Well it's only $9 for those 3 months, I think I might do it to see if there is interest. Hell if just a couple of us used it it would be worth the money IMO. Then if it gets a lot of traffic we can step it up to a 20 man server.I have recently fallen in love with the Assault loadout too. I am getting sick with the M203, it's reminding me of my America's Army days on Pipeline...nading the vent from the assualt spawn. I was picking guys off of rooftops last night on Sharqi from what had to have been well over 100m away. The M-16 is very accurate too, I just wish there was a way to have the gun default to semi-auto instead of 3 shot burst.

I decided to do a new post to share this info. I went ahead and registered us a Vent server. Please use it since it is paid for through Nov 8, 2005. Please limit traffic to TWW users and close friends. I don't have a password on there right now but I can add one if we start getting a bunch of random people coming in (which I doubt will happen)Ventrilo Server InfoIP: 66.29.7.124Port: 3972Again, no password. If you guys want me to crank the codec up to a higher quality lemme know. Right now it's set on 22 Khz.

how does xFire work exactly? Does it just tell you where your friends are playing at?where does everyone play at?
8/8/2005 6:26:51 PM
^^^"failed to connect. check your network settings."im behind a router -- do i need to forward that port? whats wrong? i cant play on other servers fine.
8/8/2005 8:32:46 PM
after setting up ventrilo again, I can't assert how much I believe teamspeak is in every way superior.
8/8/2005 9:20:43 PM
I connected no problem. You need to forward the Ventrilo port to your PC through your router. I rented one in NJ, I was pinging about 30 on it earlier.^ And TS sucks man, I've used all the voice comm apps (Roger Wilco, Teamspeak, Teamsound, Ventrilo...) and Ventrilo is head and shoulders above the rest. Sound quality is far superior IMO.Anyway, it's already set up so use it!Oh and Xfire let's you chat, see where other's are playing, and join their server. I don't play in the same server all the time, just whatever one has slots open and pings well.
8/8/2005 10:34:53 PM
"connecting to acounts server...."forever....! i guess ill have to remove and install?
8/9/2005 4:53:10 PM
NO WONDERits says im already online.so, the program crashes when you try and log on a player thats already logged on. thats GREAT programming. now i need to figure out how to log off
8/9/2005 4:58:27 PM
ok. forwarded that port.still doesnt work
8/9/2005 5:10:32 PM
i get my video card in a few days so i can play bf2 hopefully i will like it as much as i like sof2anyone know how long regular shipping from tiger direct takes?
8/9/2005 8:41:34 PM
Would I be able to just link to that IP through the regular Battlefield 2 online server display or will I have to download Xfire to get in?
8/9/2005 9:17:08 PM
That IP is for Ventrilo, not a BF2 server.
8/9/2005 10:16:59 PM
^huh?is it just me, or if someone has a ping of 80 and someone else ping of 30, the 30 have a major advantage?
8/10/2005 3:28:20 PM
I thought Wraith was asking he could connect directly to the IP I posted through BF2. I was saying that it was the Ventrilo server IP, not a BF2 server IP.Josh do a search on the Ventrilo website for the port you need to open up. It is different than the port listed in my post above. The port for the post above is the inbound port on the Ventrilo server. Ventrilo uses a default outbound port on your PC that is a different number.
8/10/2005 3:56:12 PM
I think he's been trying to connect to the ventrilo server with BF2heh
8/10/2005 5:23:07 PM
^of course i havetheres an option that says "connect directly to an IP"
8/10/2005 8:53:22 PM
ventrilo is the VOIP software we use.google for it and download the client
8/10/2005 9:12:26 PM
I set up 2 channels on the Vent server - BF2 and CS:S. Please use the appropriate channel. The CS:S channel is for a half-assed clan I help run. I know some of TWW guys play CS:S too so you are free to use the channel as well. Just keep it civil if other people are in there you don't know. There is a possiblity that I may password the CS:S channel in the future if my other clan gets organized enough to play matches.
8/10/2005 9:18:39 PM
http://www.ventrilo.comconnect to IP just lets you specify the server you want in game by IPall Ventrilo info will be used in the program (assume it is downloadable normally from their link above)
8/10/2005 11:36:43 PM
anyone else randomly having problems with BF2 lately? like the game crashing to desktop when it tries to connect to a server. Or now that i've reinstalled everything (OS and BF2) it lags like crazy even with settings at medium and low.
8/11/2005 3:46:13 AM
^ http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.htmlafter reading this, i about doubled my performance, and halved my load times.no more crashes. [Edited on August 11, 2005 at 7:43 AM. Reason : -]
8/11/2005 7:43:47 AM
exactly which sections helped you improve your performance? Most of the stuff I saw was just general info on performance settings.
8/11/2005 12:59:24 PM
well, i had T1 ticked not cable 256 or better....for example. the entire thing was helpful. its not that long.
8/11/2005 1:25:56 PM
when i try to connect to the IP addy posted above i get the same connection error. i tried to forward the port in my router's settings but it didnt work. what else can i do?
8/11/2005 6:11:09 PM
Damn. I upgraded my video card from a 9600XT to an X700 and it looks so much better.
8/11/2005 6:31:24 PM
GUYSTHE IP POSTED ABOVE IS NOT A BATTLEFIELD 2 SERVER. It is a VENTRILO server. If you are having connection issues, go to the ventrilo support pages and figure it out.
8/11/2005 6:49:38 PM
just signed up on xfire, name is darklordbri. i added some of u guys already.
8/11/2005 7:05:14 PM
alright wtf is goin on here...as soon as i start moving everytime i connect to a game, it freezes up for about 10-15 seconds and then says connection to the server as been lost. i'm using a wireless network in the house and i have a very good signal. what is goin on?
8/11/2005 8:42:32 PM
^Firewall maybe? I was actually having the same problem, but I was running Azureus at the same time as BF2. I closed Azureus and it worked fine. Check your ping while you are in game (hold down TAB and find your username) and see if it is ridiculously high.
8/12/2005 2:19:33 AM
I really wish they'd implement a favorites in the server browser thing
8/12/2005 2:20:42 AM
^Yeah that would be nice.
8/12/2005 2:23:51 AM
^^^make sure you close java too...sometimes that shit still runs in your background even if you close az.
8/12/2005 4:57:39 AM
guys - don't let the server connection and in-game browser ruin this game for you... it CAN easily ruin it for someone due to the headaches it can cause.. that is the largest flaw this game has IMO (the in game browser and the fact that it is the only one usable)any IPs and port numbers above were posted for connection to the Ventrilo server only - there is no method of using the game to connect to thisXFire can allow you to jump into a server someone else is using.. if the server is full.. you can at least hover your cursor over the person's name in XFire and see the name of the server they are playing in and then set that name in your search filter with the in-game browser and click on it over and over from in there until you get in
8/12/2005 11:20:21 AM
8/13/2005 12:25:32 PM
use the xfire server list - you can keep track of recent servers
8/13/2005 8:19:22 PM
my new obsession... helicopters!!just got my first gold just piloting a chopper (no not the blackhawk trick for tons of points)fun times
8/14/2005 9:43:29 PM
Yeah, I fucking love choppersBy the way, what are everyones' xfire name?Slipstreamed here.I get tired of playing anonymous people.
8/14/2005 10:38:17 PM
xfire? i can't seem to find xfire on the server list...i'd like to join. I play on ECGnetworks for now.

PEOPLE REALLY DO NEED TO READ AT LEAST THE LAST TWO PAGES OF THIS THREAD
8/15/2005 8:50:01 AM
I think all of us who have Xfire have posted our Xfire name at least once in this thread, just search back through it to find them.I agree Breezer, I like choppers much better than jets anyday. The only thing I hate is inept gunners, which was covered a couple pages ago. Man I had two of the most idiotic guys gunning the other day. They had no clue what was going on. I'd center stuff up for them to chaingun and they'd just sit there doing nothing. I would just rocket the target and move on. If you are going to hop in the gunner's seat, don't sit there in TV missle mode the whole time with your thumb up your ass.Oh, one more thing - camping the TV Tower chopper pad on Sharqi with the MEC chopper is not cool. Some moron was doing this the other day and it pissed me off. He would just sit there hovering around the building until the chopper spawned, then he would destroy it and whoever was trying to get in it. After that happened once I got the anti tank kit and took his ass out. The best part was hitting the driver dead on with the rocket and killing him, but not the chopper. It started spinning out of control until the gunner figured out what happened and switched seats. When he came to get me I put another rocket into the side and the chopper went down.
8/15/2005 10:15:19 AM
^ lol niceopsman (the other ops) and I have been spending a ton of time practicing flying the last couple of days.. it is nice because he nor I have to yell at the other to know what to do with the gunner seat. If he starts to hover and strafe around a camp then I know one of a few things A) he is helping line me up to use the missle on some armor in the camp B) he is letting me gun at some infantry he saw without jerking the thing around or C) he saw something I didn't.. so I start lookingit is also relatively easy to do like I was with Maugan in a jet and use the missle on a pass overhead we found out.. when you sorta dive bomb with the rockets you can line up a missle pretty easily as well... my favorite experience was when we went in at full speed unloading everything and we blew up 1 anti-air, 1 lav, and 1 tank and supposedly some infantry or ppl inside the vehicles because we got 8 kills really quick On the same note - I really like bombing in a jet... but until I get a nice joystick I'll stick with my stunt flying in a chopper oh.. my xfire is cipher95 I think...[Edited on August 15, 2005 at 11:43 AM. my xfire name = anthonygrundyi have a question.. I have a headset with a microphone that works great on all my sound applications and passed all the directx sound tests. I can hear VOIP from other guys in my squad perfectly but when I press B to talk to my squad or V for the commander nobody can hear me.ANY SUGGESTIONS? thanks
8/16/2005 2:53:06 PM
^It might sound stupid, but are you sure that you have those keys set up for voip? Try going to options -> controls and making sure.
8/16/2005 3:12:08 PM
great idea. darn, i was hoping that was the problem.. its v and b though.
8/16/2005 3:24:23 PM
make sure that your mic is the "input device" in the windows mixer and that you have it turned ALL THE WAY UP
8/16/2005 9:52:53 PM
got it working thanks guys. the problem was the input device. thanks Maugan.
