I haven't been charged yet
6/16/2010 9:20:58 AM
i didn't think anyone was charged until they were sent or you pick it up. I was pretty sure they'd just put a placeholder...maybe I'm wrong though.
6/16/2010 9:32:39 AM
People at work are supposedly selling off their 3GS phones for $300+ ... say what?
6/16/2010 9:46:53 AM
That's what i'm doing with my 32gig 3gs. It's still an iPhone. I want to make money every time a new iPhone comes out.
6/16/2010 10:16:21 AM
double. bleh. [Edited on June 16, 2010 at 10:16 AM. Reason : h]
^^^wtf.. if that's true then i hope it stays that way until july. i'm not eligible for a cheap upgrade until the end of july and really don't want to use a shitty phone in the mean timeand some girl has my old 3g so i can't use that in the mean ime
6/16/2010 10:37:30 AM
I'm going to ask a dumb question: what's this cheap upgrade everyone's talking about?
6/16/2010 11:01:48 AM
I think they just mean the subsidized upgrade price. So $200 instead of $500 or whatever the retail value of the phone is.
6/16/2010 11:03:37 AM
fo shizzle. wonder if they'll have that here in Korea too.
6/16/2010 11:11:48 AM
yea.
6/16/2010 11:12:29 AM
but when will we get it? [Edited on June 16, 2010 at 11:16 AM. Reason : oh right.. yeah that red circle means "click here to get emails telling you when it finally arrives"]

Mark Zuckerburg doesn't know how to use a damn iPhone:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/16/facebook-ceo-slams-iphone_n_612527.html
6/16/2010 12:14:50 PM
The only thing wrong w/ his comments is that he ignored everyone else saying the iphones battery life was crappy and got one anyway.
6/16/2010 12:30:46 PM
What constitutes crappy, in the case of the iPhone?
6/16/2010 12:41:07 PM
I don't get why what you posted proves he doesn't know how to use an iPhone. Looks like he was just misinformed or unaware of its issues
6/16/2010 12:45:04 PM
6/16/2010 12:49:48 PM
iphone standby is like 24hrs, talk/app usage is like 2 hrs
6/16/2010 12:50:06 PM
A dumbass worth more than your entire lineage^are you trolling?I sat at the DMV the other day for 2 hours playing Angry birds and i went from 100% (car charger on the way there) to ~60% battery.[Edited on June 16, 2010 at 12:51 PM. Reason : *]
6/16/2010 12:51:05 PM
He went from a phone that "hurts his thumbs" to a phone he can't seem to keep charged. This doesn't seem to be a problem for most other iPhone users.[Edited on June 16, 2010 at 12:54 PM. Reason : ^ wealth does not bestow intelligence.]
6/16/2010 12:53:48 PM
i dont know, maybe my battery sucks but 2 hours of real usage is about the limit on my 3gs.
6/16/2010 12:54:45 PM
^^ note, I didn't say he wasn't a dumbass.Though I don't think he is a dumbass , I just think he is a 26 year old that hit it out of the park and has no idea what to do in his current situation.^ yeah that doesn't sound at all normal[Edited on June 16, 2010 at 12:59 PM. Reason : *]
6/16/2010 12:59:02 PM
It's smart phone battery life in general. The iPhone isn't horrible compared to every other smart phone out there. Even better than some.
6/16/2010 1:19:53 PM
I just get in the routine of plugging it in when power is available. It was a huge change from a phone that literally could last for 3 weeks (I had a special battery). I almost never run out of juice anymore.
6/16/2010 1:30:41 PM
6/16/2010 1:55:31 PM
Oh I also wanted to ask about Angry Birds. WTF. I got it thinking it'd be cool but there's nothing to it. It's stupid. What am I missing?
6/16/2010 2:25:58 PM
Yeah, I didn't get the appeal of that game either. It was (is?) the #1 paid app for a while and I honestly don't see why.
6/16/2010 2:32:38 PM
^People are also willing to pay $300+ for a used iPhone, I don't get that either. People are weird
6/16/2010 2:47:05 PM
After the last 24 hours, it's now plainly obvious that it's worth well more than $300 to be able to avoid dealing with AT&T.But for real, why is that surprising to you? $300 seems a bit low, if you ask me. I certianly hope to get a little more than that for mine. iPhones have always sold for more than their subsidized 2 year commitment price. When the 3GS was new it sold at buy.com unlocked for $999. $300 a year later for a used phone in good shape...seems about right.
6/16/2010 2:57:17 PM
Wow, according to Apple, the soonest you'll get the phone if you order now is July 14th!
6/16/2010 3:10:26 PM
so i'm sure this has been addressed but searching through this thread is extremely difficult...say i get a new iphone4. my husband is on at&t, on a separate plan, and currently can text but can't send/receive pictures or get on the internet (no data). what would need to be done for him to use my iphone 3gs? can he add just a regular data plan online, switch the sim, and be done...or does it have to be an iphone data plan? he won't be a high data user.[Edited on June 16, 2010 at 3:59 PM. Reason : ]
6/16/2010 3:58:29 PM
it'll most likely be an iphone data plan, but you can get the small one (>200mb) for 15 bucks.
6/16/2010 4:05:25 PM
At this point there is no such thing as an "iPhone data plan" (except for the people that are still grandfathered in with the $30 unlimited plan) A data plan is a data plan, no matter if you're using a new iPhone or any other data capable phone.]
6/16/2010 4:07:50 PM
yeah has to be an iphone data plan i think.. just get the cheap one that is now an option
6/16/2010 4:08:09 PM
is the iphone 4 connector the same as the other iphones? i'm wondering if old chargers will continue to work...
6/16/2010 4:22:21 PM
Probably a safe bet.
6/16/2010 4:30:15 PM
okay so the 200mb plan. what about the sim card thing? just drop his in and restore?
6/16/2010 4:36:13 PM
6/16/2010 4:43:14 PM
Well, true. But they haven't really changed the iPod connector since it came out (or I think it's been since the original model was introduced, at least), and none of the components like the battery are likely going to draw a lot more power (like the iPad).
6/16/2010 4:56:46 PM
They haven't changed the physical connector, no, but you go ahead and try to charge your iPhone 3GS with a cable designed for a 1st get iPod and tell me how that works out. Hell, try using one from a 1st get iPhone even. And don't even get me started on video cables. They've changed the compatibility of those with firmware. They don't even need to release a new piece of hardware to screw people on those.
6/16/2010 5:04:06 PM
Stand down, dude. I'm not looking to start a fight over connectors, ok?
6/16/2010 5:18:29 PM
first gen iphone cable works fine on my 3gs. a lot of the original equipment used 12v (firewire) charging instead of 5v usb. i can't imagine them switching to anything else since it's going to sync over usb so it has to use 5v anyways.
6/16/2010 5:43:03 PM
damn, so i couldn't get through the website yesterday... when i try to order today, it says it won't ship til July 2 this wouldn't be such a big deal if my phone hadn't stopped working last weekedit: wtf, just went in again and now it says won't ship til July 14[Edited on June 16, 2010 at 6:40 PM. 6/16/2010 6:35:18 PM
6/16/2010 7:13:52 PM
oh well. I have 6-7 cables that worked just fine with my 1st gen iPhone that don't work at all with my 3GS. Plus 2 car chargers and a cheapo wall adapter. Guess I'm just the unlucky one.
6/16/2010 7:54:13 PM
I don't recall offhand if there was any difference in power needs between the original iPhone and the 3Gs, but from y experience, third party manufacturers of chargers always seem to go for the absolute minimum amount of power to be functional. It's possible just none of your chargers are up to the task. A cable is a cable though as far as the iPhones are concerned.
