In a situation where you go from enjoying a movie to being shot at, you'd be doing good just to put rounds on target at 10 yards. Between the huge adrenalin spike and your heart rate hitting 190, just making the decision to draw and fire is difficult without some very stressful prior training.
7/21/2012 8:39:39 PM
Im glad I have such training, and have had to pull a weapon in high stress situations before.

I hate waiting with a clenched butthole, hoping no new stupid gun control laws come out of this. Every time some dipshit makes headlines. Also I wonder how .357 SIG fmjs would've done against this guy.
7/22/2012 11:09:23 AM
I am not worried about new legislation. Nothing happened as a result of Columbine or the VTtech shootings and it is basically political suicide. Even if Obama gets reelected it would be really tough to get something through congress.

FN five seven fmj.... 20+ rnds of armor piercing hot fire.

what is a good affordable gun safe or is that mutually exclusive.i have 8 rifles and plan for up to 20 in the future.
7/22/2012 2:29:49 PM
define "affordable". different folks can afford different things.
7/22/2012 2:46:08 PM
On a similar note, what's that local safe company that makes ridiculously good safes? Is it Drake Safes?
7/22/2012 2:55:17 PM
^Yeah. He's in Roxboro.
7/22/2012 2:58:57 PM
his brochure is in my gallery in the folder called "Drake Safe Co." or somethingyou should call him and set up a time to go by his shop and check them out. when i went i was able to see safes in various stages of the build. he has a lot of pictures on the company's facebook page.
7/22/2012 3:32:43 PM
thinking under 1k
7/23/2012 12:27:40 AM
at that price, whatever you get is gonna be so light that you better bolt it down
7/23/2012 12:32:42 AM
yeah it will be... but maybe i can come up... i just went through those drake safes... pretty awesome... $1500 seems like i could get exactly what i want.
7/23/2012 12:37:00 AM
you might could get a lower-tier liberty for around $1000. better than nothing.but they can clean one of them out in a matter of minutes with a cut-off wheel[Edited on July 23, 2012 at 12:44 AM. Reason : adsf]
7/23/2012 12:43:24 AM
yeah i think for now it's more of a deterrence then anything major.my .50 is staying at my sis's house (my bro in-law has a huge safe)nothing else is worth much more then a grand. but the truth is if it's holding 6 grand in guns i probably should spend more on it. (+ god knows what in my wife's grand mother's coin collection)

Im looking for a pump action magnum shotgun. I have a 870 Wingmaster and am looking to upgrade to something with a bit more range. The 2 3/4 shells arent quite cutting it. Any suggestions of pawn shops or places to go look at some?
7/23/2012 8:18:08 AM

7/23/2012 8:36:40 AM

7/23/2012 3:07:16 PM

7/23/2012 7:03:37 PM

Yea, the new shotgun is going to be for waterfowl hunting. Going to try some goose and swan hunts this year and need something with a bit more oomph. Hunting is the only thing I will be using this for, so im not really concerned with anything else. I want a pump just for ease of use and to eliminate jamming issues when im out in the swamp. Since im looking for a new gun to hopefully last a long time, I figured I would go ahead and get the 3.5, but I plan on mostly shooting 3" rounds. I went and talked to a pawn shop guy and he told me he could get me a 870 Super Mag in sythetic for right around $400 new. I havent looked too much at the Mossbergs but I have heard that they cycle better than the newer 870s. I guess Im just partial to remingtons, since that is what most of my family owns and uses. Cant really trade the wingmaster I have, It was the first gun my dad gave to me and I plan to keep it and hopefully pass it on to my kid.For my budget I was figuring on about $500 for a new gun or $250-350 for a used one. My SO is letting me pick out my anniversary gift
7/24/2012 7:43:13 AM
I like the slide release position in the mossbergs much better than on the 870. Much more convenient.
7/24/2012 8:59:38 AM
Any pawn shops with good selection around here?
7/24/2012 9:10:01 AM
just wait around until bass pro or something has a big coupon deal.i got a camo 870 supermag a few months ago for 399+tax out the door.new.it does fine with 2.75 shells, and i only ever shot a couple 3.5s (fuck that).it came with 3 chokes i believe.
7/24/2012 11:02:50 AM
^^fuquay gun & gold, depending on what you're looking for.

I'm looking into getting a silencer for my AR / sps tactical. Any recommendations? Looking around the 600 dollar range.

I've used Surefire, AAC, and KAC suppressors. What is your application for this? Are you just trying to dampen sound or are you going to run this as some sort of stealth hunting setup with subsonic rounds and shit. You're gonna get what you pay for in terms of ease of use and cleaning. An AAC Ranger will run you ~600 but I think internal maintenance is a little more difficult. Also a lot of low-budget rifle caliber suppressors you can't run wet so you won't be getting as great a damp.
7/24/2012 4:07:05 PM
keep the sound down. I just hunt paper . I would like threaded , Lenoir[Edited on July 24, 2012 at 7:05 PM. Reason : herp]

yall think lawmen's will negotiate on a used gun price?
7/25/2012 7:31:24 AM
They used to. Not as much as a pawn shop but I've negotiated with them in the past.
7/25/2012 7:41:49 AM
Brother is looking for an AR and wanted some advice. I've been out of the AR market for a while so I haven't kept up with all the ups and downs. I recommended Daniel Defense or LMT, but I think he's wanting to spend a little closer to $1k and not so close to $2k. That puts us in Stag / M&P range. Thoughts? Suggestions?
7/25/2012 1:46:58 PM

wOOt! Picked up my first Glock. Traded my CM9 for a XD9 subcompact with a member on here. On the way back home I stopped by my local gun shop and asked what it would cost to trade my XD9 for a Glock 26. Needless to say I walked out with the Glock 26.I think the XD was a great gun. It fit my hand better and seemed to have a better trigger. It was larger than the Glock however. I've just always wanted a Glock...
7/25/2012 1:59:05 PM
I don't like Glocks because you're apparently supposed to hold them sideways.
7/25/2012 2:05:19 PM
Funny enough, this one came with the sights on the side so it seems to work well.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986_FBI_Miami_shootout fuck. what a cool read. I have been operating under the assumption that cop/fbi stuff is for hicks but this is darn interesting. It's like that movie Way of the Gun.
7/25/2012 3:38:56 PM
^http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBGfKtuo2AMIt might seem cheesy, but its a pretty damn accurate account of what happened right down to the training scares the FBI had picked up (bullets in pockets, kneeling and looking at the gun to reload, etc). [Edited on July 25, 2012 at 5:18 PM. Reason : ...]
