^^im just curious and dont feel like looking up the rules
3/13/2010 2:07:43 PM
It all depends on how they release him. Now stfu alias about guys who will be in the nba next year
3/14/2010 10:38:18 AM
noc about landesburg
3/14/2010 10:55:02 AM
even if its only 1 season and he goes to the nba next year, it would still be great to have him. We would be unstopable. its always fun to pipe dream. is lowe just going to settle with painter and vandenburg as our centers?we really need a good 6'10+ player.
3/14/2010 12:15:23 PM
if the bulls won championships with bill cartwright im sure we can make do with painter/vandenburg as long as we surround him with the likes of harrow, brown, wood, leslie and smith
3/14/2010 12:48:40 PM
They'll be juniors by the time they look at starting time and they both will be good. I think Painter will be a solid player by the time he graduates.
3/14/2010 1:07:35 PM
Ncaa rules state a player has to sit a year if he transfers. I believe interconference acc transfer rules are 2 years. Both of those can be waived in special circumstances. Neither would be waived here. Also the team can pick schools that the player cannot be released to.In conclusion, stfu alias
3/14/2010 1:12:15 PM
FYI Smith plays center for us...
3/14/2010 1:47:40 PM
^one of our problems. smith is a beast on offense but can't be asked to anchor a defense at 6'6 barefooted.
3/14/2010 1:57:30 PM
and he is a terrible rebounder
3/14/2010 1:57:55 PM
Yeah, the #8 reb guy in the acc is a terrible rebounder(unless you meant horner)
3/14/2010 2:03:23 PM
When smith first came to state he was a huge hole on defense. Last year he got a lot better but was still below average on defense. Right now he's a slightly above average defender. At 6'7 or 6'8 or whatever he is listed at he can hold his own on defense and rebounding against anyone in the acc.In conclusion, stfu alias
3/14/2010 2:22:31 PM
you don't want a 6'7 guy that your offense is centered around being the last line of defense against the goal, even if hes a decent defender.Anyway you cut it you're going to have to risk either A. giving up easy baskets inside or B. getting him in foul troublefor us its often been both.
3/14/2010 2:27:30 PM
Favors is a 6'9 true PF. Stfu alias
3/14/2010 2:28:50 PM
well smith isn't a terrible rebounder. but he's not that good. everyone who averages more rebounds than him per game average less minutes played per game. [Edited on March 14, 2010 at 2:48 PM. Reason : ]
3/14/2010 2:44:17 PM
His rebounding ability isn't a problem for us. When he and Howell are in the game we have no troubles rebounding
3/14/2010 2:51:35 PM
^this is true. b/c howell is such a beast and makes up for horner's and smith's inability, getting 11 rebounds in 18 minutes.
3/14/2010 2:55:06 PM
If you think smith sucks at rebounding you are an idiot. K?
3/14/2010 2:56:26 PM
3/14/2010 2:58:29 PM
hickson playing really well
3/14/2010 4:25:58 PM
while true, i'm wondering what that has to do with state basketball recruiting.
3/14/2010 4:55:13 PM
the question isn't if smith is capable. the question is do we want smith put into the most foul-prone position on defense? At that height, you can't possibly play against good post players without picking up a few fouls per half.
3/14/2010 5:00:58 PM
He did it all this year... Only a couple of games in serious foul trouble and we have multiple players who can come in and back him up. Are you really stupid enough to think he would play better at PF? He doesn't have any form of an outside game and would get destroyed by quicker players dribbling past him...
3/14/2010 7:18:55 PM
i think you're thinking of small forward and not power forward
3/14/2010 7:30:05 PM
smith is an average rebounder. he gets the numbers because he's the only guy we have down low when horner is in the game and even then, his numbers arent that great. he also has a tendency to stack orebs by missing his own shots, though he cut down on that this yearnext year w/ howell starting will make up for any of his deficiencies though
3/14/2010 7:30:09 PM
Smith is a great rebounder for his size...he has great hands and he is very good at his 2nd jump...a lot of guys can soar for rebounds, but Smith is good at jumping up again immediately after coming down from a previous jump...if he was 3 inches taller he'd be unstoppable
3/14/2010 7:33:49 PM
yea but hes notand there are guys who are 6'6 who have dominated the boards
3/14/2010 7:36:10 PM
3/14/2010 7:43:34 PM
PF should have an outside game in the college game and should also be able to guard and play on the perimeter. Trevor booker was an excellent example of a PF.
3/14/2010 8:08:25 PM
I want my 4 and 5 down lowI want my 4 more like Hickson than Horner[Edited on March 14, 2010 at 8:12 PM. Reason : better example]
3/14/2010 8:10:41 PM
You want your 5 to be like smith on offense except maybe taller ideally, but smith plays several inches taller than he is. You want your 4 to be able to bang and shoot a mid range jumper if he needs to
3/14/2010 9:05:43 PM
^^ Hickson also played center for us. When Smith and Mccauley would play together Mccauley would convert to a PF that is why you saw him taking more outside shots for us and guarding more on the perimeter. This was done in spite of Mccauley being the taller player (listed at 6'10" I think) Your PF should have some form of a dribble drive and be able to defend someone on the perimeter that is why Booker is the prime example. If you have both your PF and C camped out down low there is absolutely NO room for a guard to penetrate. You want to keep as many defenders as possible away from the lane because then they aren't immediately able to help on D.[Edited on March 14, 2010 at 10:05 PM. Reason : asdf]

You can move your posts around and work the high-low game. Do you think San Antonio was shy about putting Duncan and Robinson on the games together? Obviously passing, screening, offensive awareness, and a 12-15 foot jump shot are good tools to create offensive space and flow.In the college game watch Kansas use Aldrich and the Morris twins. The twins have decent range on the jump shot but are clearly post players.

from PP: CJ spent the weekend w/ Harrow and his family.
3/15/2010 10:07:39 AM
rivals updated CJL to high interest for Kentucky and medium interest for NCState.
3/15/2010 10:11:17 AM
Has he or anyone close to him made any statement that is based on, or are they speculating as usual?
3/15/2010 10:13:35 AM
Rivals can suck it.....it seems like most people on kentucky boards are moving on to other prospects. Still trying not to get my hopes up.....but.....
3/15/2010 10:13:56 AM
CJ seems to spend a lot more time around Raleigh than he does in Lexingtonthat can't be bad
3/15/2010 10:34:39 AM
^sounds like the silly kind of remark mamba would make
3/15/2010 10:38:49 AM
umm ... he lives in raleigh
3/15/2010 10:39:04 AM
Pretty sure CJL has been to more home games at NCSU.
3/15/2010 11:24:10 AM
Hodge on 99.9 now calling out CJ to come to State. Said he's the next KG.
3/15/2010 4:32:18 PM
We should hire Jules to be a recruiter on the stafflove that guy
3/15/2010 4:34:06 PM
lol yea he'd be pretty good
3/15/2010 4:36:23 PM
That's actually a damn good idea
3/15/2010 4:36:41 PM
I concur. That passion is huge.
3/15/2010 4:39:00 PM
maybe when he's done playing he'll join the staff
