now hold on....either zombies can die/be killed...or they can't. And aren't zombies dead people which would indicate that they'll never die? Now based on my Resident Evil experience, they can be killed although it can take quite a bit of a fight...but then wouldn't they just come back again...? Before I can accurately draw up a plan, I need to know the logistics...so whoever is the resident expert, please inform.
1/23/2006 4:49:31 PM
in Night of the Living Dead, there are a few examples of zombies using tools, for example smashing a windshield with a rockhopefully that won't be the case.
1/23/2006 4:54:25 PM
mytwocents... once the brain of the zombie is destroyed, it is no longer capable of reanimation.
1/23/2006 4:57:10 PM
but I assume you mean it literally has to be mushed, cause otherwise, some sort of neuro disease could be an effective killer...no?
1/23/2006 5:08:06 PM
so i had the best idea. all of the twwers will meet up at that army reserve place at the corner of western and dan allen/greek way. we'll comandeer all the vehicles/guns and kill zombies, we can even grab a news van and helicopter and assign some twwers to be the news people for the war! ok someone post the tww van and helicopter now[Edited on January 23, 2006 at 5:13 PM. mytwocents, if you are going with Resident Evil rules, the only true way to kill a zombie is to either sever the rest of the body from the brain or to incinerate it. That is based off of the other RE games. The "zombies" in Resident Evil 4 weren't really zombies in the undead sense... they were parasites using the human bodies. This reminds me that I need to stock up on my ink ribbons and green herbs
1/23/2006 5:14:47 PM
it has to either be "mushed" or shot or blended or physically torn apart. there is debate on how quickly the brain will physically break down due to decomposition.and really the most primitive parts of the brain are working anyhow, so most neuro diseases wouldn't affect it since they usually disrupt higher brain funtions.
1/23/2006 5:15:17 PM
in the original Dawn of the Dead, a guy successfully killed a zombie with a screwdriver through the ear
1/23/2006 5:16:58 PM
it probably did enough damage to the brain to cause reanimation to cease.
1/23/2006 5:17:55 PM
The newscaster also says that blunt trauma to the head will kill a zombie. I think the general consensus is that if you hit the zombies brain in the right area with the right amount of force, you will "kill" it or at least get it to the point where it won't be able to attack you.
1/23/2006 5:18:59 PM
Wraith...well yes, not only would you have to blow their heads off, but sometimes, the alien looking thing would emerge out of the bloody stump so you'd have to blow ITS brain off too. But I was just wondering if the zombies we are speaking about invading us (or you, in Raleigh) would be like the zombies in RE 4. And I don't know what ink ribbons you're talking about but I do know bouts the green herbs...of course I'd concentrate more on combining the green, yellow and red ones btw, I've never played any of the other RE's so I'm assuming that ink ribbon thing is from one of those? But ok, back to the zombies. Here's what we should think about doing. What we need is a perimeter that has lasers surrounding it so that an zombie who tries to get through will get their body (most importantly their head) sliced off. But if that's not a viable option, then we need to practice our marksmen skills and find a place like bigman or smath suggested, with a wide open area so that we could pick off their heads from a long distance away. cause we obviously are in a lot more danger the closer they are and if we can thin the groups of them coming at us, then we'll have a better chance of being able to fight them once they get within arm distance (should it come to that)
1/23/2006 5:25:31 PM
yea, they did that in 28 days later
1/23/2006 5:28:09 PM
^^the thing is, if we try to fight them, we are bound to lose.what we need to do is build barricades so that they can't get through them.... for example, seal off the stairwells and elevators on a multistory building, and then just go to a higher level. if we restrict their access to the stairs, there would be no way for them to reach us.[Edited on January 23, 2006 at 5:30 PM. ^^^ you could plant land mines around your base too, that'd mess em up pretty bad, i think they did that in 28 days later too[Edited on January 23, 2006 at 5:31 PM. Reason : .]
1/23/2006 5:31:29 PM
my preferred mode of transportation during a zombie invasion. i could land it and sit pretty in the cockpit and the zombies would never even touch me.
1/23/2006 5:32:02 PM
ok people.listen.landmines, gunships, "lasers" etc would all be GREAT things to have during a zombie attack. the fact of the matter is though, you are NOT going to be able to get these things unless you happen to be flying a helicopter for the military at the time, etc.for the average person, that just isn't an option, and shouldn't be considered when planning for survival.
1/23/2006 5:34:37 PM
^ if we did like i said i'm sure they have some landmines at the reserve viable option
1/23/2006 5:35:29 PM
i'd be allright with a shovel
1/23/2006 5:36:05 PM
And given the sheer number of zombies you would run out of ammo pretty quickly if you were in a helicopter. Especially since it will attrack their attention.
1/23/2006 5:36:23 PM
i was basing my previous statement during the vietnam era and by "i" i mean "my dad"^weapons would be used extremely sparringly. no need to rip apart zombies with a 50 cal and grenade launcher unless completely necessary[Edited on January 23, 2006 at 5:38 PM. Reason : ^]

^^^^locked away and inaccessable to the public. besides, isn't that more of a recruiting center than anything? i don't think they have many weapons, etc on site.[Edited on January 23, 2006 at 5:37 PM. Reason : ]
1/23/2006 5:36:43 PM
i dunno, they have some sweet trucks, hummers, etc that i would love to have. i'm sure they have some weapons there.[Edited on January 23, 2006 at 5:38 PM. Reason : i think there is a recruiting place, and a reserve place.]
1/23/2006 5:37:35 PM
weapons are useless when THOUSANDS of zombies are attacking. if you want to survive that ordeal, you need somewhere that is physically defendable without the use of guns, etc... you need physical barriers between you and the zombies.
1/23/2006 5:38:48 PM
can zombies swim?
1/23/2006 5:39:10 PM
not sure. i'd say not, but i don't know for sure.

here is a vagina. now you nerds know what one looks like!
1/23/2006 5:56:01 PM
if zombies can't swim, then I'd say get to some building that has an area around it that could be easily flooded.
1/23/2006 6:14:16 PM
dead people floatif they fall in they are just gonna float to the other side and crawl out
1/23/2006 6:19:32 PM
make the water flow away from the place
1/23/2006 6:21:50 PM
i would say a vehicile of sufficient mass and of sufficient speed (with appropriate frontal protection, ie: brush guard) would have no problem taking out many, many zombies. Then all you have to do is turn aroundrinse, repeat.
1/23/2006 6:48:02 PM
zombies are not the only concern. abandoned cars, debris, etc will also get in the way.not to mention that if the zombies are dense enough (many zombies, little space) the vehicle won't just plow through them.
1/23/2006 7:00:00 PM
exactly why we need to get in the air.
1/23/2006 7:03:40 PM
and do what exactly? fly around nonstop? we need to get to a tall building so that we can secure the bottom floor from zombies, and one that we can block the stairwells as needed.
