Trump is quite literally killing his coalition of would-be voters.
3/29/2020 11:12:48 AM
People are mostly dying in democrat places so even if those are his voters ( i don't seee the connection), he'd just be changing the popular vote. I would guess old people in cities are Biden's demographic.

someone just died in mecklenburg co
3/29/2020 3:29:55 PM
The death rate for NC is interestingly low though, compared to other states that have the same level of infections.
3/29/2020 3:34:51 PM
Probably because of a lack of testing/reporting. Give it time.CA and WA have somewhat flattened the curve, but good luck to NY/NJ/LA/FL/MI...[Edited on March 29, 2020 at 4:01 PM. Reason : Hope my parents and sister and nieces and cousins and friends in NC are all safe]

3/29/2020 6:38:21 PM
Those who got sick obviously didn't give enough money to the church
3/29/2020 6:45:34 PM
this week is going to be extremely tough
3/29/2020 6:59:52 PM
aprils gonna be the worst.
3/29/2020 7:03:52 PM
It all depends. The next 14 days in NYC are going to be pretty close to unthinkable. But given wide swaths of the Southeast who STILL aren’t mandating social distancing it’ll likely be more like 3-4 weeks until the peak.
3/29/2020 7:55:52 PM
I have noticed a really disturbing trends in some churches. Our pastor a few weeks ago was criticizing this whole thing because no one was in church. Read a few other articles of the same. It's almost stereo typical - church vs science. The 2000 year battle rages on.[Edited on March 30, 2020 at 7:36 AM. Reason : s]

I expect we're all going to wake up Wednesday and find that this is just an elaborate April fools joke. Easter egg on our face!

^^^A lot of them are feeling the pain financially, especially in older and smaller communities. Folks aren't tech savvy enough to Venmo or do online donations so the church is going to have a tough time paying the preacher. The real shit part to me is that some churches (even some megachurches) are still holding service. One church had 3000+ in attendance I believe yesterday. What the ever loving fuck.

If you want some great graph comparisons of various countries infection rate, mortality rate and more check out John Burn Murdoch from Financial Times. He has been creating new charts on a daily basis to track this on a country by country basis.https://twitter.com/jburnmurdoch

My uncle is a Methodist pastor in a small town church, and even they are utilizing FB Live for their sermons. They just had a few people in the fellowship hall - the band, pastor, and the person doing the FB'ing, and that was it. It's tough though because his congregation is pretty old, so a lot of them probably don't even have FB.
3/30/2020 10:47:10 AM
^Oh yea I have some friends that are pastors and whatnot and they have been doing online services with Facebook and one with Zoom. That I have no issue with whatsoever because as you said its like 3-5 people in the church. But the ones that are like, "The Lord will protect you, come to church service as usual" so they can get that offering plate circling through are the ones that I have a special disdain for.
3/30/2020 10:51:43 AM
Yea. I read where the mega churches are still going strong.
3/30/2020 11:23:56 AM
How many disaster movies have we seen where hospital tents were erected in Central Park
3/30/2020 11:26:03 AM
I think all of them.
3/30/2020 11:55:50 AM
Personally I've seen zero with that scenario.

Well, maybe not Central Park, but the image is still pretty striking. From WRAL:12 p.m.: The formal wear clothing company Brooks Brothers is converting their operations in New York, Massachusetts and North Carolina from making ties and dress shirts to making masks and gowns. They are now making 150,000 masks a day, the company reports. The North Carolina factory is located in Sampson County.
3/30/2020 12:34:18 PM
wow i'm surprised they had any factories in the US.

curve has flattened in New Orleans/Louisianahttps://twitter.com/Crimealytics/status/1244671384309170176/photo/2https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/new-orleans/70112/march-weather/348585?year=2020
3/30/2020 2:21:57 PM
How is it flattening if the percentage Change in 24 hours is higher than the 3 day average
3/30/2020 2:30:12 PM
Graph looks linear to me. Fake news?
3/30/2020 2:40:52 PM
Idk its just in last 24 hrs is like 14% increase and you said 3 day average was like 10.5%. I might not have read correctly
3/30/2020 2:54:56 PM
the slope is definitely decreasing. there will be variations day to day but it is more about the trend. The slope has gradually decreased for several days, so that should constitute as a flattening. I'd be happy to see this carry across the nation over the next two weeks.
3/30/2020 3:17:25 PM
There are a ton of variables, not the least being testing rate.New Orleans area will likely see their curve flatten far sooner than a place like Florida simply because Mardi Gras was earlier and that was the main source of community spread.Nationally, Easter at the absolute earliest from what I’ve read from experts will be the peak and more likely 7-10 days after that.
3/30/2020 3:25:32 PM
^ peak in new Orleans?Peaks will be different everywhere.
