Agreed, Congress should do something, as our current situation is completely broken. Sticking your thumb in Congress' eye not even a month after the election, however, is not a good way to make that happen. Moreover, I'd question, on the surface, the legality of giving work permits to millions of people without even consulting Congress. Maybe it's legit, but it seems hard to imagine that such a huge action is kosher, especially after Obama, himself, said he couldn't do that.
11/22/2014 11:58:15 PM
Ha what's a good way to make it happen?Making things happen that don't benefit the oil industry, or media companies isn't on their agenda.
11/23/2014 12:07:55 AM
This is all a wonderful distraction from the new war in afghanistan. Wonderful misdirection by genius obama.
11/23/2014 12:33:01 AM
It's probably the best timed political act I've seen Obama make.Even if the republicans overturn it, it burns them the next election, it distracts from Gruber, and it was good cover for Afghanistan thing.I have a fear that the republicans slipped something in that we haven't seen reported on.
11/23/2014 12:58:59 AM
Obama picked on last night on Saturday night live. It's about damn time that school house Rock thing was comedy genius

My posts, explained by me:"Oh look, the great one decides to say something"...I'm paraphrasing here because I'm too lazy to look up my own post.- I feel that Obama really didn't need to say anything last night. He's a smart guy, he knew that no matter what he said, it wouldn't change things. Do I think it made things worse? No. I think the people doing the rioting could care less what he had to say. He should have just let it be, but this guy loves to get in front of the camera"The Congressional Black Caucus said that this is a slap in the face to all Americans"- I feel like the CBC should be asking for solidarity in the black community, and should stand by the decision made by the grand jury. Not say inflammatory things. Of course this wouldn't be the first time members of the CBC have said inflammatory things. Now how are those posts above so ignorant? Tell me.

^^^^ so you think that the President of the United States shouldn't remark on a major event going on in the country he is the leader of? especially the first African American president who is uniquely qualified to comment on matters of race? hell, I disagreed with most of what he said, but he absolutely had to say somethingthe Congressional Black Caucus represent their constituents, many of whom are people of color, who are seeing this moment as one to show the rest of America what a majority of it doesn't care to know about. you're acting as if they explicitly told residents of Ferguson to burn it to the ground. all most people wanted was a trial, to display all of the evidence for all of the world to see. they didn't get that opportunity and aren't happy about it. this is much bigger than just a cop shooting a kid, and for whatever reason, you (and others like you), are unable to get that.[Edited on November 25, 2014 at 11:32 AM. 11/25/2014 11:31:14 AM
what did you disagree with
11/25/2014 12:28:48 PM
If obama wanted to be a bold, visionary leader, he should have gone to ferguson this morning and made a statement directly to the protesters and police there to bring calm to the situation. If we can try to broker peace between israel/palestine and with iran, or cuba, or NK, then why not in Ferguson? He wouldn't even have to stick around... just ride in with a bull horn, say what he needs to say, then go back to DC.I think that would go a long way. I doubt this would happen though.
11/25/2014 12:56:21 PM
Obama is an empty suit. He will always toe the line on every single issue to try and piss off the fewest people possible. He means well but doesnt stand for anything which makes him weak. If you dont see the loyalist analogy, you need to think outside the box a little more. It would be hard to see it if you dont view the people of ferguson as equal citizens.
11/25/2014 1:02:24 PM
What makes you think that I don't get why everybody is pissed off? I get it completely. And also, outside of the color of his skin, what makes you think this particular president is uniquely qualified to speak on this subject? His schooling in a poor districtwealthy suburb of Indonesia? His upbringing in a poor minority neighborhoodwealthy suburb of Indonesia? Or maybe it was racial issues he encountered in high schoola college prep school in Hawaii? What about his single mother working 3 jobs to make ends meetgraduate school mom working on a ph.d?Nothing about this man other than skin color ties his ass to the people of Ferguson

Why is it that when Bill Cosby tells black people to stop acting like thugs, he's called an Uncle Tom, or Oreo, or whatever disparaging remark people make about him? It is because even though he's black, they feel that he has no common life experiences with them.It is the same with Obama. He may be black, but he grew up fairly privileged, went to Ivory colleges...he shares no common experience with the people that are protesting and rioting in Ferguson.
11/25/2014 1:47:02 PM
lol, oreo? anyway its pretty simple let me explain:1) bill cosby makes them feel bad2) obama makes them feel good
11/25/2014 2:57:42 PM
^^ he shares many common experiences regarding racism with other blacks, which is the critical point. It doesn't matter what kind of black person you are, the police don't see a difference. Many societal institutions don't care. That's kind of what people are upset about...You could be a well known professor standing on your own porch, or some thug, and still be victimized by police.
11/25/2014 3:03:04 PM
what about those recently elected black members of congress? they get disparaged as white lap dogs too.oh yeah, republican. move along.
11/25/2014 3:26:24 PM
I said Ivory? WTF I meant Ivy League. brain fart.
11/25/2014 3:27:31 PM
haha, white on the brain
11/25/2014 3:28:26 PM
^^^ what about them?I haven't seen anyone in the "usual" media circles disparaging them.
11/25/2014 3:35:31 PM
the day after election day was pretty rough for them on twitter ...it doesnt really matter though does it
11/25/2014 3:39:16 PM
It seems to matter to you, but i don't think "black republicans" are a broadly marginalized group. They probably face more hate from their GOP comrades than anyone else.
11/25/2014 3:45:20 PM
no, not reallyjust the "i have a black friend" ... thing
11/25/2014 4:29:23 PM
I'm not gonna lie, the fact that Mia Love is a black women makes me feel a tiny bit better about her being my district's representative. Actually, no the fuck it doesn't, chick is batshit crazy.
11/25/2014 6:48:57 PM
it's a bit racist to care what color a candidate's skin is, isn't it?

look she is smart enough to donate large sums of money to the anointed one, so there should be no doubt that she is qualified.
12/4/2014 10:32:18 AM
she doesn't seem very qualified, but isn't that pretty common for diplomats? (i'm not excusing this, i think it's a terrible appointment for an area that is pretty important now)
12/4/2014 10:39:25 AM
It sounds like the other diplomat, one to a South American country I believe (I can't remember the name) was also pretty unqualified. I'm sure this happens with every president though. Ambassador spots seem like a really good place to fill in favors.
