I forget if it was NoXplod or another one, but one of those NO supplements has a ton of reviews on Amazon saying that it caused impaired liver function in lab tests they received. None of the other products I looked at said that. I decided to try jack3d, since it seemed to have the best reviews.
8/4/2010 8:56:07 PM
yeah I think I might try something like that for weeks 5-8.
8/5/2010 3:07:32 PM
workout of the day done, and I am smoked. Its very hot in my garage this afternoon. I was sweating like a ho in church.
8/9/2010 6:36:00 PM
So I am looking to get resistance bands. I am more interested in...http://www.amazon.com/Stackable-Resistance-Including-Workouts-Guarantee/dp/7245456313/ref=sr_1_60?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1281400769&sr=1-60It says that each band comes with a handle, which I need so that my wife and I can both use them, but based off of the pictures, it doesn't look that way.Should I get ones with the interchangable handle to stack the weights? or will a set of one's with handles attached suffice?
8/9/2010 9:09:34 PM
I am starting after Intervention tonight (aka 40 minutes)... I'm excited and scurred!
8/9/2010 9:19:18 PM
^^ you can just get an extra set of handles if they don't:http://www.amazon.com/Bodylastics-HEAVY-DUTY-Handles-pair/dp/B002U4W8OU/ref=pd_sbs_hpc_5[Edited on August 9, 2010 at 9:24 PM. Reason : ^^]
8/9/2010 9:23:24 PM
Well, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I'm definitely tired and can feel it I'm excited for plyo tomorrow!
8/10/2010 1:05:47 AM
have fun! plyo is no joke.
8/10/2010 10:06:33 AM
Plyo day! Holla! I still get sore from plyo the day or two afterward and I've been doing it for 8 weeks now.
8/10/2010 10:38:21 AM
Plyo today... I definitely am feeling something from last night's work out, but I'm still excited
8/10/2010 10:39:37 AM
My start date is gonna be sunday or monday. I'm actually excited to test myself. I've always naturally been skinny, but never had much muscle.^ I too am looking forward to the hell know as plyo!
8/10/2010 1:02:34 PM
Like a pterodactyl backing out of trouble... RAWRRRRI LOL'd so hard
8/11/2010 6:36:31 PM
So i have a copy of the DVDs. Where can I get the documentation at online? Anyone have a PDF that they would like to email me?
8/11/2010 7:11:04 PM
theres a link on some page earlier in the thread
8/12/2010 12:36:04 AM
Today is day 40 for me.. haven't missed any. Only lost about 2 pounds, but lost an inch and a half in the waist. Going strong for day 90 on Oct 2!
8/12/2010 10:07:42 AM
^^I found it, it's on page 11 for anyone that doesn't want to search for it. My wife and i will start the lean version on Monday I hope. looking to lose about 50 lbs.
8/12/2010 10:41:43 PM
going strong, I can definitely tell a difference. I'm also running 3 times a week and hiking 3 times a week in addition to the workouts. gotta say bye-bye to my former fatty self.
8/13/2010 9:17:25 AM
That's awesome! I am glad to see so many of us sticking with it after everyone warned how intense it is. I'll admit, some of the new moves (one-armed and clap/plyo pushups) are ridiculous right now, but I, too, have seen improvements and even though I will miss pool season to show off my new look, it gives me all winter/spring to take it even further!
8/13/2010 9:48:35 AM
oh its intense, and I'm bringing more intensity to my workouts than I did at the start. Partly because now I can actually DO some of them lol. Its a great workout!
8/13/2010 10:07:12 AM
I, too, already see a difference Since I weighed myself Monday morning I've gone from 158.2 to 156.8 ... I know it's small, but in only 5 days I feel like that's a big deal. I'm also walking/running with my pup every day.
8/13/2010 11:08:05 AM
So, my wife and my start date is tomorrow. I'm definitely doing the protein recovery drinks and in the food. My wife's goal is different than mine. I'm looking to add muscle and a little weight, she's looking to lose weight and get muscle in the process. Ideas on what's best for her? Should she take recovery protein and add some protein to the diet as well?
8/14/2010 9:25:44 PM
Yes.
8/15/2010 12:00:24 PM
day 1 done! I've officially started Let's see how I feel in a week.
8/15/2010 1:03:47 PM
Just started week 7... I'm definitely seeing some improvement in the abs, even with a layer of flab on top of it. Trying to work on using my core muscles in all exercises for stability and form.
8/15/2010 2:44:51 PM
Wow, only through day 2, and I'm sore up and down. When does the soreness stop?!?!
8/17/2010 10:07:44 AM
You'll be sore somewhere for a while. The good news is, the different workouts target different areas, so you won't be working out muscles that are already sore.
