puff puff give, manI need some optimism too

It was a mild troll post but with a lot of truth to it. No need to over react.[Edited on February 5, 2014 at 5:39 PM. Reason : Or am I getting trolled?]

Too bad this next class won't have many openings. I bet the recruits will be breaking down the door to the Murphy Center to wear wolfpack red when we beat Syracuse.
2/5/2014 6:09:15 PM
something i didn't consider until reading about it in some article that i forget the premise of: doeren was just hired, which means that a recruit can feel reasonably comfortable that he'll be there the entire 4/5 years he is playing. you really only get that kind of security without winning big your first year or two... so i'm glad he's taking advantage of it.
2/5/2014 6:18:46 PM
Yeah, I think TOB's best recruiting class came after his first season too. The security thing goes a long way, but we've got to win a little next year or the recruiting pitch will get old quick. The good news about not winning any conference games is the bar is set VERY low. So if we win, say 3 ACC games this year, we can always tell recruits we're moving in the right direction. We've increased winning by 300%
2/5/2014 9:14:04 PM
that's not how percentages work
2/5/2014 9:25:23 PM
3/0=0

False

next year we'll beat fsu and louisville on a last second play and lose in the national championship game .[Edited on February 6, 2014 at 12:24 AM. Reason : with a loss to clemson]

2/6/2014 9:39:04 AM
Just win one fucking ACC game alright? Let's take it from there
2/6/2014 10:39:03 AM
I also would've accepted #DIV0
2/6/2014 11:50:59 AM
2/6/2014 3:42:43 PM
Obviously at this point Doeren can just tell recruits that last season was a fluke and due to TOB's bad recruiting, etc. And he can still point to his success at NIU and Jordan Lynch as selling points. As a couple years pass, this won't be the case and he'll have to actually sell the job he's doing at State.
2/6/2014 3:54:31 PM
Sounds like the staff has better relations with the NC schools than TOB did.
2/6/2014 3:58:15 PM
^^TOB's first full class was ranked as high if not higher than DD's class. We finished #29 in Scouts rankings in 2008 for TOB's first class. We finished 26th this year. The difference is that in 2008 we only signed 25 guys, this year we signed 31. Also, TOB brought in 5 4*'s with 2 in the Top 100. DD brought in 3 4*'s with 0 in the Top 100.[Edited on February 6, 2014 at 4:00 PM. Reason : sdf]
2/6/2014 3:59:28 PM
But TOB was old, so DD will succeed. This guy's got the stuff.
2/6/2014 4:17:53 PM
this clearly shows DD class was ranked higher than ANY of TOB'sI may be wrong but i didn't think TOB coached Philip. (this is sarcasm) [Edited on February 6, 2014 at 4:29 PM. Reason : ASS]
2/6/2014 4:29:11 PM
Life goes on. Coaches will change but State will remain the same. Conference title-less.Damn wish I was high.
2/6/2014 4:29:52 PM
Doeren can just tell recruits that he coaches for NC State, where Super Bowl Legend Russell Wilson went to school. And if they mention Wisconsin, he can point out that he used to coach there. Then mention that they can take fake classes that never show up and get free luxury cars and guns and weed, and we'll have our own Michael Jordan pipeline.
2/6/2014 4:37:17 PM
And if they say Michael Jordan is from UNC, he'll say that Jordan used to be an NC State fan as a kid.
2/6/2014 5:16:17 PM
We'll just point out that Michael Jordan played in NORTH CAROLINA, the STATE, at a UNIVERSITY.

Awesome cake someone made for Marcelias Sutton:
2/7/2014 2:23:57 AM
I love a good cake.
2/7/2014 6:10:18 AM
that is an impressive cake
2/7/2014 8:52:55 PM

2/7/2014 10:16:23 PM
So does the Thomas transfer open that scholarship for our signing day linebacker?
2/8/2014 9:34:02 AM
no

A Tarhole commit is feeling regretful already:

I'm guessing that "Chubb" is State signee Bradley Chubb, who's probably tweeting something the dude didn't even say just to mess with him.

^lol, I always love how packpride posts big news on their twitter account before posting it on their premium message board.
4/1/2014 3:45:24 PM
I'm really wondering how much time will elapse between our last ACC victory and our next ACC victory. But look at all those stars team captains!Lolz, naw, but seriously. Those pretty infographics on jet black poster paper are not only meaningless, they're also unimpressive. There's serious cause for concern with the state of this program.
4/1/2014 4:05:57 PM
That last part of graphic seems pretty misleading...
4/1/2014 4:05:59 PM
27 out of top 100 at their position
4/1/2014 4:09:21 PM
^ not to mention those numbers repeat. So the 3 players ranked in the top 10 are also included in the 27 in the top 100 category as well.Which should be obvious....but those bar graphs are meant to impress..[Edited on April 1, 2014 at 4:18 PM. Reason : ]

eh, i think they do the job that they were intended to do.
4/1/2014 4:20:19 PM
Con people into season tickets
4/1/2014 4:22:00 PM
^^^^ that makes it a little better, but shouldn't the denominator still be bigger? Surely those three services didn't come up with the same 100 players for each position ranking...and casting the net a little wider, it really it should be 27/(total # of players in top 100 of all positions), ya know, if honesty mattered.[Edited on April 1, 2014 at 4:30 PM. Reason : ^ yup]
4/1/2014 4:27:39 PM
It's saying that if you look at the top100 lists for each position on each of the recruiting services, we have 27 guys that appear on those lists.(if you look at the top10 lists for each position, we have 3 guys that appear on at least one of the recuriting services list.)[Edited on April 1, 2014 at 4:31 PM. and i'm guessing our ESPN class ranking must have been bad if they didn't include it[Edited on April 1, 2014 at 4:32 PM. Reason : yup, ranked #38]
4/1/2014 4:32:04 PM
^ they use whichever service works most favorably for their argument. If a player is ranked 101, 98, 105 respectively for the different services, they use the better ranking. They're juking the numbers, Baltimore PD style.
4/1/2014 4:32:49 PM
They're promoting a sports team. It's pretty common in sports, really.should they produce posters that say: "Hey, we may suck this season, but we can't do much worse than last year!"
4/1/2014 4:35:58 PM
Of course not. But if that poster is supposed to help me forget last season and somehow instil optimism for the future...well......The knock on Doeren is that he can't win a conference game. The excuse that his supporters trot out is, "hey, wait for his recruits!"His recruiting class isn't that impressive, if we're being honest. And the fact that we have to brag about"team captains" and players with high school playoff experience is evidence that we're stretching to find things to hang out hats on.
4/1/2014 4:45:21 PM
best recruiting class in a decade ain't bad at all. of course, i don't expect them to make a difference for several years.this year depends on jacoby.
4/1/2014 4:50:06 PM
Pinning the success of a team entirely on the performance of an untested transfer is a pretty damming indictment on the abilities of a coach, imho.
4/1/2014 5:01:07 PM
So I take it you don't think Doeren is a good coach. And you've offered your reasoning. Ok. Point taken.
