Oh I get it - saying things like Kevin Keatts is leaving for Louisville after his first year here isn't trolling?

Look, all I'm saying is having any sort of discussion about that is as credible as any argument about a flat earth. So, yes, as a discussion board user, discuss whatever. Doesn't make it any less silly.

I can't for the life of me figure out why you two are arguing over this. It's all conjecture and you both seem very sensitive to anyone disagreeing with you. Are you new to the internet? Please stop.

Has a coach ever done that before? After year one leave their current school for another school in the same conference? That just seems some odd to me that I would be shocked. I can see leaving for another school across the country, but in the same conference in the same year? I imagine there are some contract contingencies with that anyway. Not worried in the slightest.

Anyway, dude was at Louisville as an assistant for 3 years. I guess he will leave after next year so we don't have at least the same amount of fondness to him...

Still can't wrap by head around Keatts going to Lousiville. He seems determined to build something at State, it makes no sense to go to another team in the ACC. The media will have a field day with that story for eternity. State has deep pockets as well, Gott was one of the highest paid coaches in NCAA basketball if I recall.

No it wasn't

It's a totally fair question to ask though. Just about everyone thinks Padgett won't be retained. Many seem to think their first choice would be Mack, but if he says no, do you think they will even sniff at Keatts? If no, then fine, but I would be curious why. If yes, then asking what we do offer vs what Louisville could offer is valid.

All that said I think Keatts would say no in a heartbeat for a ton of reasons, as does everyone else that has posted about this so far, based on my reading.

Edit: let me make a small mea culpa, Wahoowa seemed to think it was worth worrying about. I contend every other post was some version of "no way"

i couldnt have came up with a gameplan more favorable for bcs only two players if i tried. kk has no situational awareness either. theres no excuse for yurt being in the game for a jerome robinson screen at the end.

he has critical defensive flaws, namely giving up a ton of easy lay ups and terrible defensive rebounding. you can maybe get away with one of those but not two. not going to overfocus on it until about year 3 though. not fair until he has his guys and he gets a one year reprieve next season due to roster constraints

Keatts joins V and Sloan as the only coaches in NCSU program history to not win at least one ACC tournament game in their first year.

Our press in the second half today was the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Press, give up an easy layup on the other end, and repeat.

Our press did have some benefit, bowman and robinson were both gassed at the end of the game and was apparent because a lot of their shots were hitting the front of the rim. You could see Keatts frustrated with the press, whether it was yurtseven's inability to guard the rim at the back end of the press or the ability for us to not recover quick enough.

so our official strategy is to wear out the other teams best players by letting them run up the court and get easy shpts the whole game.

our philosophy has clear strengths and weaknesses. we're really good against tall teams who cant keep up with the match up problems we present on offense and really bad against anyone with a big guard than can just dribble downhill straight to the basket

Good point. But this will be fixed with a big man who can protect the rim and has better lateral quickness than Yurt. I've not seen any of our incoming recruits, but I would bet all of them are better options.

yeah, defensively i don't think yurt fits into KK's style. obviously he's been really good offensively this year

I'm not sure he's Keatts' ideal center offensively, either. Remember when he was hired one of his first quotes was "Abu will lead the ACC in dunks" which, while an accurate assessment of Malik's (healthy) skillset, was not an accurate assessment of his playstyle.

Of course, when you have a guy as good as Yurt has been this year you make him fit. But based on his history at UNCW and Louisville I'd estimate his ideal 5 being something like Deandre jordan - a guy who just sets picks and rolls to the basket, rebounds and defends. Maybe after this season he's changed his mind some about stretch fives tho, idk

^^ yeah you’re right. Yurt is very good and when you have a player that skilled, like you said, you make it work. That’s not shitting on Yurt or anything. But I expect KK to recruit faster big men...they probably won’t have the shot Yurt had, but they’ll be quicker and more athletic ideally I think.

"make it work" doesn't mean you have to leave him in when you need a defensive stop against a fast pg at the end of the game.

I really, really hated Kendall Marshall, and I remember where I was during that 2012 ACC tourney game against UNC. I wish I hadn't been reminded of either of those calls.

I also remember when those turds had those "5" wrist bands. No amount of winning would ever make me want to be like that fanbase. Even that one sect of it.
