Here is an interesting thought (which I'm sure is already occurring): High Frequency traders have already shown a great willingness to use tweets as a part of their algorithms. If you don't have Trump's tweets feeding in to your system you're missing out. The type of quick but relatively small volatility in prices that his tweets have created in Boeing and Samsung/T-Mobile are a HFTraders wet dream. Scary to think a man child tweeting away can cause so many shockwaves.

So there's speculation that trump is skipping the security briefings because he trusts infowars and breitbart more than the intelligence agencies.

Trump may choose to stay ignorant but those around him will not. In addition to his own stupid shit, Trump will be doing the stupid shit of whoever has his ear and a gift for flattery.

Willful ignorance is not a formula for success.

Seems fairly obvious by this point he is only going to listen to his guys and not intelligence or experience. And when those are the likes of Flynn and Bannon that is all sorts of bad.

If that is all true, imagine being in the military establishment and the person who will make decisions to put your people in harms way isnt listening to your intelligence assets.

Unreal

Anecdotal but the few military people I know were very neutral on Trump but very flabbergasted by his treatment of Russia and the potential danger they pose.

Tillerson would just be another brick in the wall. I'm very concerned that he is going to basically ignore intelligence in favor of his guys opinions. I just hope Mattis (who the Democrats should absolutely not fight -- a sound, level-headed leader like him needs to get started ASAP) can neutralize the utter crazy of Flynn.

I think it's pretty irresponsible for the CIA to be leaking Russian motivations for the hacking. The FBI (in this case) is doing it right by assigning blame but without the speculation on motive.

Idk why we still trust the word of the CIA. Not that I think they're definitely lying in this instance, they just have a long history of exploiting the public. This is exactly how you'd expect things to go down if a political outsider won the presidency. Not a defense of Trump, just a general commentary.

Side note: the house just passed a bill that would fund grants/training for journalists to combat whatever the government deems "propaganda". Dystopiaaa

But would you take Trump's word over the CIA's? Not a chance in hell. Not to mention the bipartisan support for investigating and releasing data by congress people that have reviewed the evidence.

Trump may be a political outsider, but his cabinet isn't really. I doubt the CIA minds the generals and neo-conservatives that much. They're all gung ho on letting intelligence agencies do whatever tha fuq they want.

The FBI has already proven to be Trumplandia, even leaking false info regarding Trump/Russia. They'd deep six everything if it were up to them.

But even the FBI has assigned blame to the hacks on Russia. It makes Trump's recent comments so bizarre.

I guess I get it as it could be seen as trying to deligitimize (though he really can't or shouldn't claim a mandate anyway given the popular vote) but it's a bit unsettling that the president-elect is seemingly unworried about a prettt major cyber-attack irrespective of who did it.

Trump's word vs. the CIA's word is such a muddled concept that it's impossible to pick a side.

And bi-partisan support against an outsider is exactly what I'm talking about. If he pushes against lobbying, interventionism, "lost funds", etc, he's a threat to the political establishment.

It really makes me wonder how the narrative would have gone if Sanders won the primary.

Why is anyone surprised by this?

Quote :
"“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Mr. Trump said during a news conference here in an apparent reference to Mrs. Clinton’s deleted emails. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”"

I mean, come on. The CIA isn't telling us anything we didn't already know. The ties to Russia were plainly obvious to anyone paying attention during the campaign, it's just no one cared because of how unlikely his victory seemed.

^^You're still giving Trump way too much credit as an agent of "change." He's not gonna touch lobbying or term limits or anything. Those were lies that he knew people wanted to hear.

It seems like we can't go 3 days without Trump making some absurd tweet or claim. WTF is going on right now...

He'll retweet fabricated statistics from neonazis without a thought, but he won't trust what the nation's intelligence agencies have been saying for months now?

Way back in March, I suggested other countries could easily change people's voter registrations with data from security breaches (T-Mobile, Experian, etc). Now that I would love to see investigated. If Russia wanted Trump to win, they would want Sanders eliminated. Why didn't the media/political establishment care back then? Because Sanders was also an outsider.

Literal quote from 2009 article. Fail to see how Trump's agreements will be any different. Though it's not something to criticize him for.

I don't know that they wanted Trump to win. They surely didn't want Clinton too, though.

This is good apart from the shitty interviewer and the propaganda segment in the middle. Sums up my thoughts, other than voting for the lesser evil. There are reasons to vote third party other than the "both parties are the same" mindset.

It's actually kind of fascinating that you think the fact that the Clinton Foundation accepted money from foreign nations (it did) in exchange for favors (no evidence yet of this) is bad because of the chance for corruption but are A-OK with Trump's kids running his for profit business in countries around the world while also being highly involved with his actual presidency.

One is actually president-elect and you seem not to care at all. Or just trust him for some reason?

This was obvious even before the email leaks, and took no one by surprise. Which is why we could look past it to wonder why the fuck Russia was behind the hack and leaking said information.
