People are going to cry refs...but I feel like they blatantly missed one call...and that was Winslow stepping out. The fingertip out of bounds play was hair thin...I wasn't surprised they overturned it. Duke got a ton of calls in the 2nd half, but they also took the ball to the basket with reckless abandon. Do that and you're going to the line. Okafor's 3rd on Kaminsky was also a clean strip....so there's that.

Bottom line was that Duke's guards balled out in the 2nd half. Dekker blew his wad in earlier games and they really needed him.

As usual it's unfortunate that the outcome of the game is being attributed so predominantly on the refs, while the actual play by both teams is marginalized away.

Wisconsin didn't get Kaminsky the ball enough, Dekker never showed up. They didn't look ready at all to deal with Grayson Allen or Tyus Jones, but then again who can blame them when the narrative was set up to be all about the big guys.

Duke out-hustled Wisconsin, period. They played more aggressive defense, they were on the floor chasing after every loose ball, they weren't afraid to drive inside and they dictated the pace entirely. Duke hit the shots they needed to hit to get back and win the game, while Wisconsin regressed into bad shot selections and took their time getting to the basket.

Were there bad calls? Sure. But they went both ways. Would Wisconsin having got the ball those two possessions it went to Duke changed the game? Probably. But the way Wisconsin was playing and shooting down the stretch, I'm not convinced it would have changed the outcome.

The extreme athleticism of Allen and Jones was too much for the lumbering wisconsin guards. they matched up well with kentuckys length though. That probably would have bothered duke much more. Its all about matchups.
