Pulling for Vancouver. All we need is another east coast team from a city full of assholes to win a championship, thus re-activating the bandwagon of assholes from that city that moved down here.

yeah, last thing we need is thousands of this guy at the rbchttp://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2011/05/tv-execs-get-an-unwelcome-visitor-at-their-annual-upfronts.html

Told you "smart" fans the league was not working on two schedules. Lots of travel coming up.

teemu selanne playing one last season in wpg would be pretty cool
5/31/2011 11:52:51 AM

5/31/2011 12:37:41 PM
yeah i know the NHL openly said they had two different schedules ready for PHX if they moved. I don't know why this wouldn't be the same
5/31/2011 12:43:47 PM
You're a fucking retard. If they had a second schedule, a schedule that reflected realignment - why would they not use it? Why would they wait till next season for realignment. I understand quite well on arena requests, thus the reason why the NHL was only making one schedule for 2011 / 2012Just because you have a couple of TSN guys on your twitter and a cute little hockey theme nic name doesn't make you an expert. You were wrong, get over it.
5/31/2011 3:01:34 PM
because realignment is a petitionable move, iirc. the league doesnt just move people... there's an extended process, including grievances from other teams.the dual schedule was based on building availability, feasibility of travel, and to an extent game times for tv considerations. not realignment.christ, you're fucking thick. as for your last statement, lulz. go back to page 13.

I believe the two schedule scenario was cited by several people on this board.... and none of it had to definitely do with WPG being in the West and a West team moving East.Just my two cents....It sounds like the ownership group is steering away from the Jets name... at least at last check I had on it...
5/31/2011 3:21:18 PM
And you guys say NBA fans are petty and immature...
5/31/2011 3:24:39 PM
5/31/2011 3:24:49 PM
^^^They'd have to buy the trademark. And going with "jets" could potentially cut into jersey sales, as opposed to a new brand.Best suggestion I've seen so far:Winnipeg Jorts[Edited on May 31, 2011 at 3:28 PM. Reason : .]
5/31/2011 3:27:02 PM
if they really go with Moose as an NHL team name I am going to shit]
5/31/2011 3:39:59 PM
Still better than Thunder
5/31/2011 3:48:14 PM
i dont see them using the manitoba moose name. Winnipeg Falcons was floated... not sure i like that. seems tired and over used.they need a beer league team name. Moose Knuckles, Mighty Merkins, Tonsil Hockey, etc.
5/31/2011 4:40:49 PM
The Macon Whoopies
5/31/2011 6:09:27 PM
I FORGOT ABOUT THEM
5/31/2011 6:10:37 PM
5/31/2011 7:55:16 PM
I'm sure the good people at True North are going to read this... but I think the name should be the Winnipeg Timber
6/1/2011 9:01:43 AM
game show for piratesThey should keep the name, just redesign the jersey and logo - enough to encourage merchandise sales.[Edited on June 1, 2011 at 11:56 AM. Reason : pirates]
6/1/2011 11:55:46 AM
Winnipeg Thrashers? Really? Makes about as much sense as all your other posts.I don't really care about either of these teams, so I'll just say Vancouver in 6 because Canada needs a Cup.[Edited on June 1, 2011 at 12:06 PM. Reason : x]
6/1/2011 12:05:19 PM
I think he means keep the Jets name.I'll be frustrated if it's not Jets, but it's becoming quite clear that it won't be.
6/1/2011 12:12:42 PM
Of course, they would have to pay The White Warriors royalties
6/1/2011 12:14:52 PM
Speaking of bad old ECHL names, how about Manitoba Mysticks?
6/1/2011 12:21:55 PM
6/1/2011 12:31:06 PM
Louisiana Ice Gators was pretty badMobile was the Mystiks, is that what you meant

I think PinkandBlack posted that in the other thread... I couldn't figure out who the "C" was in the photo, unless it's just some FC dweeb.

Quebec Rafales ( in French means gust of wind).
6/1/2011 1:56:43 PM
Gotcha on the bad names for WPG...Polar Twins were CHL, the ECHL team was the Thunderbirds.Louisville also had the IceHawks. I was never a fan of the IceCaps or Ice Pilots. Just lame.I suppose it was creative, but the Boardwalk Bullies I thought was pretty shitty too. Although, Kirk Maltby's younger brother played for them.
6/1/2011 2:02:29 PM
pretty sure all this talk would be more apt for the NHL Season thread since Winnipeg isn't in the playoffs.Who ya got for game 1?
