^^i thought they said his struggles were due to some injury, not 100% positive though but yeah he was sick 2 years ago (liriano)

i got lucky by picking up Pelfrey last night...went from tied in wins and losing in era and whip, to winning all 3

This coming short week could suck for those of us in H2H match ups trying to get our pitching in order and getting some starts.

I have been offered Zambrano and Youkilis for Price and BJ Upton. Upton is my DH so Youk could fit right in and you can't get much better return than Zambrano for a kid that hasn't thrown a pitch in the majors. This is for a non-keeper H2H points league. I need the starting pitching badly. Zambrano would become my instant ace (Shields and Harden my no.2 and 3). It seems like a no-brainer right?

David Price.....the phenom pitching for the Rays' AA affiliate. If you havent heard of him, I suggest you run quickly to your league (any league) and see if he's available. He will arrive on Aug 1st and should be a good one.

david price is a bad ass. like, pretty much every other minor leaguer thats been a huge splash exept better. he'll be one of the top 3-4 pitchers in the MLB in like a year or two.

i need to drop someone since Putz is off the DL... who do you drop?

Matt Cain (SP)
Garza (SP)
Percival
Putz
Gregg
F. Cordero
Lyon

i'd like to hold onto the SP's if possible... Startin' to think I should just drop Putz but I don't want it to backfire. Cordero?

i'm not activating putz until i have to or he starts closing again. I don't know if your league will give you the option to leave him on the DL, but I can do that on yahoo. it gives me the benefit of holding an extra player. of course if i need to make a pickup/drop (like when price is called up), I have to activate him...

this trade was proposed in my league...seems fair enough that I probably won't veto...thoughts?

Sizemore
CJ Wilson
V. Padilla

for

Vlad
George Sherrill
Zambrano

Hope you let that through, seems fair enough.

Wilson = Sherrill
Sizemore = Zambrano
Vlad = Padilla

Or there abouts....even enough.

Marte is out in Pitt, so now who closes? Grabow?

whoa tho, vlad is 10 thousand times better than vicente padilla. id let that trade go through, but vicente padilla sucks ass and vlad has been arguably the best player in the league the past 2 months.

if anyone tried to argue that, they would lose

Vlad's a great player, but he's having a down year... (which is still a good year for most players)

hes raised his average like 50 points over the past 2 months, for one month he was batting something like 421 and now hes hit something like 10 homeruns in the past 30something games. He had an awful start to the year, but saying hes equal to vicente padilla, a pitcher who sucks every year, is ridiculous.

The point was the trade was equal....Sherrill is better than Wilson also....

You're not even close on any of those stats.

He's raised his average 30 points over the past two months and his OPS in that time is "only" .916, hardly making him the hottest player in baseball. His best month was June where he batted .375; and he's hit 10 HR in his past 41 games.

I was just going by what you said. Two months ago he was batting .262, that's a .025 change. Even I was wrong in my last post!

this argument is getting too gay, so i'm just going to end it and say i think the trade is fair i guess, but the guy getting vlad, zambrano and sherrill is getting the better end of the deal for sure.
sizemore is better than vlad
sherrill is better than cj wilson
zambrano is 10 times better than padilla

Ending up doing it - I had casillia at 2b. My OF was pretty strong with Dye, Damon and Ordonez. I had Thome in my Util slot, I could've put Soriano there but I really needed to upgrade my infield. Its a 16 team league so its pretty thin. I still have Webb, Lohse, Kenny Rogers and Hudson as my starting pitchers. Not great but it will work.

I would've said it more like (based on this season)

Sherrill > Wilson
Vlad < Sizemore
Zambrano > Padilla

and for anyone who thinks Vlad is a better player than Sizemore, I don't care, Sizemore is clearly having a better season this year

But anyway, San Diego Padres SP Chris Young will get the start tomorrow against the Diamondbacks. Young's last MLB action was when Albert Pujols drilled a line drive off his face.

^^Actually I know more than about 95% of posters on this board but thanks anyway.

^This was more of the point, that the trade is equal. Obviously Sherrill is better than Wilson and Sizemore is better than Vlad and Zambrano is better than Padilla. Point was he shouldn't veto it.

And FYI I have seen some of your fantasy players and team.....it can't compare to mine. I am 13-4 in a weekly league. 3 games up on everyone. So I don't really care what you think.

Chris Carpenter (2005 NL Cy Young winner) is getting the start tomorrow versus Atlanta. He is coming off Tommy John surgery and hasn't pitched since opening day last year.

Good news for San Diego Padres SP Chris Young owners ^^^ (holla)

He pitched 5 scoreless innings tonight with 2 hits allowed, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts...he left after 5 with a scoreless game versus the Diamondbacks, so he'll get a no-decision, but its good to see him get a strong start against a decent offense in his first action in over a month

salary wise its good, clubhouse ego wise it could be good ( i dont know much about pudge's personality or the tigers chemistry), but farnsworth? i dunno...time will tell...cant do much worse than your current bullpen i guess, especially with your bats not swinging like they were the last couple years

Brandon Phillips out of the starting lineup today (as if anybody with Phillips has a backup 2B)

I'm in first place in my league, and recently made a trade with the 2nd place team.

I had Putz on my DL and didn't want to activate him before he started getting saves and was in some sort of a groove. However, I needed to make a pick-up to add more power to my line-up.

I traded Putz for Kerry Wood straight up. Wood is on the DL right now. Thoughts on the trade?

Great for you....Putz may not be the closer, right now him and Morrow are sharing, and the Cubs win and the M's don't.

I need to drop one of these guys who should it be:

Javier Vasquez
Chris Young
Mike Pelfrey
Chris Carpenter

I also have Beckett, Peavy, Volquez and Duchscherer but I don't think I'm going to drop any of them

Vasquez has been terrible....

Milton Bradley might be headed for the DL.....but Hamilton is now DH eligible for me. LOL.

I picked up Billy Butler who has been raking.

i picked up tatis (over butler) who is the hottest hitter in the mlb right now. he's still available in most leagues too.

Quote :
"OF Fernando Tatis led all major league hitters with a .397 batting average for July. The last Met to lead the majors in a month was OF Rickey Henderson (.410) in August of 1999."

i picked up matt kemp a few weeks ago and he has been ridiculously hot lately...i just dropped jim thome because i can't afford missed starts with the adding of griffey to the DH spot.

^^i ended up dropping Pelfrey...and BJ Ryan...then taking Carpenter off the DL and adding him to my active rotation, and adding Liriano

- Ryan
- Pelfrey

+ Carpenter
+ Liriano

I held onto Vasquez for strikeouts

I'd be pretty surprised if Carpenter outperforms Pelfrey down the stretch...

^Vasquez just for K's

I thought Pelfrey had been overperforming...he's been great the last month and a half or so but I didn't think it would continue...and in his first 2 starts Carpenter has looked good...not 2005 Cy Young good, but damn good
