The headset jack on my Droid 2 is messing up via hardware issues so I'm going for a warranty replacement. Great phone though...but I'll take a free replacement that I could sell/give to girlfriend and still be able to upgrade to the latest and greatest.Any idea what they're giving out for warranties these days?
5/6/2012 12:39:26 PM
Don't you know someone that could tell you?

I got this app the other day when it was free, and its a good game. http://www.amazon.com/touchGrove-LLC-LED-Football/dp/B007Q3GY1S/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=mobile-apps&ie=UTF8&qid=1336409179&sr=1-1-spell

I got it too... but my SD card stopped being recognized and now it is stuck permanently being downloaded Droid X, I need a new one...
5/7/2012 1:03:44 PM
^I'll sell you mine
5/7/2012 1:05:36 PM
Explain to me how buying a used phone works... If I buy someone's old Droid X, then do I just need to pay Verizon to activate it? Or do I have to renew my contract, pay a penalty, etc... I am not eligible for an upgrade until Sept.
5/7/2012 1:50:26 PM
Just call them tell them you want to activate a phone and give them the EIN (might needed to be cleared in some cases) and it should be up an running in a matter of minutes, and they usually do this for free if its with an existing line. [Edited on May 7, 2012 at 1:53 PM. Reason : /]
5/7/2012 1:52:17 PM
^you shouldn't be charged at all. if they try to charge you, tell them fuck you very much, then call back and get someone else.[Edited on May 7, 2012 at 1:59 PM. Reason : .]
5/7/2012 1:59:01 PM
Easiest way is to have the person meet you at the Verizon store. If there isn't one around, have the person give you the phone's ESN/MEID and call Verizon CS to make sure it's unattached to a line and not lost/stolen, etc BEFORE purchasing the phone. For the non-LTE phones, all you need to do is dial *228 on the new device, choose option 1 and enter your phone number you want to activate.
5/7/2012 1:59:57 PM
^don't you still have to contact vzw to have them change your esn? or were you trying to imply that ? I get calling to check for theft/active line.[Edited on May 7, 2012 at 2:02 PM. Reason : .]
5/7/2012 2:00:55 PM
Not that I'm aware of. As long as the phone is inactive you should just be able to do *228. You can also activate a device online through My Verizon.
5/7/2012 2:02:32 PM
well damn. all these years of calling to activate a device have been wasted. I knew you could activate (read: reactivate) a phone via *228, but I thought for a new device/new ESN you had to call.[Edited on May 7, 2012 at 2:05 PM. Reason : .]

so the new, albeit hideous, EVO LTE is on its way to Sprint on May 18th...any takers? I'm debating between this or the samsung GSIII, any insight on touch wiz for samsung or sense for HTC? Don't even know for sure if/when gsIII will come to sprint...
5/9/2012 6:26:45 PM
I wish motorola had more devices on Sprint. The quality of the Samsungs is ~ and htc is hit and miss too.
5/9/2012 6:34:08 PM
^Agreed, based on 2 weeks of use the Photon so far. It's actually rather good. It may not be one of the top end devices but for the money I'm pretty impressed. My only demerits are a so-so camera (yeah, 8 MP, but I'd rather have a 5 MP with a better sensor) and questionable battery life under heavy use.I like HTC's interface and they make compelling devices but the quality is atrocious. (In my 4.5 years on HTC devices I had one Mogul, 5 Touch Pros, and 4 Touch Pro 2s, all of them except the original mogul warranty replacements.) Also why the rush for LTE devices on Sprint? My impression is that outside some larger markets (which we are not one of) it won't be available until late this year if not 2013.[Edited on May 9, 2012 at 8:05 PM. Reason : h]

Verizon is switching out my Nexus to see if that resolves the random data drops I've been experiencing. We'll see.
5/10/2012 8:01:46 AM
New nexus is significantly better at maintaining a signal. Not necessarily greater reception, just not as much in and out as before.
5/11/2012 9:29:01 AM
Interesting. I've been having the same issue with my Nexus on Verizon. Seems like every 2-3 days it will just stop sending/receiving data and I have to reboot it.

I will admit to anyone that I am a cheap-ass. But I see no reason to complain--when it works? Most of the time in my opinion. I get 4G coverage at work and at home (yes, wimax not LTE). Maybe my experience is not the norm and I'll be sorry when I move this summer. Remains to be seen.

5/11/2012 1:09:46 PM
hmm...upgrade is due. Now to go for the galaxy nexus or pray that Verizon gets the next one. Galaxy SIII just isn't too awe-inspiring and the incredible 4G looks meh]
5/11/2012 1:24:43 PM
I'd wait on the S3, or at least the next generation of procs...assuming your current phone is fine and the next gen stuff is coming out in the next month or two. S3 might be a longer wait... Have you checked out the One X?
5/11/2012 1:29:18 PM
meh...the Incredible 4G is probably the closest we get to the One X and I'm still not too confident in Samsung's update abilities and development following. Maybe I'll just see what new devices the BAMF developers get. Currently have the Thunderbolt which has been perfectly fine on a custom rom but my serial upgrade tendencies are making me itchy.
5/11/2012 1:56:56 PM
Just upgraded my iPhone 4 to a One X over the phone from AT&T for $150. They actually price matched Sam's Club/Amazon for me because I voiced concerns about a 3rd party screwing up my grandfathered unlimited data plan. The first CSR actually told me I could only keep the $30/unlimited if I upgraded to another iPhone, which was completely wrong, so keep that in mind if you're in a similar situation.[Edited on May 11, 2012 at 4:16 PM. the one X on AT&T looks freaking awesome! I'm kinda locked into sprint for a while, and I'm still rocking the original EVO like it's nobody's business, but am looking for a new phone...new LTE EVO or SGIII for me..don't know how much longer it'll be
5/12/2012 10:22:47 PM
I just jumped to the One X from an iPhone 4. I'm liking it, but it has a few issues...Multitasking is screwed at the moment. It is really aggressive with closing background apps. I'm finding it hard to browse the internet and play streaming music at the same time without it killing the music.Notifications, especially texts, are really hit or miss. Sometimes I open the messages app and see a few texts it never told me about.I'm really hoping AT&T/HTC push out an update for it soon. It's a couple of bug fixes (and a locked bootloader) away from being a great phone. The screen is insane and I'm actually digging ICS+Sense 4.[Edited on May 13, 2012 at 12:13 AM. Reason : .]
5/13/2012 12:11:31 AM
^That sounds fucking awful. You'd think by v4 of an OS on a flagship device they would have basic task management and SMS working.----------------I'm now awaiting my Beta Wave to open on republicwireless Can't wait for some $19.95 a month unlimited everything goodness, even if I do have to use an Android phone
5/13/2012 3:24:18 PM
^^ yeah, I imagine most of the things you mentioned are just small bugs (still annoying) that will get fixed pretty quick, glad to hear you like the screen...have you tried other music players other than stock? that's what I usually do and like them, and the added functionality, more.
5/13/2012 3:25:53 PM
Who provides the cell service for them?
5/13/2012 5:06:16 PM
AT&T
5/13/2012 5:09:41 PM
^^^I haven't had as much issue with the stock music player playing things locally. It is screwing up more with Google Play/Pandora/MOG and such.I sent HTC a nastygram but haven't heard back. The missed text notifications are bugging me.

anyone else have an issue with wifi and bluetooth not coming on? I try to enable them and then phone will try for 10min and reboot, sometimes doing this behavior in an infinite loop
5/14/2012 9:40:41 AM
My One X doesn't seem to like to keep as much open as my Atrix on CM7 did, but I'm not having issues multitasking most of the time. Everynow and then when I would switch between a few apps it'll screw up (most notably, when I was driving out to pick up a girl on our first date, I switched away from navigation to the messaging app to call her, and when i switched it back to navigation mid-call, it lost the directions. haven't had anything since then, and I found a setting to make sure I have 4 apps in memory before it shuts any of them)

Wow... Wonder how long the delay will be?Also, I wonder if HTC saw this coming and wanted to get some hardware through customs before that deadline. Could explain why it shipped with a couple of these bugs.
