I like the fold, stacking off 500 BB's with KK on a scary board is pretty terrible.

I am not usually into tells, but there is NO WAY I lay that hand down after watching Booth play the hand. One of Cairo's biggest and best tells is how if you act strong, you are generally weak. Booth made it an absolute point to "act" strong, annoyingly so. (I guess you can play devil's advocate here and say that Booth knows Ivey would know this tell, so he was playing the reverse psychology game). If you have AA with someone raising in front of you like that, you just don't play it that way. Likewise with a set, I just don't see playing that way either. I know Phil would most likely destroy me in a heads-up game, but I still think he made a horrible play.
4/3/2007 9:37:26 PM
I could take him.Justin did a good job explaining the logic behind the fold on the previous page.
4/3/2007 10:07:13 PM
I understand the logic. If I were playing online and the same betting sequence happened, I probably fold. But since I got to see him and watch what he did, it's pretty much an instacall for me.

^^depending on my table image I will occasionally affect the opposite tells of what you are describing.for example, if i've been playing tight for whatever reason and there is a really aggressive guy who thinks he's the next matusow i will check raise him on a stone bluff, but before I raise I'll try to look really sad, bet really weakly then make sure after about 5 seconds I lean back in my chair. on the other hand if i have a big hand and i've been bullying the table, i'll put a raise in quickly and directly (not slamming it down bc that's too flamboyant), but making sure i appear strong. then i'll lean forward in my seat and try not to breathe.of course this only works if people don't really have you pegged as a tricky player, but my point is that you can't always rely on those tells when the players are actual players.
4/4/2007 8:06:37 AM
someone watched the fulltilt show on player tells
4/4/2007 9:03:40 AM
i dont knowto metrying to send out reverse tells is weaklet your game talk
4/4/2007 9:04:29 AM
yea man, i mean like i said....the situation has to be just right, not something i make a habit. in general i agree it's weak, but if you are in someone's head enough to know that they aren't giving you enough credit as a player, you can play it off on them, but i mean this is something i do maybe once every ten sessions.

wow so you opt for folding over calling there? I actually think I have to take a flop in this spot, i mean he could very obviously be raising with a pp, but i think the fact that the raise came from the co means in my head i'm almost expecting to get reraised from the blinds anyway. i think i might actually raise him back a little, with the idea of calling a shove by him, it seems to have a bit more deception than an all in shove. but i kind of think my stack's deep enough just to smooth call and see what the texture of the flop is like, but idk i'm just getting back into tourneys.pilgrim care to elaborate? i'm trying to work on my tourney game, i find that i can accumulate chips pretty easilty, but when it gets down to the point where people pretty much have 5 figure stacks i have trouble knowing when to push and when to pass. Seems like raising with a-k from co, then folding to sb rr (possible re-steal) is a little too weak though, no?

^sorry dude, didn't think the hand history would come out that shittybasically...i had 88, other guy has J5flop comes 8-6-J where 8 and 6 are clubshe raises $5, i reraise to $10, then he raises all-in for which I promptly callI was dominating at that point and ended up winning. This hand was really no big deal but it was the first big hand I've had in awhile (been away from poker for a month)[Edited on April 7, 2007 at 9:55 AM. 4/7/2007 9:55:30 AM
^ nh, but I HATE your min reraise to $10
4/7/2007 10:32:28 AM
I usually hate min raises too but I doubt he would have went all in without a weak raise like that. I should have bet a lot more (maybe raise to $15) seeing as there was a flush and straight draw on the board. I didn't think he had the flush draw at all and put him on a pair of J's.

Before I scrolled down to see the entire history I seriously thought you had typed it all out by hand.
4/7/2007 11:56:46 AM
I was curious how many hands you all put in in the last month? 6 months? yr? I was looking through my PT stats tryin to decide if i need to be trying to put in more hours to get in more hands. I put in 18k hands in March, 85k this yr so far, and almost 200k in the past 6 mos.
4/7/2007 2:15:04 PM
Wow, that's more than I play as a pro. I kinda took off Feb(~6k hands) and didn't play much in Jan either(~13k), so despite a decent Mar(~22k) I really don't have a ton of hands logged for '07(40,351 according to PT). I'd say I average between 15-20k hands/mo when I'm not feeling burnt out or lazy(those months are few and far betwen). Also I'd say 30-35% of my time is spent playing heads up, where I'm only playing 1 table instead of my normal 4 6-max tables. That does not help my bottom line for hands played, but it has been very lucrative. What stakes are you playing 85k hands at moe? How many tables? What's your BB/100? Do you get rakeback or is it all on stars? That is a lot of hands for a part time player(which I assume you are).
4/7/2007 4:11:15 PM
I've never played full time, but used to avg ~140 hand/hr when I was bonus whoring.
4/7/2007 4:16:18 PM
^^ i usually 8 table for 1-2hrs 4-5 days per week at 25nl and 50nl 6max. @ 25nl im at 4.13 BB/100 and 1.17 @50nl (only 30k hands here). I make more money in MTTs but never have more than a couple of hours to put in. And yes, just started playing at FT to get rakeback.[Edited on April 7, 2007 at 5:59 PM. Reason : rb]

Can I get a quick rundown of the "good" sites that can still be played in the US and the easiest way to transfer money quickly (ie now)?Ultimate Bet still looks good.
4/8/2007 3:12:18 AM
I play at UB almost exclusively. Stars, Full Tilt, and Bodog round out the 4 major sites still availible to the US.I have no idea how to deposit.
4/8/2007 3:23:07 AM
^Bodog is very easy to deposit in but you can only deposit money in increments of $100,$200, or $300.You have to use a service called NuCharge which they say is a "prepaid phone card." The great thing about it is that it's instantaneous and you can have money in your account in <5 minutes.
