Uh, no? The clock doesn't start till its touched. Don't you people remember seeing guards letting the ball roll along the floor till near half court before picking it up to save time?

this is correct, which is why you see several plays where the ball is rolled inbound a teams don't pick it up until half court.

there is no way a full second went by between the ball hitting his hand and going out of bounds

I was actually giving the refs a little credit for a well called game untill the last five seconds of this game. They did the one thing you cannot do as an official.

They decided the game.

Memphis is a good team. They can beat A&M without help, but how sad is it that every fan knows that without a phantom foul and an unexplainable clock ruling you go home.

Seems like this happens more and more each year in the tourney. Great games decides in the final seconds not by the players, but the refs. Sucks for the fans.

THEY GOT IT RIGHT

No one is debating whether the Memphis guy touched the ball, he would have had to for A&M to get it back. But a full second didn't roll of that clock when it was touched and went out of bounds.

God damn, some of you guys are clueless. Saddamizer is right on point. The ball did not touch the out of bounds line right off of Dozier's hand. It touched in bounds then bounced high into the air until it landed out of bounds on the scorer's table.

Karl Hess is proving how terrible ACC refs are, he may be worse than Ted Valentine. Personally I was more offended by Bill Raftery's spastic yelling but thats nothing new

The foul SHOULD have been a no-call. You do NOT call that kind of foul with 3 seconds to go.

As for the clock, I officiate Varsity basketball, it starts when it is touched, can't believe some of you dumbasses don't know that. The ball looked to me like it hit the floor ON THE LINE which should have been little or no time run off the clock. Just my two cents though.

Fuck Karl Hess.

OK, give them the clock ruling.

SOMEONE EXPLAINE HOW YOU CALL THAT FOUL ON A&M WITH THREE SECONDS LEFT.

There was less contact there than in many ocassions throughout the game, half, last four minutes, whatever standard you want to use.

Hell, if A&M wins it hurts my brackets. I just hate to see kids play hard and lose on calls and calls only.

From general observation, in scrambles for the ball with the clock well under a minute, refs in general don't call fouls unless they are very hard, obvious fouls; not that ticky tack bullshit that they called with 3 seconds left. Probably was Karl Hess on that one too.........

^^ It was Hess. I knew it when he called it. Reminded me of some Duke ACC tourney calls.

[Edited on March 22, 2007 at 8:58 PM. Reason : too slow]

Editted again to ask^ You sure it wasn't Hess? I'm pretty sure the announcers said it was him. Not the first time I've been wrong.

That shit pisses me off, when the game is that close and on the line refs need to let them play, that was very clearly a case of the ref deciding the game with a very weak call.

The foul didn't matter.

Memphis would have just kept getting rebounds until they scored, while A&M continued standing around with their fingers in their rear-ends.

the ball hits his hand THEN bounces fairly high as it goes out of bounds.

Can someone tell me who this super annoying announcer is-- The one with the gravely voice who sounds like a fucking dog stuck in a food processor. I hear him all the time, and every time I cringe when he talks. He's way worse than Vitale!
