Despite HTC's official response, it does look like they are looking to "fix" the multitasking. This update got pushed out to the international One X in Europe.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1655636

so is Verizon's best choice the Razr or Nexus? I've added several more Androids at work and it's starting to be a pain trying to answer questions while using an iPhone. I've got 6-7 contracts up for renewal next month so I'm probably going to use one to grab something new and sell the iPhone. Any advice? I really like that the Nexus is on ICS but I'm wondering if Google's purchase of Motorola is going to make it the better choice (plus I like the "strength" of it since I'm in my warehouse or on jobsites at least a few times a week.

^FWIW, I just picked up the Razr Maxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx last night. I really like it thus far, though I'm eager to see ICS on it. Great looking screen, supposedly tough build (rear and glass + sealed for water resistance), and well, I've just been a moto fan for a while (yes, blur isn't the greatest UI, but I like it better than others I've played with). The Nexus was pretty cool, though I think most of that was ICS and not necessarily the phone. The two aren't much different in size, though I don't think the Nexus is as "tough" as the razr, for whatever that's worth. My biggest draw was battery life (being able to make it at least 18+ hr on heavy use). I also still prefer the "permanent" keys and I prefer moto's 4 keys to samsung's 3 keys. The razr has a better camera (8 vs 5 MP), though I don't know how each processes pictures, etc. Removeable SD card was important to me as well.In the end you can't go wrong with either device. At this point people are either Moto or Samsung fans and stick to that; or they just really want one or the other here (I guess I'd fall into the Moto fan group). Yes, the Nexus has ICS already (coming sometime for the Maxx), but as I've read on here, there seem to be a few major bugs.

two questions about smart actions:1) Is there a way to prioritize actions such that conflicts are resolved?2) Having location based on wifi only is stupid; I don't have wifi at work (no personal devices allowed) so any smart actions tied to location are shot. wtf mane?
5/17/2012 12:47:20 PM
^ Give Tasker a shot. There are a few different methods in which it can find your location.
5/17/2012 1:04:38 PM
^^the bugs with ICS seem to be more dealing with Sense UI tweaking as noted by the link at the bottom of previous page

so what are people's thought on Apple blocking the release of the HTC One?http://androidcommunity.com/its-official-htc-evo-4g-lte-delayed-due-to-itc-investigation-20120516/
5/17/2012 2:48:42 PM
From what I understand HTC already removed the offending software/patent from their phones, so it's complete hogwash. That said, it probably won't help the already struggling HTC, days could be numbered.

Picking up a Transformer Prime on the way home. Woot.
5/17/2012 3:35:30 PM
^^ yeah, think the whole issue was with clicking on a number, address or whatever in a text/email and being presented with a list of things to do with that info which has apparently been removed on us-bound devices.

Much liked wdprice3 I recently upgraded to a RAZR Maxxxxx and I also am happy with it overall. Of course battery life is good and the UI is bearable. Hoping that ICS comes sooner than later due tosoak testing having been underway for it awhile while. Rooting is the only real customization I have done. Over all the Maxx is a damn good phone.

anyone hear of a setting for webpage animations on android? My weather app radar loop won't play and they're telling me to make sure webpage animations are turned on for the device. I've never heard/seen this and I doubt that this is the problem.

Why does my GNex on WiFi struggle using Google Chrome on many sites? Feels like the proc is underpowered
5/24/2012 9:27:05 AM
*shrug* I just use the stock browser with no problems. Why Chrome? Access to sync'd bookmarks?
5/24/2012 9:41:15 AM
^^been wondering that as well
5/24/2012 1:29:07 PM
^^^^maybe an app incompatibility with Razr Maxxxxxxxxxxxx?
5/24/2012 1:38:33 PM
one of the things that i love about chrome is the ability to access a tab that's on my laptop 4 hours later on my phone when I'm out and want to show someone something. it's extremely useful to me, and it's come in handy at least one 2 occasions.
5/26/2012 10:31:04 PM
agree with all this ^ ^^^ ^^^^^Chrome is soooo slow but I like the syncing stuff.

Qwerty. Yuck. To each their own, though. It's a good phone.
5/28/2012 9:24:39 PM
you can always use the touch screen keyboard if you wantthough if you're typing anything longer than 10 words, i dunno why you'd want to!
5/28/2012 9:37:54 PM
i like swype better than the physical keyboard for a phone.

quick advice- my mother-in-law is planning to go to the verizon store to get a new phone today (she's coming from a droid x). i tried to get her to just get one from amazon for a penny but she refuses and wants it now. her contract is out and she's looking to renew with verizon. i saw there were some concerns/reviews about the razr's durability (screen cracks, etc.) and she's not gentle to her phones. what else should i be aiming her towards? i haven't kept up with verizon phones- about to go deep into research, but i'd appreciate some opinions
5/29/2012 8:37:55 AM
anyone know of any apps that 'fake' your device into thinking you're on a mobile network even if you're not? specifically for the Android side of an HP Touchpad to be able to use apps that have certain permissions that require location and network datatried 'Fake GPS' which is cool, but still having issues with some apps and getting the "Could not connect to server. Please check our internet settings." message
5/29/2012 9:04:57 PM
Another Nexus replacement on the way. This time, the screen just all of sudden started flickering, then it ended up in a constant boot loop. Couldn't get out of it. Tech at the store had no idea. Sucks.

you have the worst luck with phones

^^^ Has anyone actually used the "Backup and Reset" feature of ICS?I found this on the Android site:
5/30/2012 11:01:01 AM
The data backup framework has been there for a while now (pre-ICS) and I still haven't seen any 3rd party app using it.]
5/30/2012 11:04:22 AM
I've got 2 facebook friends whose information won't sync with my contacts (Razr Maxx/GB). I have entries for each of them in gmail; however, nothing from facebook shows up in my contacts on my phone. Facebook is set to sync contacts; display options are correct (all other friends are syncing). Changing the display settings (groups and/or phone numbers only) has no effect. It's if they don't exist on facebook, when they do (I can see their profile within the FB app). I've already tried removing/adding account, reinstalling app, etc.Any ideas?[Edited on June 2, 2012 at 9:38 AM. Reason : .]

i wish droid 4 LTE was on att I want a physical keyboard so bad
6/2/2012 10:14:29 PM
Hmmm... If I can't get unlimited data with a new Razor Maxx on Verizon, then it looks like I have to consider other options. The top plan is 10GB a month. With a $10 charge for each 1GB over that. I just went through 1GB on my Droid X in the past 48 hours. I may have to settle for sprint and the HTC EVO 4G LTE[Edited on June 2, 2012 at 10:40 PM. Reason : sprint]
6/2/2012 10:18:44 PM
If you're already on the unlimited plan, you shouldn't have any problems keeping it when you upgrade. They're not getting rid of the grandfathered plans until later this year unless I missed something in the last few days.
6/3/2012 9:10:31 AM
^^ out of curiosity, what are you doing that you go through that much data? As food for thought, how much of that could be done using a wifi connection or even a different device altogether?
6/3/2012 10:30:29 AM
^^ Looking online only allows me to upgrade with a new plan. I will have to go into the store today and see if I can still keep my old unlimited plan.^ Wifi tethering (free/rooted) to my laptop is the main culprit for the consumption. I use it when at the pool, travelling, etc
6/3/2012 3:46:06 PM
Bought the Razr Maxx today... $50 (plus $30 for activation)
6/3/2012 7:06:13 PM
how did you get it for $50?
6/3/2012 8:43:11 PM
It is $199 with with 2 year renewal... Then I had $50 off for the upgrade bonus. Then the guy told me there was another upgrade/special going on that gave me another $100 off.My company actually gives me $200 to spend on a new phone every 2 years, so I was kind of annoyed to leave $120 on the table instead of spending it
