I would hardly call this current sack of shit that we call a football team "athletes"
10/6/2007 8:02:12 PM
lets see, we need a new center, a qb with a brain, a punter, an entire o-line, and apparently running backs made of steel.[Edited on October 6, 2007 at 8:05 PM. Reason : ]

I hope Daniel Evans never takes another snap. He sucks ass. Burke may be worse, but I would rather see someone who can throw the ball over 20 yards and not look like a deer in headlights when getting rushed.
10/6/2007 8:02:51 PM
We have to shotgun it because our QB would get planted as soon as he got the ball.
10/6/2007 8:03:00 PM
Is it statistically possible for Burke to be worse than Evans and Beck? Unless he's going to throw 6-8 interceptions a game, we might as well give him a shot because he's no worse.
10/6/2007 8:05:15 PM
we won't lose next week, guaranteed
10/6/2007 8:06:05 PM
ha, OPEN is going to kick our ass. They're favored by 80

Our schedule gets much easier from here ontake the bye week, settle down, give Burke some repsmaybe we can win one or two

as bad as this season is. we need to stick by TOB and let him recruit better talent.
10/6/2007 8:30:25 PM
10/6/2007 8:44:48 PM
just wait till TOB recruits guys who can play o-line, then the pretty much any qb we have in will look great cause they will have time to throw, and our running backs will have gaps to run in. im almost positive rivers would look like shit with the o-line weve been having for the past several years

bullshit. BC hasn't played anybody worth a shit. We'll find out what they're made of in the next couple weeks. They'll choke down the stretch.[Edited on October 6, 2007 at 10:01 PM. Reason : ]

ESPN Bottom 10, here we come!

lol bottom 10"Way to suck NC State, as your 9-knee-surgery losers suffer yet another injury to running back Andre Brown and are forced to start 3rd-stringer Jamelle Eugene. Also plz to learn how to block/pass/win."lol but seriously, i think half of what got us here is the injuries, and the other half is just not being great to begin with.

I think that after a couple of years Tom O'Brien will have us looking good, but as far as UNC is concerned, I think that Davis is probably still ranked low because the top guys in the country usually wait to commit. Unfortunately, I think that Davis will be pulling a top five class. I hate it, but they have more money than us, they have more leeway with the rules, they have a longer history, etc.I sometimes wish that a nuclear weapon would get dropped on the conceit that is UNC-CH, but even a terrorist knows that school is worse for the USA by existing than by being destroyed.[Edited on October 6, 2007 at 10:29 PM. Oh I don't know, perhaps b/c TOB has a proven track record, we have great facilities, playing time, we have a great recruiting class, and perhaps those players want to play along side other good players. Andrew Wallace said that one of the factors that made him confident in his decision was b/c we already had a great class along with liking State from the get go. Look at some of the top ranked players that go to USC and then sit on the bench for most of the time. Kids want to get their name out there so that they can get some press and recognition which gives them a better shot at getting drafted. If you go to a BCS school and do well you will get a lot of press no matter what. If you go to a BCS school and light it up early, that means you get more press coverage over the minimum three years that you have to stay in school rather than sitting on the bench behind another great player for two years then just getting press in your 3rd year. It is not that hard to understand why a Top 150 player would want to come play at State. We have a good coach and we have gotten our name out there in recent years for our ability in putting players in the NFL. NC State is now respected amongst the youth as a school that can get you to the NFL, and now we have a coach that will put top talent into more than just high draft picks and will have them winning too. Some of you are sounding like Tarhole fans.
10/6/2007 10:52:53 PM
this year is fucking meaningless, i refuse to care until tom gets his own players and has two to three years to coach those players. After that, if he can't duplicate what he did at BC, time to starting sucking Cowher's ballsack. If he doesn't come home, I hear Ocain might be available. /sarcasm or am i?
10/6/2007 11:46:16 PM
Having had some time to cool down, I think our defense actually looked a little better today. If you take away the Evans INT return and the bizarre roughing the punter/bullshit no-call interference on Carr TD sequence, they gave up 13 points. The DL actually got pressure on Lee. Baby steps, to be sure, but steps nonetheless.OL, QB, and injuries are going to continue to kill us, though.
10/7/2007 12:44:36 AM
i am going to go ahead and agree with you I thought that we had a chance till we got ROYALLY fucked on that roughing and pass interference bullshitI still don't think we win, but I bet its like 20-13 or something and we have a last second chance
10/7/2007 12:51:03 AM
^^I agree. Although I doubt we would have won regardless, those were several bad calls that put the game away when it still was within reach.

Rivals Top 250http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=1738If I counted correctly, there are 82 uncommitted players in Rivals Top 250. State currently has 3 in the Top 100. There are only 32 uncommitted players in the Top 100. Carolina doesn't have any players from even the Top 250 committed. So everyone saying Bitch Davis is going to outrecruit TOB lets wait and see, b/c so far he hasn't had much luck. I'm not giving him any credit for last years good class, besides Marvin Austin and convincing Greg Little to stay home instead of Notre Dame. Most of those guys were already shored up with Bunting and they probably realized they were getting an upgrade in coaching and stayed along. We'll see how Bitch Davis will do recruiting wise when he doesn't have a D-IA pipeline in his backyard.[Edited on October 7, 2007 at 10:33 AM. Reason : ]

I don't put much stock into the "star ratings" or any other ratings for recruits. That doesn't mean anything if they can't play at the college level. There have been too many times where I've read on this message board, as well as others, about how we have this awesome person coming in and they will turn the program around...then they get here and are a dud... There are some 1 and 2 star recruits who play better than 4 and 5s
10/7/2007 10:39:44 AM
Recruits look at more then what a team had done in the current season to decide if they want to go to a school. The logic of recruits only go to teams that are currently having good seasons makes no sense. Besides all this talk about recruiting classes is garbage anyway. Its about getting the right players, not just the ones that have a lot of stars next to their name.
10/7/2007 10:45:24 AM
Average star ratings are a good indicator of the quality of a team's recruiting class. The existence of outliers (2 stars who become good, 5 stars who suck) doesn't change this fact.
10/7/2007 10:47:00 AM
Well a Manny Lawson is an exception. We were able to develop him really well. If you don't develop players and have good coaching it doesn't matter how good your recruiting class is. See FSU basketball getting the #1 rated recruiting class and not even going to the NCAA Tournament during the entire time those players were there. You look at tOSU and USC and the reason why they were able to do so well in the past years is b/c besides getting elite talent they are also good at developing those outstanding players. They also have to be able to fit in your system, and those two schools are good at recognizing what players will fit into their system. This is one reason why they have been so dominant and ranked in the Top 10 every year for the last couple of years. You may be able to coach up a 2* undersized DB to play well, but that still won't make him any taller and be able to make a play on a jump ball when he's going up against a 6'4" WR that can jump out of the gym. The key to being successful recruiting wise is talent evaluation. You can't cross the Atlantic in a dingy.[Edited on October 7, 2007 at 10:52 AM. Reason : ]
