Does anyone know any Carolina alums that are pissed yet? This circus would seriously irritate me if it was going on at my school.

nice, gotta give Colin props for that, he's a huge UNC homer

^^^^ Have no idea what exactly happened down at FSU, I think they were getting automated multiple choice tests hand delivered before the test, and it was open and shut, and FSU reported it immediately, there wasn't really a lot of gray area. But this McAdoo paper was investigated way back in August and made it past the teacher, the honor court, Dick Baddour, Chancellor Thorp, the entire academic support team, the entire compliance department, and a whole host of others and the blatant plagiarism made it through undetected. UNC has already publicly claimed he made incorrect citations and that's it, that the work was his. It reeks of a coverup to have the entire institution miss this when 3 guys on packpride spent a collective 15 minutes researching the paper and found that virtually the entire paper was lifted. And oh yea, the professor gave him a passing grade on the paper originally.[Edited on July 8, 2011 at 5:30 PM. Reason : .]

^^^ what's so awesome about this article is that only 2 days ago, the IC tard horde was saying "finally someone gets it" in adoration of Colin. This is really going to be sick burn and butt hurt over on IC once they see this.
7/8/2011 5:32:23 PM
Poor bob in the comments just doesn't get it
7/8/2011 5:43:29 PM
^ yea he must be one of the deluded IC horde, because he is saying verbatim what they are in that thread
7/8/2011 6:15:38 PM
Holy shit those three articles have made my day.
7/8/2011 6:39:50 PM
so is carolina going to get a "lack of alumni lawyer control" as well?
7/8/2011 7:07:17 PM
GUYS GUYS GUYS....McAdoo didnt copy sources from the internet, his paper was so well-written, bits and pieces of it have been copied by various authors and used in their text.
7/8/2011 7:52:30 PM
And he discovered a time machine so he could have it written 100 years ago in the case of the one section! Damn that MacAdoo is one smart one to do all of that.
7/8/2011 8:07:12 PM
They should get slapped with LOAC Lack of academic control
7/8/2011 8:09:37 PM
shut down the whole damn universityand rescind all diplomas given out
7/8/2011 8:11:13 PM
It makes me wonder how the prof didn't see the word "mohammedanism" and wonder what was up with that...since it's a word that is no longer used and hasn't been used in 100 years. I would think that'd be a red flag for the prof.
7/8/2011 8:20:17 PM
^ he didnt read it, just figured it was the tutor who wrote it like she did for all the other football players
7/8/2011 8:21:32 PM
He didnt read it. He didnt want to be "that guy" to fail an athlete and make him ineligible
7/8/2011 8:24:30 PM
^ yea, just imagine all the brow-beating the tassle-loafer club would have given him (shudders).the new mental/moral low in the IC thread is that "if he directly copied 3-4 pages i say: 'so what?'" that's what i say
7/9/2011 12:57:43 AM
"yea. So what if the academic integrity of our "public ivy" school has gone down the shitter"

I love how IC people are now trying to change the meaning of plagiarism. According to them, he didn't plagiarize, he just "forgot to cite his sources."
7/9/2011 12:20:46 PM
Sounds like a black chick saying that lol
7/9/2011 12:22:02 PM
i like how it's 'okay' for MM to rely on a tutor to cite his sources for him. the douche is too lazy to google "how to cite sources" but heaven help you if you take away his football. the freakin sense of self-entitlement some people have just pisses me off.

Aaron, read my post. I know it's not a court of law, but these students have no opportunity to defend themselves against unduly harsh punishments and responsibility for infractions. I think the due process of letting McAdoo defend himself is an important one, even in a member institution like the NCAA. If UNC or the NCAA has thrown him under the bus, then he should be able to point out when and in what ways that was done. UNC gave him the opportunities he has in life, and UNC uses the NCAA to make money off it. The NCAA then gets to come in and completely take it away based on their own observations and the word of the university? The players have no choice but to talk to the NCAA without proper counsel? These things are not kosher, in my opinion. These kids aren't qualified to do much else but play football. It's pretty serious to take away a lot of potential money by not letting him play (and therefore affecting his chances to get into the NFL). I'm speaking specifically about procedure here, and in no way claim that McAdoo has even a remote chance of getting his eligibility returned, considering the damning evidence. I just agree that he should have the right to come out and say, "UNC put all this stuff on my back, and the NCAA declared me ineligible, but they shouldn't have because I didn't cheat and here's proof."but he did cheat, and there IS proof of that. So I'm going to eat popcorn and watch him get nailed to the wall.[Edited on July 9, 2011 at 4:34 PM. Reason : ]

where do you put a footnote when the whole paper is someone else's work?
7/9/2011 7:56:27 PM
is it possible that the footnotes take more room than the actual body of the paper?

7/11/2011 7:13:46 PM
no, I just think it's absurd when someone thinks it's sad that someone has to follow the rules
7/11/2011 8:43:59 PM
aaron, "following rules" != "having due process"Yes, there are rules he has to follow (and he broke the shit out of those)but if he was treated unfairly, there should be routes for him to save his good name, hopefully at the expense of UNC as an institution.I am talking about being treated fairly during the process of uncovering UNC's shit and punishing them for it. I agree he should have to follow the rules. But he should be able to sue the shit out of the NCAA and UNC if they threw him under the bus as a scapegoat.... Much like Blake is doing.
7/11/2011 9:33:16 PM
1. Blake isn't suing anyone 2. Clearly McAdoo wasn't treated unfairly, the NCAA caught his bullshit. Otherwise, if all he really had done was got help on his citations page (which I don't even see as cheating) I would agree. 3. He was part of two prongs of the investigation, taking benefits and committing academic fraud so I'm sure the combo had something to do with it.
7/11/2011 9:54:58 PM
Yeah its easy to see mcadoo as being railroaded if you think only about $100 in benefits, but combine it with the academic issues and what clearly appears to be a situation where he didn't come clean when asked and you have a recipe for a pounding. That said, if they had initially said 4-6 games for him I wouldn't have seen it as being out of line, but they can't go changing it now that he trying to get the lawyers involved or every other player in the world will make life miserable for them.
7/11/2011 10:02:22 PM
^and lying
7/11/2011 10:02:26 PM
7/11/2011 11:16:19 PM
Saying he had a choice in signing this "contract" with the NCAA is like someone offering you the choice of either having a shot at a multi-million dollar career in 3 years, or living the rest of your life working as a wing manager at McDonalds. Do you call that a choice? Why don't you step back a minute and think of him as a human being. Would you want to tell some poor ass college kid that all his dreams are crushed because he copy and pasted some shit off the internet and accepted $100 bucks worth of stuff?[Edited on July 11, 2011 at 11:37 PM. 7/11/2011 11:34:53 PM
^ i fault the system that taught his ass that he could cut corners. the big problem, as DalesDeadBug mentioned was they caught his ass lying. look, we all make mistakes, but some of them are costlier than others. Why wouldn't TA McClendon just follow the rules, stay in school etc.? Maurice Clarett? Most NFL teams also don't want guys who don't have some modicum of character, its a bad investment.
