Warhawk is pretty fun. I only got to play it for about 20 minutes, but it seems like its going to be a lot of fun. Definitely need to get a better feel for flying and all that. The online interface is really good though.
5/25/2007 8:49:58 AM
I just read that Warhawk has split screen online. That is really awesome, especially since you can join your split screen friend into the game in the middle of it with no lag or framerate slowdown. Warhawk sounds so awesome it is killing me to not be able to play. http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20070525/fs.htmNew Folklore Screens and InformationThere were a bunch of new Folklore screenshots released. The game is coming out in Japan on June 7 and they are shooting for a September/October NA release. Japan will be getting a demo of the game on June 1 supposedly so that should be worth checking out. The game looks really good if you are into Japanese type RPGs. You will have the ability to create and share your own dungeons.[Edited on May 25, 2007 at 3:45 PM. Reason : ,]

i got nero mediahome working with my ps3 but playback is too fast
5/25/2007 10:17:08 PM
that sucks, mine works perfectly with nero mediahome, it even transcodes xvid files perfectly.
5/26/2007 10:59:22 AM
OK guys post some Warhawk impressions. It is my most anticipated game. I really hope it is good.
5/26/2007 11:05:26 AM
so far it's pretty cool. I haven't had much time to play it, maybe 5-10 minutes. The graphics are pretty nice and the interface is good, no problems matching up + finding a server quickly. My gf is going out of town today, so I get a chance for a marathon. I'll report back.
5/26/2007 11:12:23 AM
is there a way to turn off people talking?i dont want to hear those faggot kids
5/26/2007 2:54:45 PM
start-->left to 'sound'-->down to voice-->triangle to mute allThis isn't really my 'type' of game, but I've been having a blast with it. I'm really impressed with the physics (wasn't expecting much) and the animations for the characters. They've really put a lot into it and it shows. The game is fun whether you're on foot, in a land vehicle (they have jeeps +tanks), in a turret/fixed machine gun, or in a Warhawk. I was really only expecting them to focus on the aerial battles. Piloting a warhawk is awesome, the controls are very well mapped out and you can fly one like a pro in almost no time. They have a nice variety of weapons, both on land and in air. All your typical modes are in there (deathmatch, capture the flag, etc). All in all, it's a really fun game. The beta is really unstable and crashed my PS3 constantly. It's really kind of annoying, and usually it would completely turn me off to the game. But, I find myself rebooting and logging back on, so that says something about the game.
5/27/2007 12:00:30 PM
yeah, i'm tired of it freezing on me
5/27/2007 3:55:26 PM
Supposedly if you turn off media connect under network options it resolves the freezing problems. I don't know if this actually works or not though.
5/27/2007 6:12:11 PM
it doesn't
5/28/2007 3:37:48 PM
^^ Apparently doing that allows you to connect to the games better. Like a lot of the larger games won't allow you to connect for some reason, and I think this helps fix that. Doesn't do anything for the freezing. The game really is fun, but its just damn annoying how it freezes the system so badly. Sucks that there is no way to just get back to the xmb or something, I hate torturing my system with the constant reboots.Game is super fun though, and will probably be even better when they update it some. I constantly get blown up though all the time, so I'm not very good at it. I never played much battlefield. I will definitely buy this game when it comes out though.man, turning up the surround sound when playing this game is just awesome. hearing jets fly by, exploding over your head, gun fire, tanks, engines... so freaking bad ass.

If any of you guys have a PSP, the 3.5 update came out today that allows you to connect to your PS3 via the internet. Cool feature, except that your PS3 has to be in "remote play" to get connected. That would be fine except that I leave my PS3 folding all day long. Hopefully they'll figure out a fix for that in the future.
5/31/2007 8:33:38 PM
do you have to have an hd monitor for that street fighter 2 pic to show up in hi def?
5/31/2007 9:00:35 PM
^ Most computer monitors are HD or better. Common man!
5/31/2007 10:19:21 PM
i think he was underhandedly expressing his disappointment with the quality of the character.I'm really looking forward to this new and improved street fighter, looks spiffy.I can't wait until 3.50 OE gets released so I can play around with this remote play stuff.

I'm having fun playing through the first year of my career as a shortstop for the Red Sox on MLB07: The Show. Been called up twice now and am batting over .400 in 20 or so games.BUT - what the fuck is wrong with the computer? It traded Big Papi and a SP in AAA for some no-name catcher and an OF!Oh well - I'm just trying to play well enough to start making more bank (nothing like playing in the bigs for $42k a year!)

So the demo to Folklore was just released on the Japan PSN. I am downloading it right now but the download is taking forever because everyone in the US just woke up and is downloading it as well.http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2007/06/01/new-folklore-demo-is-great-let-us-tell-you-why/http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/rpg/monstercarnival/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-35515030&pid=930085
6/1/2007 11:38:52 AM
Yeah, heard that this was up. I haven't set up account, but let us know how it is when you get it.
6/1/2007 2:15:16 PM
It is pretty cool but the demo is really short and you can't understand any of the story since there is no English which is part of the fun of RPGs. Capturing and using the creatures looks like it could be pretty fun though and you do get to fight one boss. The graphics look good and the map design has a really nice color scheme.Making a Japan account is worth it because you can grab this game and also the demo of Hot Shots Golf 5 which is a lot of fun. They also have a lot of good HD trailers that we don't have like some for Devil May Cry 4.[Edited on June 1, 2007 at 3:02 PM. Reason : .]

is there any extra content/features for motostorm yet? i want split screen multiplayer.
6/6/2007 1:22:55 PM
There is supposed to be a pretty big online patch to be added soon, with a new map or something, but I don't think its happened yet. I don't think there is going to be a split screen implemented ever unfortunately.
6/6/2007 3:03:36 PM
Nothing big being released today other than a trailer for Heavenly Sword. Summer time gaming drought.Motorstorm update is next week, but I don't think it includes split screen at all.

anyone know how many PPD ps3's get on folding? The cards are old in a ps3 i think. Somewhere i read they're comparible to a 7800gtx, no wonder they won't be able to run the new DX10 games coming out in the fall, they're too slow. They need to invent upgradable consoles so they don't go out of date so fast. Then i might buy one.I think i found out they get around 900ppd compared to a 1700-1900 ppd on a core 2 duo pc, and i was wondering because ps3's have 8 cores, so i'd assume they'd be pretty good at folding, but maybe the ps3 folding only utilizes a few.[Edited on June 8, 2007 at 9:48 AM. holy jesus christ you're a fucking moron

I don't have too much experience with PS3s but i do read alot about upcoming games, and i they keep mentioning incompatibilities with the ps3 and xbox360, and how the systems can't handle the newer games. I have nothing against the ps3, but i do believe pc's will always have the upper hand in gaming. I think it's interesting how the next generation consoles finally figured out HD, and multiplayer (live). HD PC gaming, and internet play has been around since the 90's not to mention that many console games are ideas or engines from pc games. For example the most popular game on xbox live is gears of war (overtook halo 2 in a matter of months) and it's based off the unreal 3 engine for unlreal tournament 2007 (pc series). They originially released gears of war as a demo for showing off unreal 07, and so many people liked it they turned it into a console game.Anyway I'd rather be playing the upcoming Crysis or Half-life 2, or Oblivion at 1900 by 1220p. It's just personal preference. I wouldn't mind having a ps3 i just haven't had the time to invest in both.I also use a wireless x360 controller, and 2 wireless logitech controllers (ps2/3 style). So i have the option for mouse/keyboard or 2 styles of controller whenever i want. And yes there are plenty of problems, alot more with gaming on a pc. You have to deal with various shit, and driver issues, and compatibility. The great thing about consoles is they usually work 99 percent of the time, and they're very reliable, and for that i respect them. Right now i only have money to put into my computer and i enjoy problem solving and working things out. I usually have very little trouble with games, and it's worth it to me, and it's stupid but sometimes i enjoy playing the game a little bit more just because i figured out how to run it perfectly and at the fps i want. For most people it's a lot easier to buy a console, and it would be just stupid for them to try to run the latest games on older pc's with crappy lcds. But there's a certain population who enjoy having a newer computer and using that instead of a console, and again it's just personal preference.[Edited on June 8, 2007 at 1:51 PM. Reason : ..]

The last time someone tried to make a console that was actually a PC, this happened. http://arstechnica.com/articles/culture/true-infinium-stories-the-73-million-phantom.ars?bubSo lets just say each have things that they are better at doing than the other and be done with it. With that said, when is a good PS3 game going to come out?[Edited on June 8, 2007 at 3:37 PM. Reason : :]

Actually the ps3 has a modded G70 chip for the gpu which compares to an 7800 series, but the sad thing is aside from the fact that gpu is so old, the ps3 has only 256 megs of ram, and i know it's a very different comparison because it's a dedicated machine running at a 1:1 ratio with the 3.2 cpu, but having that little memory gives developers little space to develope newer games for the ps3, and they haven't even started to develop to fully optimize for all the cores in the ps3, they're already outdated cpus, once developers figure out how to use them all, they're be even more outdated. Not to mention FEAR has so many issues on the ps3 because the gpu/ram is dying to do everything it does easily on a newer pc. ^I completely agree, oblivion was great on pc, i've heard it's addicting on ps3 too. But i'm sure that's been mentioned on this thread before.[Edited on June 8, 2007 at 3:41 PM. Reason : .]

I did quit, my original question was how many ppd you guys get on ps3 with folding, which is a valid question for this board. No one answered it yet, so i was getting off topic.
6/11/2007 9:26:13 AM
that new MGS4 trailer looks pretty damn awesome. Can't wait to get my hands on that one.
6/11/2007 9:44:23 AM
6/11/2007 10:29:20 AM
Yeah but it only gets 600-800 ppd. They need to utilize all the cores. A core 2 duo will get almost 2000ppd.
6/11/2007 10:52:17 AM
Didn't you say you were going to quit trolling?
6/11/2007 4:45:27 PM
^^yeah honestly i'd think a ps3 if you fully utilized it would get like 3000 points...at least higher than a pc(2000)
6/11/2007 4:59:14 PM
^^haha i'm not trolling i have a ps3 and could talk about it. ^ and it might get that many points but the power pc base cpu (3.2GHZ), despite having many cores, it still is outdated compared to a core 2 duo cpu. A quad or even some dual core c2ds easily out perform the ps3. You've got to realize that the core technology in the ps3 cpus are years outdated, and compared to the newer 65nm conroes they are slow and that's partly why sony put so many in the ps3, so they could take later advantage. Anywho developers haven't even been able to develop games that utilize all the cores. [Edited on June 11, 2007 at 8:00 PM. Reason : .]
