Seabron had a really bad night until about the last 2 minutes and with our team he has to be good. He missed a lot of contested shots in close and several times seemed to leave his man wide open for a layup. With about 5 minutes to go Va. Tech gave us multiple chances to take the lead and we went on a scoring drought instead.

Has any player regressed year to year under Keatts more than Hayes?
1/20/2022 8:27:59 AM
Not at all. For the most part I feel like player development has been solid with Keatts (Seabron and Bates are great examples). But Hayes is just bad right now. Seems like Hayes is more than just a slump…seems to have lost all confidence.
1/20/2022 8:30:30 AM
TSmith is making him over think everything
1/20/2022 9:28:45 AM
Total bummer about Ross. It's especially unfortunate timing given that Keatts had just figured out he was better than Gibson. I didn't watch the game last night--especially glad I missed the stellar out of timeout play that Keatts came up with to end the game. How many 0-fers or 1-fers does Hayes have to put up before Pass gets some real PT? When we are getting our asses kicked next year, I don't want to fuckin hear that we are young and inexperienced because now is a great opportunity for him to get some experience.
1/20/2022 9:53:16 AM
Seems like Smith is getting more time at PG. Hayes only played 13 mins. But Pass only 4. I, too, am all for seeing Pass get more PT. Can’t be much worse than Hayes.
1/20/2022 10:01:31 AM
I think our most minutes lineup last night was DSEA-Ebe-Tollhouse(morsell, nickname patent pending)-Turk-JCole
1/20/2022 10:16:22 AM
I like that lineup ok, but completely take the ball out of Hayes hands and tell him he is a defensive specialist and flip-flop his and Pass's minutes. I actually think Hayes can be a capable defender for stretches, but since his shot completely left him, he seems to have lost confidence all over. I'm on board for Tollhouse. DSEA? Nah. I'm a fan of Seagod, though.

DC

I was sad-laughing a little today remembering that Gibson scored our first 4 points and then never shot again. "He's got 4 and 5 is his career high!!" *30 game minutes later* well 5 is still career high

I miss Shakeel Moore.

I haven’t seen that used much as an excuse, tbh. Maybe in reference to the big men specifically but for the team as a whole I haven’t seen it. But maybe I’ve missed it.
1/21/2022 2:23:58 PM
iirc, at the start of the season, only Hellems and Manny had played more than two seasons with the team (and we know what happened to Manny). Seabron redshirted his freshman year and didn't play much last year. Allen red-shirted when he transferred, then he played some last year, but he missed the last 8 games with injury. So really Hellems is the only player on the team that has a full two years of court-experience with the team. Everyone else is freshmen, sophomores or transfers.
1/21/2022 2:30:17 PM
^^ take a listen to the Keatts postgames. It's his favorite thing to say after a loss.^ That's the nature of college bball. NOONE has a starting 5 of seniors/juniors. We may be one of the most experienced teams in the ACC. But even if we didn't it's a bogus ass excuse for a coach who has been here for 5 years and has control over the roster. [Edited on January 21, 2022 at 2:34 PM. Reason : d]
1/21/2022 2:32:10 PM
Yep with the transfer portal like it is, even if you have an “old” team they likely won’t have played together for 3 years.
1/21/2022 3:53:02 PM
Not that it matters, and not that it's an excuse, but I'd challenge someone to find several (or maybe one, i dont know) teams that don't have at least two guys that have played (on the court, not redshirt) together for more than two years. And especially two starters. I don't know, maybe it's more common that I think.
1/21/2022 3:56:46 PM
Wake brought in a ton of transfers this year and they’re doing alright. Bring in a lot of transfers can work. The transfers just need to be good. Morsell has struggled to be consistent. Allen sucks. And Gantt hasn’t played. That along with Bates’ injury really sank us. Missing on transfers and then losing the teams best player…not great!
1/21/2022 4:14:22 PM
At this point we've got 3 big men out for the season, including our most impactful player. I realize Gantt hasn't ever played for us, but i think it's pretty obvious he would have played a significant depth role on this team. I don't know of any team that wouldn't struggle losing that many big dudes.Add to that the inexplicable disappearance of Cam Hayes's basketball abilities and you've got a recipe for disaster.
1/21/2022 4:21:46 PM
I know Gantt’s stats weren’t impressive at providence. But he would’ve been the second best big man on the team behind Bates. Although he doesn’t have the height like Ebe or Bates (he’s listed at 6’8”) he would’ve played plenty.
1/21/2022 4:37:46 PM
^^^just for fun (doesn't mean anything), I just looked at WF's roster, and they have one guy that's been there for 4 years, and another graduate student transfer that is playing his third season (and red-shirted another), and a third guy who's playing his third season... so even though Wake has a lot of transfers, they still have (at least) three guys who've played with each other for more than two years coming into this season (unlike us, who don't have any... not including Manny). (at this point I'm just doing this for fun, and I may have made some errors)[Edited on January 21, 2022 at 4:58 PM. Reason : ^^^]

We’re 2 point favorites vs UVa today. I guess UVa isn’t that good this year. Seems like KK’s teams have generally played well vs UVa
1/22/2022 1:38:25 PM
I forgot how much I hated playing UVa. Handsy as hell on defense all day long…daring refs to call it
1/22/2022 4:06:35 PM
Gardner is really good for UVa. He’s the transfer from ecu we went after but couldn’t land
1/22/2022 4:15:35 PM
There’s a successful after TO play. Jericole and Baby T on fire
1/22/2022 4:43:16 PM
Quick, stat department, what’s our record for most 3’s in a half and most in a game?
1/22/2022 4:44:34 PM
Don't know about in a half, but the most for a game was 19 vs Jacksonville on 12/22/17
1/22/2022 4:59:19 PM
Morsell having a really good game. Would love for him to be more aggressive and consistent.
1/22/2022 5:03:11 PM
Can't believe Hellems only has 2 rebounds! Keatts should bench him!!!
1/22/2022 5:23:43 PM

shh no that is impossible

Preeeettty good
1/22/2022 7:23:05 PM
HAHA. I came here hoping someone was gonna say something about that. Seeing how complicated the action was, it makes total sense why most of his inbounds plays don't work. But that was a thing of beauty.
1/22/2022 7:33:24 PM
^^^^nice
1/22/2022 7:44:38 PM
Was nice to not have to sweat it out at the end of a game. We need to keep shooting like that.
1/22/2022 11:11:58 PM
i agree, we should continue to shoot 60% every game. i don't know why keatts doesn't tell them to do that smh

2 fouls on morsell. So Hayes is in. He’s active defensively and made a nice pass to Hellems for an assist. But his shot is just broken right now. No need for him to be jacking up a 25 footer in the first place. Idk what the solution for Hayes is. But it’s gotta be in his head at this point.
1/26/2022 9:23:08 PM
This game is just brick after brick from both teams
1/26/2022 9:38:58 PM
ND can’t seem to stop Seabron. Need to quit settling for deep 3s and let Seabron drive.
1/26/2022 10:08:28 PM
Did the refs go to the monitor and review a charge/block call? Since when do they do that.
1/26/2022 10:17:01 PM
It is a known fact that Ron Groover hates Jericole Hellems. He will do whatever it takes to fuck him over.
1/26/2022 10:26:00 PM
I know I’m biased but I feel like these refs kinda suck (and so do both of the teams heyyooo).
1/26/2022 10:51:04 PM
Yeah well Ron Groover is terrible. Gave them a timeout when they never had possession!
1/26/2022 10:52:32 PM
Fuck him!
