Yeah, from what I've read the Alien Blaster is also available any time you're outside... by random chance, it can fall out of the sky, an event which is signaled by a bright green flash in the air. (read this on the fallout wiki... seemed funny)
11/10/2008 12:57:28 AM
That's how I got the Firelance, the Alien Blaster is in a specific location.
11/10/2008 1:31:21 AM
Hmm... perhaps the Fallout wiki is not so trustworthy...Also, in watching someone play, I have learned that the "Mysterious Stranger" perk contains multiple levels of awesome.
11/10/2008 1:35:02 AM
yea i just added the perk yesterdaythe first time he popped out the music was awesome and he totally annihilated the talon merc i missed with my rifle
11/10/2008 10:58:50 AM
I just had a feeling it was a good Perk, so I picked it the first chance I got. I have had 26 MS visits! And its funny because he fires from the hip like a gangster you would see in a 50s movie ( I know the game is 50s themed).

escaping the vault as a babyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lifXN5rZLj4what were the testers smoking
11/10/2008 1:15:47 PM
i picked this up yesterdaythe vault thing is taking too long, i got boredshould i be picking up everything i can along the way?
11/10/2008 1:27:02 PM
^^ you sure no codes were used to do that?
11/10/2008 1:40:39 PM
11/10/2008 1:50:28 PM
they could have done the video in 3rd person view ... lame.
11/10/2008 2:17:15 PM
i found 20 alien bullets in the very west of the map, about 1/3 of the way down from the middle. they look like purple glow sticks. value is 10.
11/10/2008 2:18:35 PM
you mean the escape video? you cant use third person view while you are a babyand yea i don't know if he used any codes somehow i doubt it - he said he was working on a speed run
11/10/2008 2:18:42 PM
has anyone run across a side mission that involves Jamie (well-armed ghoul in the bowels of the Dunwich building - far SW part of the map)? You come across a ton of his recordings as you move through the building, and eventually find him worshipping a radioactive artifact, but there wasn't an option to talk to him (my speak skills are low), and he's surrounded by a number of feral ghouls...there's also a bobblehead as you leave DunwichI saved before I blew him away...any thoughts?
11/10/2008 7:41:23 PM
There should have been an option for Fawkes to enter the code at the end, since he's immune to the radiation. Then I could have lived. Lame.
11/10/2008 8:14:49 PM
btw, spoiler.

I was listening to a podcast, and they were complaining about the dog always getting in your way...are yall having that problem?
11/11/2008 8:25:44 AM
I eventually just left him at my house, he was a pain and can't wear cool armor.
11/11/2008 8:30:44 AM
I always say your name like David Cunt 2
11/11/2008 8:38:51 AM
i sent dogmeat to the vault to wait for mestupid dog got killed by a radscorpion less than a minute after i found him
11/11/2008 9:46:07 AM
dogmeat is annoying sometimes because of his sounds and he will get in your way and you kinda have to jump over himbut he is invaluable when enemies get close because usually they will attack him instead of youi've only had him die on me once even after he got torched i just reloaded - i was kinda sad
11/11/2008 10:32:56 AM
As I leveled up, poor ole Dogmeat became more and more trouble. To keep him alive, I'd have to tell him to stay put whenever I'd assault a nest of bad guys, then walk around trying to find him afterwards.
11/11/2008 3:06:04 PM
there's too many damn games to play and not enough time. FC2, FO3, Deadspace, and now COD5.
11/11/2008 3:50:02 PM
So you can't pickpocket the key from the bar owner in Megaton to get the money from his dresser on 360 can you? I found that there is a bug with some of the PC games where it is missing and I guess it's in the 360 as well =/
11/11/2008 4:51:06 PM
^^ don't bother with FC2I'm walls1441 and i approved this message.
11/11/2008 5:33:59 PM
Sorry if this has been mentioned before but has anyone pursued The Replicated Man quest?I've collected a bunch of the holotapes and have been accosted by that chick from the Railroad about it. Of course, I'm an evil bastard and want to bring him down.
11/11/2008 7:35:49 PM
^it was discussed on the previous page. i put it on hold for now (got the android part, but dont want to turn it in just yet). have to find mr. pinkerton now.
11/11/2008 8:34:59 PM
i plan on going juggernaut style the next play through - strength, melee, and unarmed combat...oh and evil as shit
11/12/2008 1:47:13 AM
^That's pretty much my current build. I wish that I had learned earlier that you can't max special categories past 10. I love insta-killing people with the sledgehammer. It's very satisfying. It's sad when it is harder for me to kill radscorpions than super-mutants, however.
11/12/2008 6:40:25 AM
I've finally got around to this game. After forcing myself to finish the garbage that is Far Cry 2 this game looks like it can do no wrong. I probably won't win any friends among fans of the game with this comment because I remember there being heated debate before release, but so far this game plays like Oblivion with guns (and VATS). The key bindings are even the same. Yes, I know that it's the same developer and all, but I seem to remember people being livid over the mere possibility of FO3 being a simple sci-fi Oblivion.Great game so far. I'm not that far into the game... maybe level 3 or so and the only questions that I have are 1) are the fire ants supposed to pwn me this bad? Oh, and some take one shot to kill - maybe because of stealth, others are mini-tanks that take two full clips (VATed even). Which brings me to 2) Stealth. I don't know what the max value for skills is, 100? but I assumed that I'd have a lot more success with a stealth rating of 40 at the beginning of the game. I get the drop on about 1 out of 20 ants. They always seem to find me out. Is the stealth broken, are ants extra special, is the max stat value 250, or what?[Edited on November 12, 2008 at 9:10 AM. Reason : --]
11/12/2008 9:09:02 AM
i don't bother fuckin sneakin around i stumbled upon that quest when i was around level 9 or so and just blasted them away with assault rifles and shotguns since i had built up my small gunsmake sure to use the nectar from the larger ants to increase fire resistanceoh yeah max is 100[Edited on November 12, 2008 at 10:01 AM. 11/12/2008 10:01:06 AM
Sounds like I got there too early. I first went to Megaton and decided to do a lot of side quests once that guy decided he'd charge me 300 for info in what I assume is the main quest. He gave me some quest to do, but the location isn't on my map... so I just wandered around talking to people and ended up with the ants at level 3. The main issue being running out of ammo all the time - as like I said, some of those ants took a couple of clips.[Edited on November 12, 2008 at 10:22 AM. Reason : -]
11/12/2008 10:16:19 AM
Sneak is really an all or nothing kind of skill. It's pretty much worthless until you get it up in the 70's and higher, but after that it's pretty sweet.
11/12/2008 12:22:14 PM
I'm 3 and I rock the hell out of raiders with my sneak and either hunter rifle or AK. Something like 75% of my shots are insta kills and the rest are two-shots. Seeing red a ways away and hitting VATS the second they come in sight while hidden is awesome. I went through and cleared the school near Megaton and didn't get hit once.[Edited on November 12, 2008 at 12:27 PM. Reason : .]

11/12/2008 1:35:08 PM
Yeah, I've gotten that bit and it's helped out a few times, but by and large they attack in packs of one. So I guess I should be trying to round a few up, then try to frenzy them.
11/12/2008 1:57:18 PM
Minigun and/or nades fucks their world world up. Mines are very potent against them since they run straight at you.[Edited on November 12, 2008 at 1:59 PM. Reason : /]
11/12/2008 1:58:31 PM
I did mines. Some of those ants took 3 or 4 mines each. Super-ants I guess.
11/12/2008 2:05:37 PM
Yeah, that's about right. they were easy to me, I beat that section on my first try without dying, mainly the minigun did the work.
11/12/2008 2:07:38 PM
They aren't hard if you have bottlecap mines!
11/12/2008 2:18:43 PM
Oh that's just a waste. Soften then up with nades from afar or mines if they are close, then finish them off with the minigun.
11/12/2008 2:20:51 PM
did you fuck up the queen? i think i'm gonna go back and blast that bitch
11/12/2008 2:46:00 PM
I didn't. But now that you mentioned it, I will go back with a mininuke and fry that bitch.
11/12/2008 2:48:27 PM
^^^ I make 3 bottlecap mines per recipe, and the ingredients aren't particularly rare. I have probably 35 of them.I only used them for the nest guardians and a couple of the soldiers/warriors.[Edited on November 12, 2008 at 2:49 PM. Reason : ]
11/12/2008 2:48:58 PM
I haven't even found the schematics for the Bottle cap mine.
11/12/2008 2:50:43 PM
Locations of bottlecap mine schematics *mild Spoilers * * A quest reward from Moira in Megaton after the Minefield quest * A Nuka-Cola soda shop East of Girdershade. * Jacko's Pop & Gas Stop, northwest of Tenpenny Towers. * Dashwood's safe, in Tenpenny Tower. * The child vendor in Little Lamplight. 3 schematics gives you the "max," which is 3 at a time[Edited on November 12, 2008 at 3:29 PM. wow what a localization nightmarei forgot fat man was the name of the bombs they dropped in WWII - so they had to change the name of the weapon[Edited on November 12, 2008 at 4:02 PM. Reason : .]
11/12/2008 3:33:56 PM
speaking of nukesi just got the unique Fat Man weapon - Experimental MIRV. This thing is just straight retarded. It fires 8 mini-nukes at oncefor those who want it, it takes a while to get...you need to explore a whole helluva lot of the world. i looked it up on wiki afterward and was surprised I had done what was needed to get done. then again, i've explored over 140 locations thus far
