Omar, your safari looks incredible, mind if you PM me the details on which safari you took? I can't believe the shots you got, gorgeous!

Does anyone know if I can get a D40 to shoot at the continuous frame rate using the remote?I'm working on making a waterproof case for mine and I'm trying to figure out if I want to use the remote to trigger it on the shutter button. I can mount the remote so it would be really easier to use than the shutter button but I I don't think I can get the continuous with the remote.

^ i assume you don't have a remote already?i've got one that i've never used on my d40 before...i'll try it tomorrow and report back

Why the hell is there a $200 markup on the tokina 11-16 for canon?
7/13/2010 9:15:31 AM
Anyone wanna buy my d90? I'll throw in a lens or sb-600!
7/13/2010 1:51:43 PM
^ How much?
7/13/2010 4:26:09 PM

Brought the SLR out for the first time in a long time in an effort to start shooting actively again. Here's a couple of shots of my son at Bathtime last night.Figure the editing, I'm a little rusty and the color was not what I wanted.
7/13/2010 4:29:23 PM
Cuteibt noise and sensor dust.
7/13/2010 4:34:22 PM
More than likely. The Camera is an Original Canon 1D and probably 7 years old, the lens is about 10 and I don't think I've had either one cleaned since I got them.I use it for work sometimes, I may see if they will fork up the costs of getting it cleaned.

I guess JBaz doesn't want to sell his stuff yet. he hasn't responded to my post or PM asking about prices
7/14/2010 9:10:11 PM

^^He's not you, and he's actually a pretty experienced photographer, so he's probably safe.

Thanks Ronny, I'm glad someone thinks I know what I'm doing.I hope to start getting the camera out of the house eventually, but for now, he's more of my kid and wife.
7/18/2010 3:07:06 PM
I'm sure your kid and wife are really interested in those pictures
7/18/2010 4:23:32 PM
i like the spit up one
7/18/2010 4:29:53 PM
what program(s) do you guys use for editing? We just take pictures and post them, sometimes we'll crop them but thats about the extent of our touching up. I'm sure we have some pictures of our daughter that would look a lot better if we cleaned them up and edited them a little
7/18/2010 4:55:19 PM
CS4 if i do any editing. usually it's just to crop a picture or adjust a color level. i just try and get my pictures right straight out of camera so i'm not very good at using editing software. i think Joie uses photoscape for real simple edits also. she likes it for the filter effects, but it's nothing you'd use for really involved edits.

I find Gimp gets the job done if all you're trying to do is adjust the colors (gamma, saturation, contrast/brightness, ect).
7/18/2010 5:49:01 PM
I use Lightroom for 99% of my editing. It's usually nothing more than a crop or correcting white balance but it's great for saturation, B&W, and mild cleaning up as well. It's a workflow program though which is why I like it. It's much easier to go through a group of photos in it than in PS. It keeps me from having to use PS unless I want to do HDR or panorama or really serious editing work where I need to clone something out.

Lightroom 3 & CS5

Ronny; if he's so experienced why is he posting yellow ass pictures? Fix that white balance man.kthxbai
7/18/2010 11:06:54 PM
Really?
7/19/2010 12:04:35 AM
Na, I haven't found a way. I need to spend some time and actually work on the case now. Just using the shutter button will have to do.
7/19/2010 4:34:59 AM
7/19/2010 4:52:07 AM
i also use lightroom for just about all of the editing i do - the main reason i open up photoshop is to apply a noise filter
7/19/2010 8:24:47 AM
I too virtually only use lightroom.
7/19/2010 5:31:08 PM

Helped out with some painted bunting work last week.A little shot from one of my favorite places. As crooked as it looks, it's actually level.[Edited on July 19, 2010 at 5:45 PM. Reason : fuck you, flickr.]

Took my Canon 24-105mm L to Peace to have a broken filter removed. They clumsily removed filter with pliers, digging into the lens rim in the process, leaving two needle-nose size gouges. This is a $1000 lens that was damaged more after I had them work on it than before I brought it in - is there any recourse?
7/19/2010 7:37:30 PM
Well did you say anything to them when you picked it up?
7/19/2010 9:44:24 PM
Crack skulls.
7/19/2010 9:58:01 PM
I thought that's what filter wrenches were for?http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=filter+wrench&N=0&InitialSearch=yeswho removed the filter for you? and also, what ^ said.
7/19/2010 10:00:32 PM
The girlfriend picked it up for me. I did not see the damage until she brought it home.
7/19/2010 11:07:13 PM
You may want to give them a call.
