Ever been offered sex to let someone out of a ticket/jail. I assume you refused. Know anyone who has taken up someone on that offer?
10/28/2012 6:07:22 PM
Have you ever had a motorist that you pulled for a misdemeanor refuse to talk to you?
10/28/2012 7:17:51 PM
Is it NC law or basically county/city ordinance where vehicles aren't allowed to parallel park on the wrong side of the street (this is in North Charlotte). Got some neighbors who literally are either too lazy to turn around when parking or just dont give a shit that there's a lack of parking spaces near my apartment building and park about as poorly as a 16yo girl.

it's not illegal in Raleigh to park in the opposite direction is it? I've been parking like that in front of my mom's house since the 90's.
10/29/2012 6:04:39 AM
10/29/2012 7:28:59 AM
it's dangerous especially at nightsome cars have reflectors on the back but not the front making it harder to see a parked car if it's pointing the wrong direction
10/29/2012 7:43:12 AM
eh, i'll continue to do it. stupid rule.

To is it really legal to have open containers in the back of a pickup truck? It seems like the answer has to be no right?
11/2/2012 7:41:25 PM
I dont know much about radar guns outside of what I've seen from 70's burt reynolds movies and baseball gamesIf you point it at a pack of cars how do you know which one you're pinging?
11/2/2012 7:51:59 PM
11/2/2012 8:22:09 PM
I've seen a cop with two people pulled over, how do you do that?
11/2/2012 8:36:12 PM
Wait how the fuck is that legal? It's illegal to have an open container if I hop out of the truck bed, but it's legal if I stay in the truck? What statute covers or doesn't cover thatps this issue is pertinent to my interests...I will probably be riding in the back of a pickup truck on the way to tailgate tomorrow.

public roads vs. private vehicle I would think[Edited on November 2, 2012 at 8:42 PM. Reason : same with a party bus/beer trolley/limo etc.]
11/2/2012 8:41:40 PM
I guess I should also ask the obvious question "Is it legal to ride around in a pickup bed in North Carolina"
11/2/2012 8:44:48 PM
ps I'm trying to figure out if the cops will fuck with me if I take a swing in front of them tomorrow.

this is probably better a question for the DA but maybe you can shed some insightI was discussing home defense/stand your ground with someone the other day and he was surprised when I told him that you're basically fucked legally if you shoot an intruder in the back, even if inside your house. It made me question the origin of that notion in my head; it makes sense to me why that would be a legal caveat but I'm not actually positive that it is. In any case, assuming it is, he was grilling me on "even if?" scenarios as if I knew what I was talking about. For example, someone breaks into my house and finds me in my bedroom upstairs. I grab my pistol, he raises his and we both start shooting. Or any scenario where I'm being attacked at range and have the capability to return in kind. Say, perhaps due to something he said, that I'm certain he intends to kill me. If he turns around to run down the stairs or into another room to gain a strategic advantage, am I going to prison for murder if I shoot him in the back, even believing that he has no intention of leaving the house? Or maybe he's running with a huge kitchen knife away from me and toward my child's bedroom. Something like that. Yes it's a fanciful scenario but you get the gist. Am I in legal trouble for taking the best opportunity to protect my family because the guy happened to be turned around at the time?[Edited on November 4, 2012 at 6:53 PM. Reason : also thanks for the round/sidearm reply, answered a lot of questions]

It's all about articulating "reasonable fear of imminent death or serious bodily harm to himself or herself or another." The only way to truly start to define what is justified and what is not, is new State case law involving "defensive force" and how it starts to define "reasonable fear." Guy breaks in, comes in to your room with a knife and says he is going down stairs to stab your child - I would thank that shooting him in the back would be justified. My beliefs and actions are defined differently than civilians but there are some parallels. When I was in a shooting, I had to explain what prongs of 15A-401(d)(2) were met and that there was an imminent threat of death or serious physical injury.[Edited on November 4, 2012 at 7:47 PM. This might have been asked before but its 16 pages and I don't feel like sorting. If I have a break light busted, not the light itself just the red casing, can I get a ticket for it?

So in that scenario the onus is on me to convince a jury that I'm not lying in the absence of any living witnesses. How likely is that? Of course it would come down to the details, I just don't know of any specific case outcomes like this.
